This is the movie that cemented my love for Sidney Prescott. The trauma and grief and loss that she has suffered through and survived over and over again. Very strong character. One of the best heroines of any horror series hands down.

0:48 As a kid, the last shot of Sidney walking through the university, I saw it as a triumph that our heroine has survived another killing spree and it's her victory walk. Now, in my 30's, I look at it differently. Yes, she survived another killing spree, but most of the victims were again some of her closest friends and a second boyfriend for whom she missed judged as the killer for a brief moment. She survived, but she's all alone. Probably feeling highly responsible for all the victims deaths. Probably feeling she can't trust anyone. If she wants someone to enter her life, she'll probably think "What are their chances of getting killed because of their connection with me?" Of course, I still like to see this ending as a victory for Sidney. Mainly thanks to "She Said" song playing.

I absolutely agree with what was written in the description for this vid regarding Sidney and her sense of loss and no idea of what direction of where to go. It all perfectly works with how we next see Sid in Scream 3 which makes me wonder if they positioned her like that because Wes Craven and co. already knew with certainty that there was going to be a third movie. BTW...I also love the song "She Said" by Collective Soul that plays over these credits. Perfect for Sid in this movies conclusion and at this point in her life.

That would make sense! They were also going to have another ghostface looking down at Sid from that watchtower but I'm glad they took that out.. would have been a bit too much

That last moment when she sends the reporters over to Cotton and the camera hangs on her just long enough for you to see her touch the Greek letter necklace Derek gave her is such a small and devastating moment. The costume designer for Scream 3 had the idea to have her wearing them in that sequel (according to Wes Craven's commentary track) and it's also a great touch in an otherwise underwhelming sequel but every time I watch this one that last touch she gives it before walking off screen is like a sucker-punch given what she's lost in this entry. Neve Campbell is a genuinely remarkable actress and Craven really knew how to work with her. Listen to his commentary tracks for parts 1-4 if you haven't (they're all on the DVDs and most of the Blu-rays that have been released) and you'll find a wealth of insight into just how much effort and care went into making these movies. They were more than just slasher send-ups -- there was love for the genre and they treated these characters like real people... something that's missing from most of the industry nowadays.

Don't know why I cry everytime I watch this scene with Sidney walking off and that beautiful meaningful song starts playing in the background. It's just so powerful

@@ShadrakJohn - Mrs.Loomis probably had nowhere to go herself. She probably could not have supported her son financially, which is why she decided to leave him with his father. Maureen is the cause of all this mess.

Billy Loomis would be proud of this soundtrack.

I think Bittersweet would of been more Fitting

I know that "Bittersweet symphony" was almost gonna be the ending song, but was too expensive, I think I prefer this song "She said" by collective soul. I think it ultimately was the better choice.
