That cumulative effect was probably hyper magnified by the Hall of Mirrors providing dozens of reflections to give the anomaly a head start

Random Fact: Did you know that SCPs are classified based on how difficult it is to contain and not by its anomalous abilities? Foe example, a button that could destroy the entire universe is classified as safe, whereas a cat that could easily swap its position to any cats around the world is classified as keter.

This one is more of a psychological horror and visual than actual harm, its brilliant!

One thing I always appreciate about Dr. Bob is how well he manages to encapsulate the horror of some of the "safe" anomalies with these stories, rather than just reading the articles directly.

Many people have body dysmorphia as it is, some even suffer anoerexia because of it. Thank goodness this anomalous mirror would be safely locked away, if all this SCP stuff were real.

Agreed. This SCP has to have an addendum where it does something different for people who already suffer from body dysmorphia or other types, like gender dysmorphia.

@@Tiniuc You're thinking of gender *dysphoria*. I'm not sure if you can necessarily have gender dysmorphia? What would that be? Dysmorphia is a dissatisfaction with your body, dysphoria has to do with your gender identity (which is social/mental, not anatomical).

"Safe" doesn't refer to how dangerous the anomalous object/creature is. It refers to the ease or difficulty in containing the object and its effects. Safe: If you leave it in a box, it will stay in the box. Euclid: If you put it in a box, there is no certainty that it will remain in the box. Keter: If you put it in a box without extraneous procedures, it will certainly escape the box.

Uncontained, is an anomaly the foundation chooses not to contain because the cost of doing so outweigh the potential benefits. Finally Thaumiel is any anomaly designated by the Overseer Council to be used in specialised purposes.

I can tell this SCP has "Dorian Gray" vibes: a young man sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty. Then the object (in The Picture of Dorian Gray, it's a painting. But here, it's modernized to be a mirror) becomes cursed to represent the monstrous vanity and self-righteousness the young man has deep inside his heart. I may be wrong here, but that's just what I'm getting from this.

Beside the whole deal part and getting something beside pain. It more like someone got "Brain going crazy over something that normal" but made it strange and creepy.

finally a good SCP again, something mysterious without a perfect history to where it came from. Just an ordinary object with an unexplainable effect, which is just secured and not used as a weapon or anything like that.

That's a good question, SCP-056 always takes on a more beautiful appearance than the person or object she sees so in a situation like this would it drive her / it insane as well

My reflection shows I have seventeen eyes, but I can only feel two. Either I have a horrible sense of touch or something is wrong here!"

@@Subject_Keter It is a perception change in relation to reflections. Judging by the statement present at 7:47, subjects looking at their own skin will recognize no such alterations to their body had occurred. Additionally, in the original SCP article, there is no indication that an individual would be inclined to either believe or disbelieve the changes in the reflection to be actual bodily changes. So again, if we reach the point where the reflections start looking like 8:11, 11:27, or 13:59, why wouldn't touching one's face make them realize that something is up?

The art for this one is really off the charts, all in favor of a commendation for Dr. Bob on this one

However, for those of us living in Eurasia or the Balkan's, we will never truly be fully accepted by them, and honestly that is alright.

This is such a simple but interesting concept for an SCP. Our reflections give us our perception of who we are and how we are doing based on appearance. So, an anomaly that warps our perception of who we are and who we appear to be is a horrifying concept.

What if the victim doesn’t care about how they look?

As someone who is very self conscious of my own image, this is genuinely horrifying. I am ugly enough already, I really don't need a body dysmorphia mirror to make it worse

I've been to Brokenbow Oklahoma, there is NOTHING there, it's actually impressive how little there is. I would be impressed if an event like that has even happened there it's so poor and disconnected.

I think SCP-343 and SCP-999 might have potential to cure that sh_t.

Just makes me wonder, will they still see a distorted form of themselves through drawings made by others? If they perceive themselves as altered in digital media, will they still see themselves as altered through the handiwork of another? If so, how detailed does it have to be for them to considered the drawing as their altered selves as opposed to a barely recognizable version of what they may/may not look like?

Why don't victims just feel their face? They can't feel the things most likely

this SCP could be the only one that can reveal what SCP-056 really is or even keep it under control

Your wife sounds like a lucky lady.

I can see this SCP use its power in a dangerously positive way. Like if an overweight person or underweight person were already unhappy about their body and wished it to change then looked into the mirror, it would show them at a different body type that they want, altering their perception as shown in the video. As it shows the fat person seeing themselves as buff/slim or the skinny person as a healthier body weight, they'd think it was their diet or lifestyle, think nothing about it and put themselves in increasingly dangerous situations of their health because why not? I'm getting buff from Doritos, Mtn. Dew and Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

Honestly if I was the researcher in charge of this anomaly after it was restricted to storage only I'd put in a request to have it destroyed completely in an incinerator probably would happen like but I'd definitely put in the request once

Fortunately dr Bob is protected from this one because he literally has no face
