Wow what an amazing album! 4 of 5 and I should have known Phil Anselmo was a part of this!

these first few scour ep's remind me of the outright verocity and venom of sammy & ben on goatwhore's first few albums.

I'm definitely digging SCOUR. They don't look black metal, but they sure as fuck sound like it.

Necrotic Nick- I was shocked when I heard them at first namely because I wasn't sure how Phil would adapt his vocals too black metal. He nailed it and he got a killer band to do this shit with him.

Just finished listening to this (didn't take long, haha); this is some pretty intense blackened death metal! I can't say this EP is something I'm going to listen to on a regular basis, but definitely a cool expansion of Phil's vocal range.

Necrotic Nick- Intense is definitely the right word for it. I’d like to hear them go for a full length but I’ll settle for more insane EPs. It’s hard to believe it’s actually Phil on there with how twisted those vocals are.

also it makes sense as to why Phil used to wear all those Darkthrone and Immortal tshirts back in the day, he always had a thing for black metal

I remember Phil Anselmo saying in a interview that nowadays he prefers to mainly release EPs instead of full length albums. Probably because he can crank out more stuff in shorter time frames with his many projects.

Necrotic Nick- That does make sense considering how many projects he's involved in. Hopefully they get around to releasing the last 2 Down EPs too.

Necrotic Nick- I may get it and just put it in a collection update. For some odd reason it’s hard to get stuff from Transcending Obscurity here.

Necrotic Nick- I love all their releases so far. Not sure if Phil can still hit those high notes anymore, but what he can do is still killer. 🤘

Supposedly Kerry King's new band is going to have Paul Bostaph and Phil Anselmo. Not sure who the bass player will be.

Necrotic Nick- I heard about that what seems like years ago. I hope he's still working on that project because that could be a solid supergroup.

i can't wait to get this cd! i only heard one song and it was fucking heavy! i'm not a huge black metal fan either but this is killer! i'm a huge fan of the 2nd wave stuff mainly Darkthrone , Immortal and Marduk. i'm not really into the depressing stuff its to boring and i'm already depressed enough lol.

Necrotic Nick- Still need to order mine. I forgot to order it when I was ordering the new Cadaver. I’m picky when it comes down to black metal but I generally gravitate to the more high speed, thrash stuff and this scratched that itch for me.

I think this is a good example of someone adapting to their circumstances. I am not a fan of Pantera (sorry!). But this is actually okay. Phil is a bit of a chump, but his voice sounds good.

Necrotic Nick- Yeah, he's had to make a lot of apologies for a lot dumb shit over years but I think he legit trying to make amends now. Seeing Pantera live all those times were huge for me, but there were some cringey moments in Phil's on stage diatribes for sure. Here lately he's really been all over the place musically and it's all been very different. Scour is just flat out nuts and he's got some legit nasty vocals on this. Great live too.

I think Phil is more responsible for getting people into to extreme metal than anyone else ever. He got me into Celtic Frost, and had Neurosis, Eyehategod, and Morbid Angel play with Pantera in the 90's and shit, metal owes him a great debt. Im glad hes still putting out great, relevant shit 30+ years in.

Necrotic Nick- First time I ever saw Morbid Angel was with Pantera in 2000 and he was rocking a Darkthrone shirt. I checked out Darkthrone not too long after and went out and snagged some Morbid Angel while I was at it. Pantera was always a solid gateway band to heavier stuff. I'm also glad he's still out there trying his hand at different extremes in music.
