Sculpting the human anatomy in Blender (Full process ! ) - Part 1/2
In this (long) tutorial I am going to show you the full process of sculpting the human anatomy in Blender starting from the base mesh that we have created in a previous tutorial. This is not a tutorial that will be Blender specific so feel free to use your favorite sculpting software such as ZBrush. I will guide you to my process of laying down the muscles and tweaking the proportions. I will also emphasize the need of having good references. Fasten your seat belt, it's pretty intense !

Sir, never apologize for a French accent. Especially in an art tutorial.
I know that this might means nothing to someone else but for me you're the best bro. Thank you so much for creating such a helpful guide for all of us ^^
Wish you the best!
omfg srsly. i have been sculpting randomly for a while now. i dont think i ever sculpted anything as good as i did following those videos. pls pls pls pls pls plsplsplspslp do a female one as well. this is so extremly beneficial following those videos. even if i need like 3-4 days for this video.
Clean, informative and not time wasting, Thank You kind sir!
The best anatomy video I've ever seen. I just follow the steps and the result is going better and better. Thank you so much!
Geez, it took a long time to find you. Most sculpting videos I find are time-lapsed. Thanks, mate.

You are a great artist and teacher. Thanks.
Sir, you are a great tutor. I'm good at modelling using images but not at sculpting, it's frightening me. Your videos about anatomy and sculpting gave me some courage to peep through the door lock hole. I'll try. Thank you very much
Instructor: "i apologize for the french accent" Me: Are you serious? I would kill for having that accent.

Bonjour, merci pour le Video. Est-il possible d'ajouter un ' node structure' to be able to change the position of the model that you created ?
fantastic tutorial.
Tank you very much! It is so satisfying to watch you work and here you speak.
thanks for this amazing video! and never apologize for your accent! it's what makes you you, and it's beautiful!
one of the best tuto looking forward to female version :P
I wachted video step by step. I'm done finally. Thank you so much from Turkey. I'm tired :)
u dont need to apologize for your accent. ur chill hommie
Thank you so much! If this was in udemy I would be happy to pay for it! Before this I would watch video for drawing and I tryed to translate them into 3D.
Did he just apologise for his French accent? I'm offended. That shit is unintentional ASMR. Thanks for this tutorial - so generous of you to share your time and knowledge.

Out of 3D. I visited Germany and France some years ago. Most French people can understand English while in Germany only secondary school students could do that.
one of the best channels keep it up
Many thanks for making this very detailled tutorial (two parts!). I have been following with my own base caracter and I think I was successfull although I have modelled a youth. Sculpting less muscular characters seems much more difficult because of the very subtble details. Maybe this could be a theme for another tutorial? 🙂 Next I will look for a good tutorial to learn how to bake the displacement (or alpha) maps. -Can someone recomment a blender Tutorial about baking Alpha maps? But again, many thanks for this great character production series.!! -Very comprehensive!
Just what I needed
We all love your frenglish ;) And the word you are mostly looking for is "definition" (of muscles, creases, shapes).
Oh yes, you made follow up videos! 💚💚💚
Good job 👍
Merci pour ce tutoriel. 🙏
merci... Looked at it a learnt a lot
c'est encore une fois magique
This man is a god send
I need to learn something. Can I print the Sculpt model directly from the 3d printer? Is it possible to do this without knitting surfaces with edit mode?
My base mesh has very low topology around ears and hands so they keep getting corrupted. Can I somehow add topology just there? I am unable to subdivide past 2 with the multires
Do you have a video on retopologizing your sculpture?
Your English is better than my French.
Is this 3D print ready? I'm just watching the tutorial but don't want to start it if I am unabe to print it properly? Thanks!
You read my mind
quick question, how nessesary is it to have a base mesh? Also, can the same base mesh (say one male one female) be used universally for projects?
@protator
You do not need a base mesh, you can of course start a sculpt from scratch ... but especially as a beginner it is a lot easier and less time consuming if you can simply import a mesh that already resembles what you're trying to make. A couple tweaks to the characters proportions and you're ready to move on to the actual sculpting. A base mesh is however no guaranty that you won't have to re-topologize the model at a later point. The better the edges of the mesh align with the details you are sculpting, the more detail you'll be able to sculpt on each subdivision level. Which could also have an effect on system performance, if your hardware isn't capable enough to push millions of polygons around. Every new SubD level will quadruple the poly count after all. If you want to work with base meshes then having gender specific models is worth the bit of extra time making them. Otherwise you'll have to adjust basic proportions, shoulder width, limb thickness etc. every time you start a new project ... that time is better spent on gender specific meshes. For example it's much easier to sculpt a female chest if you don't have to force a square topology into a round shape. If you don't want to make those meshes yourself, you can also just search the darker places of the web for ripped models from DAZ Studio and Poser. Load the Obj's into Blender, stitch them together at the seams, done ... so I've heard ^^.
Don't appologise for your accent. You've done a great job.
Do you have any recommendations for someone trying to make a stylized character rather than a hyper real one?

You should be fine with a miximo type base mesh or buy a cheaper one from unity asset store or unreal engine and export to blender. I know this message is an older one, hope you are doing well!
Me: This is starting to look great Sociamix: Again, it's still not looking grreat Me: Oh, yeah, that's what I meant!
it's the sad man I want to learn to sculpt human figures there are no tutorials I had hoped for this one
What graphics tablet do you use? Sorry if you said in the video but I don't plan to work through this tutorial until I get one and I can't decide if the intuos small is going to be large enough...
@sociamix

I'm using a cintiq, but I started with a bamboo a long time ago. I think that you are going to be fine with an intuos ;) Don't worry, as soon as you are using a tablet the rest is time and practice.

@@sociamix Just purchased a xp-pen pro - I decided the only price comparable wacom option would be really small and have no functional buttons (they don't sell the bamboo anymore just the one with the 5 top-mounted buttons which seem inconvenient). I was reading that wacom competitors were getting better so hopefully they're right and it'll be good enough for sculpting. Thanks for the tutorial - Blender is finally tolerable now that we have the 2.8 interface so hopefully I can just get away with it and a drawing tablet (maybe substance painter as well) and don't have to fork out thousands of dollars for various software to get things going like the old days.
where can I find the video with the mesh, please
Merci :)

Exactly what I was going to say....the starting base mesh of this video has more indepth and smoother than the previous video's ending base mesh.
@sociamix "don't hesitate to leave a comment below" Me; I did 7 months ago I'm not being rude I just need help. This is holding everything up When I apply multiresolution modifier, and click subdivide, the left side of my character disappears? ??? It's at the most interesting part but I can't continue
can you show how you did the original model

Why apologise for your accent?? You speak French AND English!!! Most only speak French OR English. You're therefore better than most! Edit: OK so I'm wrong, apparently most of the world is bilingual-ish.... BAH! I don't care.. never apologise, you're perfectly understandable!!
why apologize about your accent bro? It´s good...
