Screaming Meemees - See Me Go
Музыка
The Screaming Meemees were one of the biggest post-punk new-wave pop bands in New Zealand in the early 1980s. The band formed in Auckland in 1979, composed of vocalist Tony Drumm, guitarist Michael O'Neill, keyboard and bass player Peter van der Fluit and drummer "Laurence "Yoh" Landwer-Johan.
In 1981 the song "See Me Go" was released as a limited release 12" edition, and a 7". Despite being unavailable after the initial week of release, the song was briefly the number one single on the New Zealand charts. This accomplishment was achieved with little airplay outside of college radio. The single was the first New Zealand single to enter the charts at number one.

Saw these guys play live loads at underage gigs and they played at Selwyn College one lunch time ( it sounds cringing now but I had a big crush on the blond guy - i was only 13 or 14 so....hey 🤷♀️) - I loved their music and still do > it brings up so many great memories of that whole era and that music scene ❤😮
This was probably my favorite song when it was released i got to see them a few times the last time at sweetwaters music festival
Excellent. I have their limited release album. 1000 copies made. Maybe the band have the other 999 copies but I'm still happy iI have my one.
Enjoyed seeing them live at Mainstreet and at Sweetwaters in the early 80s.
I sold my old Vespa scooter to one of the band members in the mid 80s. Wish I still had it as they are worth a fortune now.
one of the best bands back in the day, we used to jam this song hard, think we were Maori Punk Rockers back then. back in the Bootboys days.

I didnt see these guys at Mainstreet but I did see 'The Knack' there. I worked on the building that replaced the one Mainstreet was in. Any one remember the murder in Mainstreet's front foyer? A 16 yr old staff member was shot by..... Ronald MacDonald. True name! Ah the memories keep coming back... Auckland in the 80s!!!

Back in '81, when the Meemees were at the height of their fame, I was stalked by Yoh. True story! The stalking was over within 10 minutes but I was traumatised major league about it.

I manipulated my parents in numerous ways to leave that hellhole after two years and go to Northcote College instead. To my immense relief, it worked.
Damn I love the future and being able to time travel in here. Does anyone have anything from a Waihi band circa 83/84 called Ebony Sai? If so please please post.

One of the multitude of different versions - good, but not the hit version.
