SCTV Season 3, ep. 25 - RARE final episode - The Cisco Kid
Комедия
This last episode of season 3 is a rare, oddball episode featuring an outside project: an overdubbed version of "The Cisco Kid". SCTV did the same trick at he end of season 6, ep. 18 with an overdubbed version of "Of Human Bondage".

I have never seen this particular SCTV episode, but I do remember seeing the original broadcast of this Cisco Kid adventure when I was a child. I recall asking my dad if it was truly possible to shatter glass with a note from a violin.
This was my first ever encounter with SCTV! Ironically, it’s not, strictly speaking, an SCTV episode. I recall one of the cast members saying the Cisco Kid thing was a pilot or pitch for an original show. I unintentionally taped it and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. So many things became catchphrases between me and my dad for years after
Thanks for all your great work in Posting the SCTV epsiodes. I have not seen this since it aired. Awesome.
Thank you so much for posting this! Like _Commando Cody and the Hatless Planet,_ I was beginning to wonder if I'd only imagined seeing this. Thank the gods for KZread!
I remembered seeing this episode when it first ran in USA. I kept waiting for it to rerun so I could tape it. But it did not go into rotation with the other episodes. Later I remember SCTV cast members responding to questions about it. Audience members would site it as their favorite episode. Cast members would say that wasn't made by us. I think one or two writers were involved and Martin Short does a voice. But it was NOT an SCTV project,... according to them. It was done by an entirely separate group. They just bought it to broadcast when they needed an extra episode. But it was surely remembered fondly by anyone who saw it. I don't think it's included on any collection of SCTV. Wish there was a definitive all inclusive collection, especially of these early shows. As I think they are the funniest and most creative.

WNBC-TV in New York ran this episode in first-run, and I did see it "at the time," but like everyone said . . .
Sounds like Martin Short as Pancho.

It most certainly is.
KING-TV in Seattle used to show the half hour SCTV episodes after Saturday Night Live before SCTV officially came to America. This episode was definitely one of the most out there ones but I remember it well!
I love SCTV immensely, and the Cisco kid bit was very good, but nobody did it like "mad movies with the LA connection"... if you like the dubbed movies check them out...
Thanks for posting!
My first time seeing the Neil Jung sketch! This is Gold and indeed is the rarest SCTV episode. The Love Boat promo and Marlon Perkins sketch were cut? The third season is tied with the Cinemax season as my favorite SCTV seasons

I've never seen The Marlon Perkins thing that I can remember. I have a special love for season 6 on Cinemax. More season 3 episodes to come on this channel.

There sure are a lot of Rare! Final Episodes!
"Alan Ladd" has a voice that sounds like one that Joel Hodgson used to do on MST3K.

"You like reruns? So do I!"
SCTV doing What's Up Tiger Lilly, before MST3K.
That was really awesome. It felt like it could have given someone the idea for MST3K? Who knows?
This is crazy out there funny
I KNEWWWW I saw this weird intro way back when!
Is this before mystery science theater?

Did you get this from me? I remember doing a sumptuous SCTV tape swap with you (thanx for that btw), met you in front of the old UCB location in NYC eons ago - around the time you guys did the Regina sketch (which was hilarious)? I may have killed too many brain cells in the interim to recall clearly. In any case, thanks for getting this up on your stellar YT channel!

Hard to remember. Glad I could share! "Regina" was one of the first shows ever at UCB, the first show I ever directed.
Why didn't they make a movie starting Edith prickly?

Why is this a rare episode? Although I do NOT find it on the CanuckTV channel here on KZread. Is it the copyright on "The Cisco Kid"?

It rarely, if ever made it to syndication.

I'm pretty sure it's not in the American syndication package of this show due to the song licensing in "Neil Jung: Musical Psychiatrist" and the Cisco Kid probably has some copyright or licensing issues too.

@@canaisyoung3601 Good response. This, I believe, is the answer the OP sought, as in "what made it become rare?" rather than "why do you say it's rare?"
