Scraproom on a Budget

My first video of my scraproom created on a budget. Everything in my room was either purchased on sale, on clearance, with coupons, or recycled. I hope this can help other ScrapRookies to store their stashes.

The wire racks were a huge help for storage and my purse as well. Since this video I've upgraded from the wire rack to the recollections paper storage cubes. I waited for the black friday sale at Micheal's all the while saving up for them. I still use the dollar store cubes because they are awesome for space.

PACKED with awesome ideas that are useful, practical, economical and easy for viewers to actually reproduce in their own space. Ive watched this a dozen times now and get new ideas every time. The wedding hasn't happened yet, but thank you, it is a work in progress. I'm glad there is a platform where crafters and scrapbookers can share videos with other sister scrappers and crafters. My craft space looks much bigger on video than it actually is so utilizing the space as best I could was very important. I've learned lots of things since putting it together. l'm glad you found it useful and look forward to seeing your space when its done! Happy Craftin'! TFW

Hi! Just wanted to let you know we are still watching your vid! You have a very relaxing voice to listen to & I totally enjoyed it. I have seen the idea of removing wooden stamps from the wood and mounting them on the cling foam. I don't have alot of wooden stamps but it seemed like a good idea -- until I saw a friend trying to pull the rubber from the wooden block! It is no piece of cake, especially the more expensive wooden stamps. The cheap ones come off when you don't want them to! So I decided I didn't have that many stamps to make it worthwhile. And I have to admit, I am one of those people who need the acrylic block because I NEVER stamp a wooden block straight! I love those ribbon boxes -- I am a ribbon junkie, put it on anything that will stand still long enough, and I have alot of them bought 1 at a time with coupons at Michaels and, sad to say, you are right, haven't seen them there anymore. My hubs made me a wooden brace that I could use to stabilize them when I took them to crops. They are brittle and break very easily. Cheers to you! Love your room!

Hi Karen. Its nice to know my craft room storage video is still helping fellow crafters looking to get organized! Also, the ribbon storage bins, last time I checked, can be found at the Container Store. I'm not sure if it can be ordered online. Since this video I have found a much better way to store my stamps so I'm hoping to get a video of that up soon. Thanks so much for watching!

Hi again. I have a Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Grand Caliber, in manual die cutting machines. Plus an E-bosser electric cutter (similar to the Vagabond, only with a larger size cutting platform than Vagabond). Also I have a Cricut Expression and Cameo Silhouette electronic cutting machine. If I had to choose just one manual cutter it would be the Grand Caliber, as it is the most versatile of the manual cutters. The cutting plates are much larger to allow cutting of multiple dies at one pass, or the gutting of extra large Grand Caliber dies. And if I were choosing just one Electronic cutting machine it would be the Cameo Silhouette. This machine is fabulous and I highly recommend it.

The rubber wasn't hard to remove at all. The newer stamp blocks are a bit tricky, but I hear popping them in the microwave for a few seconds helps to soften the glue. I've not had to do that because all of mine came off just fine. Oh, and Sylvester Stallone is my imaginary husband, I can not have a scraproom without him. LOL. TFW.

I purchased the easy foam online at stampersbest. They are quite inexpensive and storing rubber stamps this way is saving me a lot of space and money. Soon I will be posting more videos on how to scrapbook when you don't have a lot of time and still make great layouts. Please feel free to subscribe so you can let me know what you think. TFW!!

Thanks. Its an inexpensive way to store the punches and it saves so much space. Of course IKEA and places like Target have the more fancier ones but these work just fine. Hope it helped. TFW!

I think that you have a great thing going. I also learn a new thing or two from you :) Just one suggestion is to use a card file box and cut your scraps to a size to fit in the card file box organized by color or by season whatever works for you. One thing--Give sweet Lil Rambo a {{{hugz}}} from MamaK and Princess Pepper Pud Paws

LOL! Just how new are you...love all your ideas! And right away, I'm inspired with what to do with my scraps. I know a lot of people color code them and put them into the jumbo Ziplocks, but I have mine in large, portfolio type binders with handles and accordian file pockets. Hate it! You don't know how freeing it was to see yours just loose in a container! I'm reorganizing my scrap room, so have lots of empties and I'm going to dump my scraps in one TODAY! Easy to just stir them around and find what you need! So thanks. Oh, and sadly, my Dollar Tree doesn't have a lot of the neat storage items you found.

I was looking for a way to store my scraps and as it turns out, this big bin really did work for me after all for several reasons: 1. Every time I look thru it I get to see what's in there so I won't forget. 2. the 'sorting by color' business would drive me bonkers, I'm not that disciplined, however, every now and then I go go thru the scraps and organize them by SIZE, not color or company, etc. there is a certain freedom to it, lol.

Denise, I understand what you mean. I liked the look of all my wood stamps too but it just wasn't ideal for me to keep them as they took up way too much space in my small work space. One suggestion is to build a shelf for them.

Hello!! So you're a Boriqua Scrapper like me!! So cool! I really enjoyed your video:) I had to turn half my kitchen into a scrapping area and I still get flack for it. You shop at Daiso's too and they're really great. Keep up the art and thanks for sharing!

Hey Julissa! I love Daiso, I always go for the double-sided tape which works better than any scrapbook tape I've ever used. Even better than the redline tape. (shh) and before YT I never knew anyone who scrapbooked, let alone a bori...

It's ok! The dollar store has a lot of practical stuff! No need to spend an arm and a leg on a piece of furniture when you can find something similar for less =]. It's like clothes in my opinion: brand name doesn't matter as long as it doesn't affect its purpose. And what you did with your wooden stamps was brilliant. It's good to know that making a scrap room or any craft room doesn't have to be an expensive process.

It sure doesn't have to be expensive! I'm always looking to find ways to organize my scraproom without spending a lot of money. I've made many changes to my space since the video and I'm looking forward to showing new ideas. I learn so much from watching videos. I hope this video helped.

Newbie?! For a newbie, you sure do have a lot of stuff. I've been scrapping for years and my room is a walk in closet stuffed with shelves and supplies. Great ideas and great video! Thanks for sharing. btw: You probably already know this, but you can also use those unwanted cd cases. That what I have and I use a cd tower to store them. Keep them coming!

I say newbie because I'm still totally learning how to use all this stuff. Sometimes I buy things (on sale of course) without knowing how to use them and I buy them simply because I saw someone here on KZread talking about it. It takes forever for me to learn how to use something. Thanks for the tip. TFW!

Just wanted to thank you for all your great ideas on a budget. I love Ikea stuff, but the prices are really higher than I am willing to go. I do not scrapbook, but I make greeting cards and all kinds of other paper crafts, so many of your ideas are really great for me. I have subscribed to your KZread page. Thanks again!

Finally...somebody gets me, LOL. The prices at are Ikea are out of my budget. If I saved up for just one table I wouldn't be able to buy paper for weeks, maybe months depending on what I get from Ikea. I wanted to get into making cards so now I'm saving for a die cutting machine. Maybe the Grand Caliber, Big Shot, Cuttlebug, the Sizzix one, or the Vagabond. Not sure which to get because I don't know anything about either of them. Any suggestions? Dottie, thanks for watching and subbing!

gimmethisvideo Sorry but that reply that just was sent to you under the name Jenee Todd was actually from me, Dottie M. jenee is a friend of mine and she was over and using my computer and forgot to sign out so when I came to You Tube today to answer your reply I didn't notice that I was still in her You Tube account. So the letter about which die cutting machine to use came from me not her. I hope this makes sense.

It makes perfect sense, LOL. And in fact I will be taking your advice on the Cameo. I have made the definite decision to purchase one as soon as I can. But instead of the Caliber, which is the manual machine I wanted, I ended up buying the Bigkick. (I know, I know). But price was an issue since I've been on a shopping binge lately. So far I like it and have no need to use a bigger platform yet. Cause I'm still learning how to use it.
