@@pennywebb867 Luke is the cornerstone, Lena and Nannars have the gentleness that's the soul of the draft horse, Roni and Roo, both gorgeous guys that would do anything for you. Peggy is gold with a frosting of white, and Gracie? The only ones that surpass Arabians in their sheer exuberance in moving are the foals. But your Ruli, it look like she knows her own mind and her own worth, and I think you're both lucky to have each other. (I also think it would be cool to have a t shirt saying 'hear the dinohorsey ROAR!) (or at least another Ruli video montage...roarrr...)

The noise you are hearing is air in the sheath. It seems that somehow they can puff up that area and make it move to where the air movement around there causes enough friction to make noise. This seems to primarily be done when a horse wants to show dominance or strength. As if the louder the noise the bigger the horse.

You are talking about a horse grooming you is having its risks. I totally agree with you but I also see getting groomed by a horse as a form of trust and acknowledging you as a member of the herd. The other day I was grooming a (kind of sensitive) horse, I offered my upper arm to groom me back, which he did. As soon as he got my skin (with his teeth) my muscle kind of tensed and the horse immediately reacted to it. He stopped instantly . I let him know it's okay by just going on grooming, so did the horse, but only his lips, never felt his teeth again.

But I get it. I would not let every horse groome me and rely on its reaction to me. But in some way it does help you get to know the horse and vise versa. But yeah it has it's risks.

When I was a kid, back in the 60's the saying was $100.00 per roll. My heart horse would roll 7 times, so according to the rolls, she was worth $700.00. She also had 4 white feet, so according to the poem, 1white foot, buy the horse, I don't remember what it said about 2 white feet or three white feet, but 4 white feet, leave it. I had the Mustang that was way too smart for me that could roll 3 times with 1 white foot that was very unpredictable, I never knew what he was going to do when I rode him, which was my fault because I didn't know what I was doing.
