    Damn that sucks! I thought all these bigger motors were copper! Guess this is why you should always check first lol

  • @Ph0t0bug
    @Ph0t0bug8 жыл бұрын

    Nice video.... But not all pool motors just have alum. Better brands use the copper. I always cut into the coil first to look to see if it is Alum. If it's copper I go ahead and take it apart. Bigger motors can have up to 15 lbs of copper. Still nice to get ideas on better ways to take them apart thought. Nice job.

    OK buddy, 1st of all I love your videos, but on this one I must offer a few points of interest that you might find more profit in. 1st of all, time is money as I am sure you know, always use the angle grinder on the casing. 2nd if you do any building or fabricating or fixing of anything take that damn bearing off of the centre shaft and set it aside for future use 3rd and definitely not the least you didn't mention the value of the silver contacts that are present in the top panel of the pump. And please be aware as I hope you are, not every pump is aluminium wiring, it is always worth getting to that point and checking before tossing it in the mixed metal bin. End if I may offer a timesaving suggestion, rather than bothering to mess around with a pry bar and a hammer on the vice to remove the face plates, once the screws are out just throw the sob on the concrete a couple of times, Most of the whole mess will fall apart before your eyes

    What silver contacts ??

  • @johnnywyld2473

    @johnnywyld2473

    @@alecbeal1706 There should be several, and most pumps you will have long bars of copper that end with round silver contacts that are the on off switches effectively for the main motor, there are also black circular kind of flat canisters that are bolted in usually with 1 or 2 screws at the point where all of the wiring is on the one side of the pump. Now inside of those black plastic canisters you will find a steel disk on either side of that steel disk there should be at least one if not 2 little silver buttons.

    Yeah i Agree With Ya, not worth it, i dont always agree when i hear some1 say - it aint worth it, esp bout microwaves, esp when u gonna go buy magnetics strips post em to the wall hanging tools, simply take em out of the microwaves. Todays vacuum cleaners aint worth the full break dn either. The ole skl Kirbys are tho, but the one i have my DaD owned in 1986 & i aint lettin it go for Scrp. Good Job. Stay Encouraged

    +MissionScrappr Will I stay away from Vacuums... dusty ...I sell as is. Microwaves, I love to scrap. Lots of copper. I must try that with the Magnets. I have at least 50 lbs of Hard Drive Magnets. I can do it with those too.

    how much steel bits can be on aluminum like the flywheel from your mower scrap, did it have steel insert? would that still be ok if it had? specifically i have a few dirt bike aluminum swingarms. they have steel inserts at the pivot. do i have to remove those? thanks

    Hey Mike how long would it take you normally to dismantle one of those pumps? And how much do you get for them untouched?

  • @nicolaschu9599

    @nicolaschu9599

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Mike mac the untouched weight would be approx. 15-17 pounds plus the plastic and wire. That would be about $1.60-$1.70 according to current motor prices. Personally, I would just clip the cord and scrap the motor "untouched" and I would probably make about $2

    there's a better way in my option to take the motor out of its case. the motor is held in there because a stamper "nails" the motor on to the casing. the nail would be the case. you can find these little dents in the case. then you get some drill bit and drill out that hole so that dent doesn't hold in the motor.
