This scrap pile creation has been one of the handiest things I have ever made! I no longer have to break out the backhoe or drag logs through the mud. Back over them, hook up, lift, and go! Now that the sawmill is up and going. This is going to be a huge help! Especially when it comes to over road transport. A 16 foot log is a little wide to go down the road on the forks of the backhoe. Now I can haul them with a truck or tractor and go over 5 mph.
I put it to the test a while back. I hauled 7 or 8 nice pine logs from a few miles down the road. My 1000 pound Harbor Freight hand wench was not up to the task. Therefore I replaced it with a 5000 pound one. After I overcame that. It was smooth hauling.
It’s not as fast as loading them on a big trailer, but definitely gets the job done with ease. If you haul logs this is a must have! Some places like where I got the big pine logs. You just can’t get a trailer in. Without this piece of equipment it would have been much more difficult. Behind my little 8n it is much easier to get in tight places and get logs.
