Great tour! It does exactly what you need. Like the others said, Scout should direct potential customers towards this video. Very direct and truthful. Too bad about the drone. Things happen. You could be a spokesperson for Scout. How much work are the airbags for the rear suspension? Keep them coming, I love the videos.

Thanks Dad! I am hoping so 🤞🏻The airbags are fairly easy, and should only be about 2 hours of work and just a few bolts! Hopefully ill have those upgraded sometime before summer!

It's been 11 months since this video so maybe you've already realized this, but the cooktop you already have is the one that can be (and was originally designed to be) inset into the countertop if you wish. What you have there is just a metal box with the cooktop inset into it, so if you unscrew the two screws on the top then you can lift the cooktop out of that metal box and it's ready to inset into the counter (just need to cut the right size hole in the counter first).

Cool Rig! Maybe, if you still have the solar panels from earlier videos, they would help to keep the battery charged. You could add them to the roof rack and maybe series them with the existing solar.

I ended up getting rid of them, which is a bummer. Its also a mixed bag, of going days without sunlight, and not having enough power. Im hoping to double my battery size, and get another set of panels to hopefully make up for the difference.

very cool for camping people. being if the "motel type camping", this is so informative for the young folks that are into traveling w/ camping. It is the best way to see, visit our beautiful country., I have always been a car trip kind of gal. Love, You, Grandma Buck

Does your truck have a leveling kit installed on the front suspension? I wouldn't think an F-350 would be so nose high with a fairly light camper. Great drone work and videography!

I believe it does, be bought it used, so im not 100% sure what the previous owner did to it. But based on my measurements, it appears to have a level kit. The video shows it to be slightly more nose high than it actually is, but I think the bags will still help a lot with leveling, and ride comfort of course. Thank you so much for your comment!

Thanks for the tour. We have a T@G teardrop trailer and are looking at upgrade options that can be towed or carried by our Chevy 2500HD 3/4 ton truck. I've been wondering about the Scout campers as an option. We don't need something so fancy with AC and whatnot, so it seems ideal. I'll need to contemplate how well a Scout will ride on a 3/4 ton. While our trailer has a galley with a stove and sink, I tend to use a 2-burner propane stove on the picnic table. It's a lot a lot easier when the galley isn't splattered by bacon grease. You might rethink cooking inside. But, to each their own. I do have an all-in-one diesel parking heater that sets outside and circulates air through 3" flexible duct pipes. I agree that it really generates a lot of heat. I don't have a way to measure it, but I've heard that the 5 KW units are actually more like a 3 KW, which is 10,000 BTU. Since they are a closed combustion system that draw air for combustion from the outside and exhaust to the outside, I believe that they are far safer than running a Mr Buddy heater or something similar that uses inside oxygen. My only complaint about diesel heaters is that they dry out the air. Since we camp at high altitudes where the air pressure is low and the air is dry to begin with, running the heater can give headaches and nose bleeds. On the other hand, if you get wet then the diesel heater will absolutely dry your clothes. Our diesel heater draws about 10 amps to get the glow plug running, then once it fires up the amp draw drops to about .8 to .9 amps. Fuel usage is about a quart for 8-10 hours... about a 1/2 cup an hour.

Thanks! I think the Kenai would be perfect for a 3/4 ton. I have a 1 Ton, and it's a little bit too stiff in the front end suspension.

The pull-out steps on the Ford to get into/out of the camper is genius! Where do I find that?

Great video man! How tall are you? Your head looks close to hitting the ceiling. I'm torn between the Scout Kenai and the Northern Lite 811. The Kenai is nice and simple, but the Northern Lite has all the creature comforts. Airbags are a definite must with a truck camper. You can also use the airbags to level your truck when you are parked on uneven terrain. Take care!

Hi Brian! Thanks so much for the comment! Im about 6 foot, and maybe the angle of the camera was bad. But I have a good 4-5 inches between the top of my head, and the ceiling. THe worst part is the door. Its MUCH roomier than I thought it would be when we first ordered it. The northern lites for sure have way more creature comforts, but we really like the size and features of the Scout, obviously its not perfect for everyone. But we really dig it so far! And Bags are #1 on my list for this spring!

@@FoxandFir I just got a quote for airbags on my truck. It's roughly 3K with the compressor and installation. The compressor is $1500. I can't wrap my head around why the compressor is so expensive? I guess convenience. I need to do research with it.

Im actually just going to get a set of "simple" ones, that can be inflated with a normal compressor. It's looking like its going to be about $400USD ish for the set up I want, and then I can just use my little Milwaukee 18V tire inflator. Im looking at the Rough Country ones. It looks easy enough to install myself.

@Brian A. Simmons if you are coming down from a fifth wheel I would definitely recommend the northern lite. They are probably the best out there for the money. I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to one from a Capri Camper.

Thank you for the roof shot. I can see now that you can NOT order the skylight and NOT order the roof rack. You should then have enough room to add three 200-watt plus solar panels. Heck you might even be able to use the exist solar panel's cable hole or integrate the new panels with the included 175-watt solar panel there. Too bad they didn't place the vent for the kitchen on the side and not the top of the camper.

I’m not convinced that the extra solar will help me all that much to be honest. My biggest problem is staying charged in winter. Nights are long and it’s usually cloudy, so the solar won’t help at all. I would love a larger battery system, and find a way to harness wind energy. Jackery has a wind turbine that would be phenomenal coming down the pipeline, hoping it will be released in 2024 or 2025.

Agree. I have a gas generator for those cloudy days. My rig has a solar generator and a gas generator both of which I've used a lot. @@FoxandFir

Buy a BIG BATTERY OWL and charge with that. The big battery is very powerful, but it's a nice battery

It’s going to be really hard to find a camper like this, that’s meant for off grid camping to have a AC. They power requirements are just so large. You might be able to find one that has an AC, but you will be needing to run some sort of generator, or have an insane amount of battery capacity.

@Fox + Fir I live in Capri Camper full time by choice and so it's a must to work and sleep in. 2000-2500 watt inverter gets the job done. If you just camp on weekends and can pick your days then the Scout works well.

Oh thats awesome. Do you run a generator then? Or do you just have a giant battery array? There is a rumor that Scout is making an AC for the campers, but ill believe it when i see it.

Hi! You do, but the heater comes with a self venting cap that you can use, that works pretty well.
