Screw Hole too Big or Stripped? Fix it!

Repair screw holes in wood that are too big. Methods work on stripped door hinge screw holes. Filling the holes with common items found in most households.
The screw holes in my gate hinge have egged out. I think the root cause is that who ever built the fence did not use the correct hinge for the gate.

Those fat sandwich toothpicks work well, too, or even a split bit of a Popsicle stick. I also have a feline Quality Control Inspector. Her specialty: New cardboard boxes. Very thorough. Talks me through it, too.

How do I do this if it’s metal (aluminum)? The screws used in my window crank is now too small for the aluminum window frame. Bigger screw is not the answer because then it won’t fit the window crank screw holes.

There are inserts for metal, you could looking into those. Can you drill the holes in the window crank out and make them bigger?
