Omg....The way Randy says “F**k you!” Is absolutely amazing. On a more serious note, this scene was sad to watch. Randy was a good character, and a nice friend. Didn’t deserve to die.

One of his best lines in the franchise. He’s more immortal than the killer is, and he was the guy who had information about surviving horror films. Although it seemed to still imply that you could still die if you have sex, it was never stated in Scream 2, but probably still a rule to follow.

This is by far the most illogical death in a series filled with illogical deaths. Randy knows the rules and knows the game, he never would have been dumb enough to leave the middle of the park. It's broad daylight, he was perfectly safe and surrounded by witnesses.

@Charlie Numbers the reason why I brought up the drinking is that "he knew all the rules and barely survived" doesnt count because he still broke said rules. He wasnt really anymore prepared to stop the killer than anyone else because he ignored the rules. So if you actually follow the rules, then you have a much better chance of survival, he did not so it doesn't count

Exactly! Ms. Loomis killed Randy here in the van. You can also tell, because the killer was wearing feminine looking boots and the killer was really short in height and build. Plus she confirmed in her final showdown with Sidney that Randy spoke poorly about Billy and she got “a little knife happy”, which confirmed she was the Ghostface killer here in the costume…people will be surprised the kind of strength people can gain from having high adrenaline. Even though Ms. Loomis is an older woman, she had a lot of pent up rage within her, because she wanted vengeance so badly…

@@cainbutler6291 One thing that doesn't make sense though is the killing? Micky was left handed. You can see that throughout the whole movie, even in the ending when he unmasks and holds the gun. But in the mirror of the van it was reversed making it seem like a right hand, but wasn't? And Mrs. Loomis ain't left handed? You can see her holding a pen and book in the right hand during the movie, but also at the ending where she had the gun in her left hand, tricking and outplanning the scenario of her escape blaming it on Micky.

I feel that scene was foreshadowed in part 1. "Behind you, Jamie. Look behind you."

At 2:16 you notice he’s already by the van and she can grab him there but doesn’t .. I don’t think Mrs Loomis planned to kill Randy until he insulted Billy moments later . Regardless I do think it was the Franchises biggest mistake to kill him off

Randy picked up Gales phone. Gale was the intended target, Mrs Loomis wasn't going to kill Randy. She only went after him once he started insulting Billy. I agree it was a mistake to kill him off but it did raise the Stakes and tension.

If Miramax secured the movie rights, they could create a trilogy with Jamie as the center. The first movie could be slashers, second could be ghosts and demons, and last can be cosmic horror or aliens.

@@RB01.10 that’s why it was great. His character was always smart but the killer (Mrs Loomis here) threw him off his game and that one slip up cost him. She even admitted that she wasn’t planning on killing Randy until he insulted her son.

I’m convinced that Randy’s death was the reason that they invented plot armor for main characters in every movie series. I love Randy too, but if main characters are never in danger of dying, there’s literally no tension.

I actually do understand why they killed Randy off in this movie. It definitely upped the stakes. Instead of new side characters getting killed off that the audience didn’t know, it was a legacy character that everyone loved in a completely shocking and unexpected death. It propelled Gale to be more human and changed her persona from flashy news celebrity to a real person genuinely trying to catch the killer.

Okay the most unrealistic thing about this scene is Randy is killed in broad daylight in the middle of the campus. Someone ought to have seen.

I remember seeing this as a little kid in the theater… Totally bummed me out when Randy got Aced

Everyone making the claim Randy was too smart for this don't realize our boy was slipping in the sequel. He was more scared and not on his game in this one. For instance when he makes the clear mistake of attempting to correct Joshua Jackson's character in film class misquoting the "stay away from her you bitch!" line from Aliens. That's my theory. Watch Jamie himself talk about it while he watches Scream 2 on his KZread channel.

They didn't really know that at the time. Internet was not a big thing. Wes Craven didn't even know people liked Randy until he got hateful emails after the release.

@@sgillman16 It should've been Dewey instead. Dewey is alive because Craven loved his character too much, and Randy is dead because by the time Craven realized how awesome Randy was, it was too late. Either that, or he got Randy killed to show the severity of the situation. Lion to the slaughter kind of thing.

Jaime as an actor only got the role cause he stole sides and knew what they wanted at auditions..he didn't really earn it find the character through trial error or deserve the role...

Without a doubt. Reason why the sequels weren't good after 2. Hell, 5 won't even come close because of the missing presence of the horror movie icon himself, the man that knows the rules, Randy. Unless 5 brings him back alive somehow or retcons his death to surprise the original Scream fans.

@@TheAmazingAdam they used mindy to revive him but no offense, it just didn’t work for me. Great actress though, just don’t really like how her character is basically there to well…be Randy. Randy should’ve been a legacy character. Plain and simple. His death will always tick me off.

This still pisses me off to this day. Not just that Randy died, but how it happened. In all actuality, if he was to be killed off it should've been a sacrifice to save the others, as he knew the rules and wouldn't have been caught up in them. He should only have died knowing it was the only way to defeat Ghostface, or to save someone else.

Yeah honestly i think the plot would have been better if they already established in this movie that Randy had sex. That way Randy would have known that he was going to die at some point. He could have spent the first half of the movie being super paranoid and at the end he accepts his fate and makes a heroic sacrifice to save his friends.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! This is exactly what I’ve been saying. Though I don’t think he should’ve ever been killed off, if he had to, it should’ve been done right. His death was ridiculous. He would’ve never died that way. It made no sense. You are absolutely right. It should’ve been done as a sacrifice if Wes absolutely needed to kill him, which he didn’t.

You're Right Ghostface Randy is never going to be the hero. But Hes something way better than a hero. He's the messenger.

This Scene alone proves (to me at least) that Jamie Kennedy is a Pretty Good Actor.

Anytime I watch this, I really do sob, after watching Scream 2, anytime I think about Randy or watch his death scene, I tear up or sob immediately, I really loved Randy to the point where I actually cry anytime I see him, he really shouldn't have died plus its unrealistic for a horror critic like Randy, thanks a lot Scream 2, you just ruined my life.

You know how they say some scenes don't happen if characters only had a mobile phone? This is the flip side of that.

Randy was the best. He didn’t deserve to die. Although if he hadn’t, then we wouldn’t have had that hilarious scene in Scream 3, where he explains the rules, post death. 🤣 Personally, I still wish he had lived. 😭💯

It would've been better if he was left for dead but was found and just about survived so he could've been in the later movies

So true. The movies went downhill after 2 because of this scene ironically. Randy was the lungs of the franchise, and this was their biggest mistake. Still hoping Randy returns alive somehow in Scream 5 or his death gets retconned to bring life into the series again but doubtful :(. Also didn't make sense, Randy knew the rules, but got killed in broad daylight. Bad writing. Randy and Cotton deserved better in the series.

Maybe dont have randy in the rest of the film and have somwone say he's in a life or death coma and then at the very end just have someone mention he's awake

Randy is right one thing though, this fool will never be no Billy

Kevin Williamson regrets killing Randy so soon, as he had no idea how popular he would be. His death hit me so hard, man.
