SD60s Return! CP 6302 Leads CPKC 8WWA Ballast Train Arriving into Portage, WI! CPKC Watertown Sub

Starting off April with something cool! Today I was just minding my own business when suddenly I saw on a Facebook group that a SD60 was on the line and I was confused as to why because its been quite sometime since the last time a SD60 lead a ballast train. The reason as to why they don't have ballast trains with SD60s anymore is that their weight on the Waterloo spur in Watertown, WI to get to the quarry is to heavy for them so they have to resort for only using SD40s or GP20C-ECOs but today was something I haven't seen since March of 2023. I have no idea as to why a SD60 was leading this ballast train. Maybe they just needed to pick up ballast cars and not go into the spur. But otherwise I gotta say it was neat seeing a SD60-3 lead a ballast train again as it reminds me of two years ago when ballast trains had SD60s as main power.

Great catch! Wow, a SD60 with a decent horn? I'm used to the horns on CN's SD60's, those aren't too hot.

CP SD60s do have pretty good horns. I’m pretty sure some kept their original horns when they were Soo line. Thanks for watching!
