I know there are people who hate on this new scream era but I honestly think Radio Silence did an amazing job transitioning Scream to a new generation, things will not and cannot be done the same as in the Wes Era, we live in completely different times, as a huge fan of the OG I absolutely LOVE the new cast and vide of Scream 5&6

Scream is the most consistent and solid franchise in horror! I saw the original three in theaters WAY more times than is healthy.

I enjoy scream 5 but 6 is a major improvement ,it made truly fall in love with the core 4,Sam and Tara specifically

Fuck no the script wasn’t that good, predictable kills, killer reveals fall flat, and there some problems like characters getting fuckin stabbed so many times that they should have been dead. Scream 6 wasn’t a bad movie but it wasn’t better then 5. At least 5 made more sense and just was a better movie overall

I agree 6 was way better. Each character at least had a purpose in it and it did weight itself down with drawn out talking scenes.

I do not like you very much! This will work out for me!” Like, why would you antagonize *anyone* so much in a situation where everybody is getting killed? …….unless youre Billy talking to Randy in the video store. The DNA is all there, is all Im sayin.

After rewatching it for like the 10th time, Scream 5 is still one of the better Scream movies for me I absolutely love tf out this movie with it being in my top 3 (yes even after 6 but we’ll talk about that film another time) in the franchise. It did its job as paying respect and being a love letter to Wes Craven and the original film. It’s my favorite legacy sequel and doesn’t deserve the hate it’s been getting lately especially for reviving the franchise. And last, its commentary predicted the war zone of a discourse nine months prior of Halloween Ends’s release Another moment of dialogue I love in 5 is this. Liv: “Who’s Stu Macher?” Mindy: “Oh my god..” I just love it because Mindy is us die hard Scream fans while Liv is the friend who doesn’t know much about the franchise

I know you’ve said no one will ever top Stu’s knife wipe but Melissa barrerra had me on the floor screaming “STOP STOP IM ALREADY GAY”

I actually didn’t love this movie at first but loved it the second time, but I do agree something is definitly missing from this entry. Excited to see Scream 6, it doesn’t look much better but it sure looks entertaining

My favorite little Dewey moment was when he's on the phone with Sydney and she falls back into their old dynamic, looking to him as a protector (at least in theory). Arquette straightens up, firms up his voice, and finishes out the conversation sounding a little like his Scre4m self. (I mean sounding as if he is taking action and has the power to help. Not all the other annoying traits he picked up in that movie). But then as soon as he hangs up, he audibly deflates and has to take a moment to recover. Just perfection. edit: also fully a member of team Chad and Mindy - I literally cheered when she said "I'm gonna smoke some weed and possibly hook up with Francis." I thought they were going to just code her and leave it at that

This movie was the perfect love letter to fans of the original Scream movie

I wonder if Judy’s attitude towards Sam, besides keeping the audience guessing, was a misplaced fear-based reaction to the return of ghostface to Woodsboro.

I have had the words 'scree 4 m" and "five cream" stuck in my head on loop like a song for weeks

I didn't know how much I needed these videos until I saw them. Usually I just look up interviews and behind the scenes stuff on the Scream franchise because I'm such a fan. But these deep dives really put everything in a nice packaged video, along with a fun breakdown of the plot. Can't wait to see your thoughts on Scream 6. 33:27 hahaha x) super relatable. I remember when I first saw that Kirby cameo! Such a cool easter egg.

You forgot to mention all easter eggs which I’ll name a few cause there’s tons Drew Barrymore as the voice of principal. Matthew lillard as ghostface flame thrower on KZread Ritchie’s watching. Jamie Kennedy saying someones goofy ass dad is kicking us out at party scene. Sidney shooting her gun the first time at the same closet she popped out of in scream 1 to stab billy with a umbrella. And the thumbs up at end between mindy chad which is a nod to Dewey from him giving a thumbs up showing he was still alive in scream 1.

To this day my pride is in fan casting Mason Gooding in a Scream 5 fan fiction back in 2019 and then him being casted irl. I don't have any proof, just take my word for it 😅 but I say that to say, even though Scream 2022's execution was lacking, I will forever love this casting! Jenna Ortega gave us performance. Melissa Barrera is our first latinx lead of the franchise. Jack Quaid not only looks like a Cotton or Robbie character but is the son of Meg Ryan who was name dropped in the first film! Kyle Gallner our Scream King (and my birthday twin) Dylan Minnette also a Scream King 👑 Mikey Madison and Jasmin Savoy Brown ❤️ I can't even express how perfect everyone was for this film, I just wish the writing and dialogue and scenes had been different

I bet they changed it since they had a gay actress. Honestly, I prefer Mindy gay, because if the only other character attribute Amber got was they she was gay, I’d been really disappointed a gay killer had no other personality traits than bitchy and gay.

Just finished a second rerun of this after watching Scream VI in theaters (I'm running through them in reverse bc why not). I've never noticed the Kirny interview in the side bar on the laptop until upu mentioned it! Also props to pointing out the OVER played trope of hospitals somehow being empty at any point of the day). It's like horror directors have never been to hospital at night. Even the skeleton crew is more than a few people per floor lmao.

I just watched your old Scream 2022 review to get prepared for this one. It was good but you're on a whole nother level now. It's cool to see such growth in a short amount of time! And as for being a weirdo I like to think of you as Queen of the Weirdos! And we're your little cult minions hahaha

My friend and I went to the movies and saw Scream 5. It was freaking AWESOME!! Even though the film's title is the same as the original, it doesn't ignore the sequels that came before it. I thought having Jenna Ortega as the new final girl was such a genius idea. I have known her since Disney Channel's "Stuck in the Middle". Chad and Mindy were the major highlights in the film, especially the scene where the latter gave a thumbs up to the former, who got dumped by his girlfriend, which he sarcastically gave her a thumbs up and then flips off his sister, exclaming "screw you". The killer reveal was the weakest part of the film, though the epic fight scene in Stu Macher's house was the highlight of the film.

Ok. I love your videos. Just discovered you, and I’ve been binging your videos all day. Fun fact: when Tara is watching Dawson’s Creek in the hospital, Scott Foley/Roman Bridger is in that episode.

Also, go watch the directors reading Scream VI Letterbox reviews, from 5 starts to 1 star haha. It's hilarious.

Excited for this video! I just ordered the Scream Trilogy and Scream 4 on Blue ray from my work (I'm a B&N Bookseller). Oddly we didn't have Scream 5 but this series has gotten me into checking out Scream. I don't mind being spoiled because honestly I feel like I've seen parts of the other films anyways, so I'd rather just go in and enjoy it from a fresh perspective.

Anything cool on the bluray you found? Ive been trying to find at least Scream96 with commentaries and bts stuff,but its been alarmingly difficult..im surprised nobody’s cashed in to make a “definitive” box set; it’s mostly just the movies.

I’m sad that this is gonna be the last video of Scream for Dummies. This was educational and so funny. After hearing what Kevin Williamson’s 5 and 6 could’ve been I would rather have those instead of the ones we got. A Ghost Face luring out another one sounds amazing, but I do have to agree with the growing majority that 5cream isn’t aging well and I see that happening with 6 as well. The Billy Loomis visions for Sam could’ve been handled differently. Even in 6 it didn’t fit at all. I hope we get your review for 6 soon. Your reviews are amazing

I just watch Scream 5 last week it was really good .

yess, my favorite sequel in the franchise. favorite supporting characters (although fwiw it does help tremendously that i fully count chad and mindy as supporting characters in this one, unlike VI), i love dewey in this so much, sidney and gale admittedly probably didn't need to be here but i love how they're represented, a wonderful "back to basics" opening and structure, the killers are so fucking fun and goofy (Amber is the best "Stu" since Stu, fight me). You have to suspend your disbelief for a few things of course, but that's always been the case with these films. and also the billy tulpa is very, very dumb. sam's start was a *bit* clunky but scream VI fully redeemed her for me and a few other people

I enjoyed this movie but 6 is WAY BETTER! Scream 5 is at the very least better than scream 3. But 6 still doesn’t have an amazing killer like Scre4m does with Jill

I'm really enjoying the Scream for Dummies series, thank you for recommending the Scream novel. I loved Scream 5 I thought it was great!

Finally got around to watching this video and Scream 6. I can't wait to hear your thoughts! I loved it. Great video as always.

I just realized that when Sam was a menace, it would have been around the same time Dewey was a Sheriff, because in 2011, she was 14. So how the hell did he not know her before now? That’s just really bad continuity, unless he’s been unemployed since 2011/2012.

cult, coven, it's semantics. our souls are yours regardless lol the kevin williamson situation was interesting, i do wish we got his scream 5/6. same directors would be cool! damn mason was hype for dead meat! a true fan reaction haha great interview clips sounds like such a fun set to be on. arquette teaching bob ross painting is too cool! 5-cream lol "remember when you used to be good" lol love that opening with jenna and the elevated horror commentary. she's not wrong! the sound mixing with red right hand coming out of the car at first then dropping with the kill was on point!! hell yeah love that kev was supportive but yeah the billy visions are strange a new wilhelm scream hahah true that enough of the wilhelm scream and the bangs jokes texting scenes can be goofy but they nail the emotion with that and in the new one w samara as well. "maybe you're the killer, cuz that cut deep" lol honesty mindy and chad should be the leads. they're dope. jenna is great but yeah sam and tara are traumatized, not developed. yeah those for the trailer lines often don't make the cut for the movie... but they kept em. love the house reveal. so true on the fan service. i feel that on scream vi as well. honestly lampshading that it's fan-fiction doesn't save it from kinda being fan-fiction haha tangents lol richie is aight but jack quaid is great. he's great in the boys which also comments on like franchises, fans, and toxicity. dang a rian johnson cameo would be sick!!! i kinda wish they co-wrote with kevin williamson, even though he was involved i feel like he has a certain touch but idk. yeah they sacrificed side characters for legacy characters in this one. it doesn't stand on it's own as well, i feel like a requel should be dope standalone and if you've seen the earlier films, not dependent on the knowledge of the earlier films. i feel like that's marvel's achilles heel. spiderverse was awesome and you didn't need to do homework to see it. i love the fan service but a good franchise film isn't only for the fans. it's got fan service but it also should simply be a good film. as much as i love the sequels, one of the reasons the original is so good because it stands alone. ok enough rambling. dope vid as always, kylie! love the honesty and ever-evolving opinions. is scream for dummies pt.6 gonna be a thing or is it too soon for that? have a happy st patrick's day and a great weekend kylie and fellow cult/coven members!

Haunted HIppie, always a PRO (with capitals). And I agree with a lot of what yo said. The movie went from being my second favourite to being the second to last favourite after the recency bias had passed. Which is why I'm going to see Scream VI again before I rank them again.

Wow, this has been a fantastic series. All 5 videos went deeper into the research then I expected, while still being entertaining enough that I never skipped once. Even if I disagree with your opinions I can absolutely see your points. I can say one thing for sure though, it is an absolutely great time to be a Scream fan! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I LOVE your outfit/make up! Besides the whole black and white that reminds me of Ghostface, my first thought was that you remind me of a mash up of Sugar and Spice from Batman Forever. Which is cool because Sugar ties into today's video/Scream. Since Drew Barrymore played Sugar & of course as we know, Drew played in the original Scream & did the voice of the principal in Scream 5.

I liked this movie. I liked Scream 6, too. Good video!

For me, this moviie is what solidified my potentially irrational obsession with this series. I heard solid buzz around it when it came out, which is what convinced me to watch the previous 4 movies before seeing this in theaters with my dad. We had a great time and for that alone, this movie ranks near the top for me. The original is still perfect, and I love 4 and 6 to death as well, but 5 will always be a movie that means a lot to me.

I like to think that the scene at the beginning where Amber tells Tara to answer the phone line and then tara says how do you know the phone lines ringing was a genuine mistake on ambers part and then she just ran with it lol

Greetings my cult queen I must thank you - I liked the original Scream way back when, and then I watched the following movies with increasingly less interest.... Buuut then I happened to be indoctrinated into the cold embrace of the horrific Haunted Hippie, aka Kylie, aka the Sidney Prescott of podcasts. Your enthusiasm and analysis ignited a desire to revisit each installment and drink some of your Kool-Aid. I'm happy I did because that blood red Kool-Aid went down as smooth as a sharp 8-inch hunting knife cutting thru butter. It all made Scream 6 that much better in the theater. Thank you!!! Also - full agreement about Dewey's death; Ready or Not every day and twice on Sundays! And on that note, I'm going to make like a 5cream and ooze on outta here 👻🔪😱🧪🖤

I think I heard somewhere that Stu in the deleted scene was the Stab version because he's wearing different pants than Scream 1996. But if they filmed the scene that could mean it was the actual Stu or more footage of Stab but I will keep holding on hope for Stu's return!

5cream is definitely second to last on my list but I still love it. They definitely made a love letter to Wes and the franchise but I really do love this film. I love the motive because the second this film came out we saw half of the scream fandom go toxic in a way of attacking the film and cast in a way that wasn't critiques but more so attacks. I just think this film did the job it was honestly meant to do and I love it so much. I will say I want more people to show Amber some love as she is in my top 5 killers due to how crazy she is but she needs more credit for simply killing one of the OG 3!!! I can admit the flaws though with them not showing more of the new cast and giving us something to care about which they step up in 6 and I think another thing is just how Melissa portrayed Sam which I think she was just finding her footing and was trying to be too much like billy which she gets away from in 6 and is the complete standout.

The knife wipe was STU, ahhhhh! They play it off like Sam’s honoring/reflecting her father with that (bare-handed, whhuuttt?.) knife wipe… but….. no! That wasnt Billy! Imma go full Kinison over here! AAHHHH! This is a response to the movie, not to you. . . As always you deliver, and that coat is the word “fabulous” manifested as a piece of clothing.

I’ve never seen Scream 4, saw the original trilogy like a decade ago. Saw this at a house party with a bunch of my friends who love the franchise, and I hated it, while they all loved it, ha. I just didn’t think any of the characters were likable, Dewey’s death was stupid, and the killers reveal was just awful. Having watched this series of yours, has made me wanna go back and rewatch the franchise. Maybe having everything fresh will make me appreciate this more.

What I would do for Scream VII or some ideas or suggestions: Sidney Prescott is in it in in some capacity Ghostface should be related or have some kind of connection to a past Ghostface character Some OG character should die( Gale but Did it's weird because she's the centerpiece of the franchise) Rely on the new characters to carry on the legacy They shouldn't be set in Woodsboro but it should be somewhere near California like Vegas or Phoenix. Jenna and Marisa should be in Sidney and Gale's place and far as being the future of the Scream franchise. Leave clues for Scream 8 and Scream 5,6, and 7 secretly a trilogy series that culminates in Scream 8 where Stu reveals he illustrated of the events in the last 3 films

So first thing , I LOVE your white coat lmao . I totally agree with how scream 5 keeps ageing poorly :( and I think it’s because it relies so heavily on nostalgia and like you said , it lacks the rewatchability aspect. Amber is honestly mother . She does all the work . Her hospital scene with Dewey is so good, especially that shot of ghostface standing like a badass after taking Dewey out . I’m honestly just happy I am alive to see this franchise again at the big screen since I couldn’t when the first trio came out

I’m also just catching this but is Liv’s name a take on Stu’s “liv’er alone” joke!?

So Amber wasn’t a flop character until the 3rd act? I’m not blaming the actress, but she barely had any more character than Liv (also, why is there a Liv after 4 had a girl named Olivia, who was literally barely even more developed; Liv was doomed)? Honestly, I think Amber is the worst killer, not because she wasn’t a good choice, but there were no red herrings to not make her suspicious. She was basically bitchy and really had nothing to do. Like for me, I think if she was maybe overprotective of Tara and maybe even Sam at points (I think it’d be a fun ruse of her being the closest to them), to the point she make other characters seem uncaring or selfish, then I think I could see the reveal way better. I just guessed it was her, because she was suspicious enough (because nobody else was), but to bland to not have other reasons to fall on. These are just as much mysteries as slashers and it doesn’t work if you have no mystery until the end.

Lol at you going "Bwhhhaaaaattt?! Billy Loomis?! Omg, Skeet!" 😆 I love all of the Scream movies almost equally but if I did a ranking 5 and 2 would be on the bottom. I think 2 has the most flaws and feels too long. It's funny though how people complain about the killers being obvious in 5. That happens in every Scream movie except for Roman in 3 and Jill in 4. I should also proudly say that I loved both Amber and Liv. They get too much hate. My favorite Amber moment is when she's going "Eee Eee Eee!" 🔪 Btw we don't need Sidney anymore. Her story is done. These new characters are great. If Tara was boring, then so was Sidney in the first movie(Gale was better). Sidney is my favorite final girl but Sam is awesome too especially in 6!

Stu is definitely alive.. I am one of those people. Lol. There was an Easter egg in Scream (2022) the same place place we see that Kirby is still alive. Also, they talk about him a few times in Scream 6. Why mention him if they aren't putting the ideas in our heads that there is a possibility that he could still be alive? 🤷‍♂️

Richie as a Ghostface is like that kid at school who did the absolute bare minimum in group projects but still got all the glory. Hide in a closet and stab your girlfriend one time = A+

Liv was a red harring

Haunted Hippie 🥰 the human lucky enough to produce her first movie, not that she wouldn't do it herself cause come on anyhoo, her style I can see as comparable to Tim Burton only in a horror sense!

Thankyou for seeing how wasted Vince was as a character. I have said ever since I saw this movie in theaters last year, Vince has stuck with me as not only did he steal every scene he was in which was all of two scenes, Kyle also gave one of the top three performances in this movie in my opinion. That's how good he is that only David and Jasmin I put above him and they had infinitely more screentime than him so Vince definitely had the most potential and I think they made a mistake killing him off so early and not making him Ghostface or even making him the new Cotton Weary which hasn't happened yet. Not to mention the dynamic between him and Liv also would've made them a great Ghostface pairing. I get it that Jack Quaid being the bigger star from The Boys fame and Mikey Madison playing one of the Manson girls in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood made them pretty much a given but that doesn't mean they were the best choice and had the most potential.

Kyle Galner is so underrated!!

Loved the killer motivation in this for selfish reasons. I'm a long-time Rian Johnson fan and love The Last Jedi, so when the movie starts dunking on toxic fans the likes of which I'd encountered online for years, portrays them as complete psychos, and kills them off brutally... it's hilariously cathartic.

Love the last Jedi too!!! Luke faced an opponent so blinded by rage he didn’t even notice he wasn’t really there and people didn’t like that?? Really??

Generally Wan’s films just don’t do it for me, but MALIGNANT is the exception. Great camp!
