You can tell when something is up with him when he starts having little pauses between each word. It also seemed suspicious when he said I do not recognize the bodies in the water and then said "good" a bit too enthusiastically, like he's fighting with himself to convince himself that not recognizing them is good. Excellent work

I like how the tone of voice changes at the "Can you hear us? We're waiting..." line at the end. It sounds calmer and kind of sinister, while everything before that was desperate and pleading and emotional. Like the narrator's breakdown wasn't real, just part of the effect to lure you to the lake.

Regardless, it's a cool idea. It isn't written that it would do that to a sociopath just as it isn't written it wouldn't, so why argue? Nothing wrong with some speculation. Some anomalies do react different depending on individuals with illnesses or otherwise, they just usually state them if they do. But not every writer is going to go THAT far with it. Edit: And if you really doubt the possibility remember at the very beginning of the episode the mention of memetic resistance, people already naturally have varying degrees of resistance to memetic effects, to the point with some of it being considered anomalously high. What's to say someone with sociopathy might not be more resistant to emotionally impacting memetics? It's too convoluted to really -know- so it's in the realm of possibility

My defense against this is that I wasn't even born until two decades after this "incident" would've taken place. Now as this is a cognito hazard, it probably would update itself to my appropriate year. That aside, there are a few ways to look at this. 1) The lake is a predator that uses cognito hazards to hunt, and the SCP are actually trying to Secure the area, Contain the hazard, and Protect the public. The class of XX is just the message the lake makes up to guide you to its dark, murky depths. 2) This is another SCP blunder they actively caused with the class of 76 and are actively trying to cover it up. 3) there really was a class of 76 that went swimming in an anomalous lake that ended in disaster and any survivors are alive because the SCP foundation where also there do to strange disappearance reports and decided to check out the lake (Basically view 1, but with a twist from view 2 that makes the scp potentially look bad).

I had a nice long thing typed up and accidentally deleted it, so I'm gonna keep this simple. SCP-2316 is caused by SCP-3125. SCP-3125 and SCP-2747 got into a fight, and as usual, 3125 lost. 3125 is at the bottom of the lake - it calls out to the students - they cannot beat the living idea that is 3125 - they drown. 3125 now has bodies and emotions to use - it brings more people in to further power its own informational body.

@@samwill7259 I feel like issues arrive when you have differently abled people as employees for things like this. While containment breaches aren't exactly commonplace, they're more frequent than fires in businesses, so if someone was challenged in mobility, they'd be nothing but a hindrance. As far as things like blindness or deafness, those have issues of their own. It is usually toned down than entirely nullified (unless something really extreme happened, which is certainly possible). A question would arrive of how effective would they be in the first place? Like, a blind guard. Maybe his hearing is better tuned but he probably isn't like Daredevil or anything, and if he wasn't entirely blind, just legally blind, he would still be affected by the lake and not be the greatest guard. How about deafness? Could be useful, maybe, around sound specific anomalies, but again, pure deafness is rare, and if it did happen they wouldn't be the best guards unless they had some form of an implant, at which point you might as well hire a more standard person. I'm sure there's some specific guards, researchers, D-class personnel, and maybe even one in the 05 council (we know very little about them, it would be unlikely, but possible), its just that because if their specific nature they would be slotted nearby SCPs that fit that bill to a T, especially when there are no other options (which have been showcased by drones and fences to deter individuals. Certainly not perfect, but could work).

A good way to combat this scenario would be to have a team of drones controlled by those resistant to cognitohazards, or locked in a secured room with amnestics at the ready. Have a drone drop a sub-bot into the water in order to get a closer analysis of the entity or entities. This would minimize the risk of losing more personnel to the hazard, and should they be taken by the urge to pull one out this could provide an opportunity for more studies.

I never got this to work like that, I don't think the bodies actually look like one of your real friends/family, they don't change. I don't think it will make you see people you already know, but it will make you think you recognize the people that were drowned there, like they were your friends and your family, even if they are not. So no, knowing no people would not prevent the cognito hazard from manifesting.

The SCP Foundation is definitely sus, based on the information given I am not surprised that it's a Foundation made SCP created as a side effect of their actions. SCP-2316 A camouflaged devourer with psyhic abilities(that is using mist also to manifest it's powers and possibly appendages) that doesn't regard any distance that can see from any distance the person who observed it and then it implants obssession in order to feast on that person in order to gather more power. If the entity gathers more bodies it is possible to be more dangerous. The more a person stay in that body of water the more the entity can access the memories. The shapeshifter entity use that bodies in a state of catatonic preserved state to use their resentments as a way to lure more people while keeping them captured also. The poison it induces is paranoia and survivor guilt with a masked zone of fake comfort inside that place". It torments the victim with it's effects and when the victims approaches the lake it lowers down gradually the attack wave in order to be baited by less and less pain even if they attack using a mind offense pain of frequency. It's an anglerfish-medusa entity, the water of lakes are a perfect place for them to manifest. Meet one in my town lake but evaded that presence at it used the love craving as a method for influence, it produces a cool dense atypical mist tho to engulf people in fear and death, I enjoyed that mist tho, it was calming for me, I know I'm spooky. The kind of entity that can be handled by robots or cyborgs or the best way a bomb. It surely needs some reality anchors because this entities appear only under some special conditions and in case of perceived danger they go back to their deep underwater safe dimension. They use water as portal mirror for fishing humans. Looks like they have various adaptations. Exorcist Angel ^3^
