Technically, 2006 still does its job pretty well: if the SCP foundation take strict mesures to countain it, it is because the prospect of what it is capable of scares the foundation.

One story implies he might be only humoring them by staying in containment most of the time. He has no limits, only what he knows scares people. Even some vintage monsters are very dangerous and still creepy. What if his preferred form was the Rhedrosaurus, a 200ft lizard who's blood contains a deadly disease? Humanity would be screwed if not for his friendly demeanor.

Story time! One day 2006 breached containment during Halloween and he understood it was all a ruse, because children laughed at him. He was sad and walked aimlessly until he found a "haunted" house. He spent hours staring at the house and understood that SUSPENSE is what creates fear. He was captured again, but he went into a state of catatonia. Not moving, watching movies, or scaring others. He just laid there. Waiting. Plotting. Everybody on the site was terrified. Genuinely terrified, because they just didn't know what he was planning. He spread untold fear by allowing others to "fill the space" with their own imagination of what would be the most terrible thing that could happen.

I think there is a difference between scaring people and bringing terror. 2006 seems like it doesn’t want to hurt anyone, just scare them. Scared is like when someone jumps out at you from behind a corner. Terror is when someone is in your house trying to hurt you and your loved ones. I think the distinction is an important one to make when talking about 2006

This is also what defines a truly horrifying movie and a gimmicky jump scare movie. True fear doesn't manifest from the known but what you don't know. If your friend jumps out of your closet and scares you, then you aren't really scared, but shocked. If a random methhead jumps out of your closet, then you probably will experience true fear because you have no idea what this crazy person will do or is capable of.

A part of me has always wondered if this SCP was actually smarter then we think, that it knows the foundation is bullshitting it but as a result its able to maintain a guise of innocence and curiosity; curiosity that the head researchers find horrifying due to the aforementioned implications of discovering war or paranoia. Is it possible 2006 is letting the SCP contain itself like this as a means of perpetual fear?

Actually it escaped once during halloween and then it felt the fear of the unknown when it looked in an old dark house. After that it has stayed eerily silent and the foundation has basicly freaked out.

as much as I agree with you, with everything we know that has happened in this foundation, do you really want to take that chance?

dont forget when 2006 managed to escape and learned about suspense and proceeded to return to containment and do nothing... the foundation was so scared because he wouldn't move, speak or acknowledge anyone... it look months before a researcher realised he had learned of the true terror obtained through suspense and fear of the unknown

I like 2006. He doesn't seem like a bad guy. His compulsion to scare people could result in him going overboard, but I think he'd feel bad if he ended up harming anyone.

I can see a situation where Dr. Bright wanted to prank his colleagues where he uses SCP 2006. Imagine a party the staff have & it includes a buffet. Everyone is stuffed & enjoying themselves then all of a sudden Dr. Bright brings in 2006 after having watch "2 girls 1 cup". You can see where this is heading. Lol

Considering his demeanor when he isn’t actively scaring, just being polite and laughing with researchers, I think if he actually caused true damage beyond a brief spook, he would be deeply affected and upset

He is already scary, just not in the way you think. The foundation is scared of him discovering what actually is scary (i.e. 096, 682, and other dangerous stuff)

This is one of my favourites. You did it justice. Animation, writing, Hunter's voice work... yes. This is good.

This SCP is a little hokey, but as far as hokey containment procedures go, it is FAR BETTER than SCP 2845, the Deer God. SCP-2845 is described by its creator as 'it doesn't think, but is', yet it is somehow fooled into thinking it's contained, and was scared to that location by copious amounts of bombs that don't harm it....which is a little strange and ham-fisted for an entity that is stated as not having thought. The SCP attempts meta commentary by making fun of the more elaborate containment procedures some SCPs have, but in doing so, it contradicts its own character. Compare to SCP-2006, a limitlessly powerful shapeshifting entity that does think, and is perpetually 'fooled' into believing it knows what scares humans because the SCP foundation is scared of what might happen if it finds out what actually scares people. The meta commentary of this story hits on a whole different level because SCP-2006 is scaring the entire SCP foundation into pretending they are scared of crappy B Horror movie tropes.

I have heard one story about a containment breach where 2006 goes outside actually scares some people and finds a scary old house the foundation comes and it willingly goes back to containment and just does nothing the explanation is that it felt scared because of the house relising the fact that suspension and tension can be the scariest thing so it does nothing everyone is afraid of what it's going to do

An here I thought "We'll send him cheesy movies, the worst we can find" was just the containment procedures for janitors in red jump suits that are not well liked by the Administrator

I'd like to see a story where SCP 2006 was asked what else it likes to do, and embarks on a journey of self-discovery. So many ways it can breach containment, but to what end?

The trick is to just be scared because the potential he possesses is actually scary.

What would happen if the foundation did the opposite? Where a serious threat was shown to 2006, but all the people reacting to it were all editted to laugh and smile at it. Like show 2006 footage of 106 terrorizing researchers, but edit to footage to make it seem like they’re having fun.

I don't think I'll ever be convinced that SCP-2006 is dangerous. I mean, it's goal is to scare but NOT to harm. It's seen people being harmed, or a facsimile thereof, in those awful movies, but REFUSES to inflict any harm at all. I'd wager that if it did know about real terrors, it would copy their looks and threatening behavior, but NEVER hurt anyone.

Very likely. Seeing the shapeshifted face would be like seeing a picture of 096, though unless the shapeshifter themselves looked into a mirror, I think they'd be safe.

It could recreate what 096 looks like but technically since it's NOT 096's REAL face, nor is it a photo, it shouldn't trigger 096 rage state. Think of it like a more detailed artist's depiction.

Ngl, my favorite part of this scp is that tasty reference to one of the greats in crummy low budget horror flicks from the fifties.

I mean, it wouldn't be that hard to act fearful around 2006 cuz if you stop and think abut it for a second, that's NOT a human in a funny, cheap looking gorilla suit. That's an absolutely alien entity that can literally turn into ANYTHING and you have no idea what it's capable of. So yeah, that IS pretty scary.

What i would like to see is During a containment breach 2006 witnesses ( insert scp here ) scaring people as they run in horror. He is no longer docile and the foundation is having trouble undoing what he has learned.

Neutralization suggestion: Feed him information about 2521 at the cost of a D-class. Before he can shapeshift, he has possessed the knowledge about 2521 and how the foundation is scared of it (or atleast get a few personnel to act scared, without them knowing what 2521 is). So, 2521 takes him away.

It should be a appolyon let me explain it you. Imagine if it sees the the horrors of war? Like world War 1 and 2 ? Imagine if it sees a movie on mass human extinction by a meteorite and then shape shifts into one killing everyone? Imagine if it sees the effect many diseases have on humans? Or Imagine if it gets to know about scarlet King or scp 682 and how much the 05 council and other members of scp foundation are scared? These are some reasons why it is so dangerous and that it should be terminated asap.
