Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I give myself a budget of $250 to buy and upgrade an Axial SCX24 Jeep Gladiator! This is a saturated video, complete with shopping list, installation, baseline course runs and more. I also throw in some tips and tricks for free mods and additional low cost upgrades. Once complete, I run the new build on the indoor course and even challenge it to a friendly competition with the fully built brushless flex machine Gladiator!

    A nice free upgrade you might like to add to this is taking the (drop down front bumper arms) off the front bumper and mounting the bumper directly into the frame rails, it bolts right in and the front grill section of the body sits decently snug down against it. Brings the bumper up and in so it doesn’t stick so far out. you can also trim just a bit off the bottom of the front body grill section to get a more flush fitment, doing this gets rid of that jutting out underbite look and cleans up the front of the rig up really nicely, no problems with servo clearance either!🤘🏼😄

    Outstanding choice on tires. Have run a set of those on my Deadbolt for a year with stock foams and they still have grip for days. Earlier scx24s had machined fine threads on the pivot balls. The newer ones are coarse thread. Broke a few of them in knuckles as well until I noticed this.

    Love that. Recently got a little overwhelmed by your and other channels who threw out one expensive and high end rig after the other while i havent even finished modding my first didnt even get to drive it a lot. One item i would strongly recommend is the Injora Underdrive gears, i use them front and rear, gear reduction, slower speed, more crawling power even with stock motor.

    On my kid's gladiator I put that same motor in and then superglued two heavy washers to the outside of each wheel. I happened to have some that were the perfect fit. I don't know the exact weight, but I'd guess each wheel is as heavy, or heavier than any nice brass wheel out there. The washers completely transformed the rig into a capable crawler.

    We ran into the same issue with breaking off the stock steering link screw in a brass knuckle.. but because it doesn't thread in real far and brass is softer.. we took a screw that came with the knuckle and pushed it through the threads from the other side.. works like a charm and you still have threads left once you screw hardware in it will catch the threads on the bottom..😎🤘🏼great video man! I really enjoyed this budget build. Picking the best upgrades, with the focus on performance, is most important for those with limited bucks to spend on hobbies....... or if your Canadian...... 🤦‍♂😕😁. EXPIOWA did a great no $ upgrade quite a while ago by carefully heating and bending his stock links into high clearance links. And after seeing donaldsneffe video on motors and servos, there's some good food for thought in those two upgrade areas. And rather than going for longer shock, I think your choice of flex blades was very smart. And if it came down to it, making them yourself wouldn't be hard and you could make them longer or double jointed for even more extension. And to add weight, there's lots of free options like solder wire, steel washers and nuts, etc.

    Great build, a couple of things I might do different would be go for the 66T Injora over the Torque Beast, it just did not look that smooth and you would have still stayed within budget. Second, considering the weight of the build I think I would have trimmed the foams more or maybe run no foams, there was very little flex in the tires in the video. However I do not have any experience yet with the Injora S5 compound (have some All Terrains coming for my AX), so it might not be viable to run no foams. Other than that awesome job once again!

    Hello, Great and excellent work, I really like the aesthetics and benefits that you have achieved, it is fantastic. Even if he had gone over budget, I would have modified his shocks like the monster Gladietor, which I wish I knew how to do. Let's see if one day you show in a step-by-step video the modification of those shock absorbers. Thank you very much and a hug from Spain, Valencia.

    I would recommend taking the front bumper off it gives it a way better approach angle. I also recommend what I did and buying a cheap chassis of amazon that angles the skid and makes it so much better on not getting high centered.

    For the injora foams maybe you could try make 4-8 evenly spaced half cuts along the outer diameter of the foam. Should let it squish a little better. It’s what I did, Although they probably changed their foams for the s5 compound tires. And for those last $4 it’s a bit high up but you could find something with weight to stick in the front bumper. Another free mod is de-casing the esc. Makes it slightly smaller and lighter, and works great as long as your scx doesn’t go for a swim.

    I was pretty impressed with the injora foam. Had I know they were that soft I probably wouldn't have ordered the CI foams and done something like what you suggest. I am going to look into decasing the esc! If anything it will help the body close better. That's one drawback of the LCG chassis is that the esc puts upward pressure on the body and that velcro starts to fail.

  • @maxwell5428

    @maxwell5428

    @@CapeCrawlers for decasing you just cut or peel the stickers on the sides. Then carefully pull the clips apart. I was rough with mine and snapped the little tabs, but nothing some tape can’t fix if I decide to put it back in the case.

    Since there's no correction in the video, nor any corrections on the video description, or in the comments, the Injora wheels you want, if you are going to "flip" them for a deeper dish look, are the ones linked in the video description and not the ones he shows at 11:47 minutes. The ones shown in the video are the deep dish variants, where the spokes sit about halfway into the rim. If you try to "flip" those, you won't be getting a deeper look because the spokes are sitting halfway into the rim... so no deep deep dish look and no widened stance. In the "regular" stamped steel Injoras, the correct ones, the spokes sit almost at the opening of the rim. These you can "flip" and get the look you see in the finished build. Just a heads up before anyone goes spending money on the wrong item.
