SD9 2.0: Why is it cheaper than the original and is it better?

We actually really liked the original version of this. It was an extremely budget, friendly, reliable firearm for someone who may not have been able to afford a Glock or a Sig and we are excited about this new version and whether or not it holds a candle to the original. Hope to have it at the range real soon.

I changed my internal springs on my original SD 9. After about 100 shots my trigger pull is about 4lbs. It's awesome now. Plus it's the desert tan color with the black slide. Great looking pistal. I also found a mag extender online. So now my main magazine holds 20+1.

I bought this gun about a month ago absolutely love this weapon shoots great, the slide never jams. I have not had a single problem with mine. I love the price tag. Every bit of it is awesome. However, the one downside I do not like the teardown button in order to separate the slide from the bottom, it’s just like the Glock, except for the fact I think these button are smaller and should be just a tad bit bigger and easier to compress in order to tear down for cleaning. I wish it had a larger button like the MP 9 does. That’s my only downside about this weapon.

My SW SD9 2.0 trigger wasn’t gritty at all. I did pick it up used from my local FFL so that might be a factor. I really like it so far. Not quite as good as my SW MP 9 2.0 compact with the new trigger but at half the price I think it is a keeper.

My 9ve had the three white dot sights and my 2.0 trigger resets and pull is pretty good on it and has a nice audible reset. And I do t think the ve had the serrations on top of slide I’m pretty sure it was smooth.. but I love my 2.0 and I’ve ran almost 1,000 rounds through it so far from 108 Norma to 147 Hornady seems to cycle and shoot it all not one hang up or stove pipe or failed ejections definitely one of the best budget guns on the market it my opinion but that’s my opinion and I’m a smith & Wesson guy. And can’t go wrong with 16+1 for standard mag which the mags are a little pricey $35-$45 but they are good quality made of steel and a polymer butt plate. Happy shooting and keep the range hot.

The other two I finally got smart and I adapted them to glock gen 3 type lowers now I actually have a very good triger and serious aftermarket support. Don't get me wrong my two are the S&W are nice but they're limited by the poorly and intentionally designed trigger system even if you do the Apex upgrade you can only improve it so much working within those parameters.

No, we have several of the shield 2.0’s with the newer center blade, safety triggers, and this trigger is nothing like those. It is a very very plastic cheap filling trigger. However, I am not a trigger snob as I have said quite a few times and for what it was intended for. It will serve that purpose fine I’m not speaking to its reliability or accuracy or functionality. All of those things are fine for the price point. It’s just one of the things they focused heavily on was the new trigger and it’s just not good lol. Alrighty, here's my thoughts on this new piece. Having picked one up, taken it to the range, put about 200 rounds through it, had several friends try it, I even compared it to some other pistols. Will the fit, finish, and operation compare to a FN? Nope, but these pistols are from very different price classes. Is the trigger any good? Compared to the SD9VE, this trigger is a big step forward. For a relatively low cost, polymer striker fired sidearm, it's not too bad. Now, as far as the gritty trigger. Out of the box it was gritty. This was easily remedied with some trigger drill, which I do with every firearm I've not used before. I did get to compare it vs the PSA Dagger. The triggers are very different in terms of reset distance. However, for me, I was quicker with the SD9 2.0. Both pistols are accurate and comfortable. Against the FN? There was no competition. While the FN in question is chambered in .45ACP, loaded with 230gn ball ammo, I was still much quicker and accurate with it. I also used a couple of Micro 9's. To me, that's a tough comparison. IMO, that's comparing two different platforms. Most Micro 9's that would match the price class are a handful. Most Micro 9's that would match the shooting experience cost almost double. What I haven't had the chance to do yet is compare it to Canik, or some of the other $300 offerings. Keeping everything in context, meaning price class, I really think S&W has a strong contender with this one.

@@mrgoodbar216 well I carry both! The 40 as my duty gun, and I carry the 9mm p365 as my CCW! So basically I'm getting the best of both worlds!! But I have to admit that the 9mm has came a long way and it does have better accuracy!
