SCX24 Comp Build - NEW MOTORS - Mofo RC Motor Comparisons! Speed Runs, Crawling, & More!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video we install a motor in our SCX24 competition build! I test three great options from Mofo RC: Torquebeast 050, Torquebeast 030, and the Buzzsaw! These are great brushed motors that offer great performance with very little effort. With no need to swamp mounting plates, these drop straight into the SCX24. The 050 size will require some slight mods to your battery tray on a stock chassis, but that's all. Carbon brushes, metal pinion gears preinstalled, and a proprietary wiring design are some of the key features that make these motors top contenders for a brushed motor swap.

    I ordered a Danchee Ridgerock for myself for Christmas, but it was on back order so I kept shoppin. I found an Axial 24 on sale and ordered it before finding out an hour later the Danchee shipped (oops?). Told wife we could return the Danchee, or give it to my son in law, but my wife decided to give it to my daughter( for me to build, and play with?) winning!! I was considering a 2 speed trans, but this has me thinking Buzzsaw will add that versatility, and save a Chanel for 4 wheel steer.

    Do the larger/longer motors besides speed and torque add any additional weight or ballast? Gorgeous rig.

  • @CapeCrawlers

    @CapeCrawlers

    Жыл бұрын

    They do add weight, mainly because its just more metal material in the chassis. Because of the positioning, the bigger 050 motors may provide some benefits, but the distribution is skewed a little further back than you would normally want.

    I just bought the scx24 gladiator and have the rcawd portal axles on the way. Plus I have the swamp king tires. Would the buzzsaw motor work with that well or is the torque beast 50 be better overall? I just don’t want to snap a axle lol

  • @CapeCrawlers

    @CapeCrawlers

    Жыл бұрын

    It depends on what you like to do. The buzzsaw is surprisingly versatile but doesnt have the low end torque or controllable power delivery that the torque beast does. Neither of them have axle breaking power, so I wouldnt sweat that. Driving style will break axles before the motors do.

  • @CapeCrawlers

    @CapeCrawlers

    Жыл бұрын

    I will do my best! Platinum motors are the newest ones. I think he improved the internals of the motor for more power and better longevity. Also gave them a new colored case. Mod 3 uses a pinion gear that fits stock transmission gears, so a direct bolt on with no additional mods. Mod 5 uses a different pitch on the pinon gear and meshes with an upgraded spur gear on the transmission. I am using newer motors (some are 2.0, others are 3.0) and mod 3.
