Heard Downtown by Petula Clark at our local bar tonight and immediately thought of this version. Rick Moranis could have made an album as Tom Monroe; I would have bought it.

I love the Michael McDonald backup vocals. Reminds me of the Great parody they did of Christopher cross's Ride Like the Wind with Michael McDonald singing backup and driving an old car all over town. I never get tired of the genius that was SCTV.

LaRue and Earl Camembert both did remotes there in that whatever bar. Seems like they're a whole bunch of other things done in Leduc. Isn't it like only 10 or 15 miles from Edmonton near the airport

To cut costs SCTV filmed several seasons in Edmonton, Alberta-and this particular spoof was filmed in Leduc which is ~20 miles south of Edmonton. You can see "Leduc Draperies" in the background

This must be the episode where everything referenced The Doobie Brothers.. I remember there was a skit for a carpet store sale with the Doobie Brothers singing as well. My 16-year-old self loved this and thought it was so funny that everything was parodying the Doobie Brothers.

1:10 Filmed in front of Leduc Draperies, which was located at 4718 50th Ave. in Leduc AB. A barber shop is now on the site.

Finally found this SCTV-clip! Anyone from Leduc composite High 1988-1989? Swedish exchange student playing guitar in the school band for mr Everett Norris. His son Jason Norris would be great to hear from. I've had some contact with Russel G.

Something tells me they didn't have a permit to shoot on the street in traffic. No idea why it seems like that. Such an odd, low-rent video, just like Tom Monroe would have made. That's some deeply textured stuff.

Rick Moranis managed to get micheal MacDonald into a lot on SCtV. Loved the Leduc downtown and the exterior ITV cameos as well. Drove past Leduc yesterday. Haven’t been downtown since 95 tho. Can’t say how much it changed since 1981. Can’t remember. I am sure a lot of the drivers were a tad bewildered.

There is a scene where Guy Caballero is watching something he doesn’t like and starts saying,,, “ I don’t like this I don’t like this I’m a scared ,,,,,,,,,, then rubs his hands all over all over his face while making booba booba bluba bluba sounds………. I thought it was the ZONTAR episode but I’m mistaken because I watched Zontar on my DVD looking for that scene a few years ago and my buddy watched it a few days ago online looking for it and it ain’t there. HELP if you can. It’s buggin’ me. ANY info. at all would be greatly appreciated.
