Emma I make a slip cover style cover with no base. I make it quite snug and it’s easy to remove and wash regularly. As for the overlocker threading, take the thread out of the tension dials and knot the threads below that level. Put the new thread in the tension dials and that should work for you. Love the fabric. Good luck in your new studio.

Your stool turned out lovely, Emma. It really suits you and your room❤ This was very educational actually - one looks at a cylindrical pouffe like that and thinks, "Oh, I could cover that easily!" Ha ha...... Thank you for sharing with us that it's more tricky than it appears!!! Using velcro was a great idea! As you say, the bottom edge is not seen anyway. Woohoo - that's one studio decor job done, and it's gorgeous. 🎉 (Awww ... I miss the Cath Kidson shop in Belfast☹️)

I cut each thread by the cone, tie on the new thread and then pull each one through separately to prevent the knot from catching on anything in the machine. It's the fastest method by far!

You could treat it as a slip cover..the orginal cover all ready has a dark bottom designed to get dirty.. take the bottom u made off.. use that fabric to make welt cord/pipping (use whatever size cotton rope or cord you like) .. unstitch that side and tighten it up a bit... shorten the length a bit, run the welt along the bottom hem so that it barely grazes the floor when set down.. and that way u can just pull it off when u need to wash ir

Hi Emma I cut the thread on each spool one at a time and then tie a very thin knot with the color I want and pull each thread one at a time . I put all 4 threads tension to 0. After all the thread is through I put tension back to normal. I have done this for many years because I struggle with threading also. Love the Fabrics for the foot stool. Thank you for sharing . You are such a sweet young lady. Bless you. ❤

Love the footstool but I do have a soft spot for Kath Kidson fabrics. The best bit of advice I got when I bought my overlocker was to spend an hour just threading it from start to finish. If you are going to tie the threads you have to do it below the tension discs and I just use the wheel to manually feed the threads as the knots won’t go through the needles. Your new studio is looking great and will be a lovely work space.

I wonder how many folk "spot" stuff they have too. Today it was your dress (very pretty, but mine is a tad too long and I've obviously decided to go the "difficult" route and not just take up the hem ...) and one of the rose fabrics - blue with the smaller rose design - that came as part of the kit with the Cath Kidston book to make a bag. It turned out to be far too small a bag to be of practical use, so I think it will end up as sewing related items - no fabric goes to waste.

Hello - Haven't watched this yet as it is the middle of the day here and I am still buzzing around the house. But the title caught my eye so I had to comment. I have a foot stool staring at me that needs recovering and I'd love to do it in patchwork so cannot wait until tonight when I can rest and enjoy. ❤️

Well done in your quick thinking, I had a hick up today with cosmetic bag I am making, I but a stiff Pelion in the centre , but it was glued both sides so I thought great the outer and lining in one, it was only later I thought that’s rubbish as you will see all the joins . Sadly I couldn’t correct my silly idea. , but the foot stool looks lovely, well done on you great idea, Thanks for sharing today.

Just add a strong elastic around the bottom edge (add a band/channel around the bottom if the sides aren't long enough to turn underneath) and leave off the base altogether. No-one will know ....
