Can anyone else hear a really high pitched ringing quietly in the background?

If Eddie Charlton played Cliff Thorburn, this wouldn't be too far from an accurate representation. The only historical inaccuracy with this sketch is you can clearly see the table through the smoke.

That is one of the many things I love about Mitchell and Webb- the little subtleties, the details that you only see if you're really paying attention. Any other comedy sketch show would have opened with a full-screen shot of the "Embolism World Snooker" logo to play it for laughs (after all, it must have cost some money and effort to design and print it), but here they leave it quietly in the background, for eagle-eyed viewers to chuckle at. The attention and observation of details that goes into even their silliest sketches is second to none...

This is done so well. Believable, yet totally absurd at the same time.

I remember playing snooker well me and a friend were as drunk as them two. Took an hour to pot a ball, the people waiting told us to fuck off in the end 😂 after 14 snake bites ( drink) it's a wonder we could hold the cues. Illegal in some uk pubs as they can't sell mixed drinks now..

So, as an American, I've determined that snooker is your NASCAR. "Embolism" was a reference to tobacco sponsorship. NASCAR had the Winston Cup.

Looks like someone didn't do their research. They say the final is in 1975 at the Crucible despite the fact the world snooker championship wasn't played at the Crucible until 1977.

Does anyone know who wrote the sketches in this show? Because they were fucking shite. And the very obvious canned laughter is so misplaced.
