Scottie Scheffler's arrest by the Louisville PD, and return to the PGA Championship

Спорт

An emergency reaction pod was in order after the shocking news that the sports world woke up to this morning: Scottie Scheffler, the #1 player in the world and betting favorite heading into the week at the PGA Championship, was arrested in the early hours of the morning on felony charges as he attempted to enter Valhalla Golf Club in the wake of a fatal traffic accident. Smylie Kaufman and Charlie Hulme lay out the timeline of events, discuss how it could have been handled differently, and look forward to the day ahead with Scottie back on the course and playing in the second round of the PGA Championship.

I cannot imagine the phone calls the Louisville mayor received this morning. One of the owners of Valhalla went and picked Scottie up at jail, so clearly they recognized this screw up. Imagine that car ride after. “Please don’t say you’ll never come back” lol

The Police officers in my opinion over reacted and now lied about being dragged by Scottie's car. Not all officers had yellow coats that said POLICE on them and look very similar to grounds crew or security. Scottie's car was labeled as a PGA car and he showed his pass. The officer who wrote the report must be a complete idiot not to be aware of these things and apparently not aware of his location and surroundings of being at the entrance of major PGA event where the players entered. Sounds like a egotistical officer not doing his job in the best interest of the situation and society. So much for southern hospitality. I would definitely press charges against that officer, especially excessive force. The reason the other officers were so nice to Scottie, because they know their colleague screwed up and are defusing the situation. Great show as always guys. Keep up the great work 😎

Kudos to ESPN and Jeff Darlington on covering this. They were to go to place from 6AM-Noon cause as soon as something broke Jeff went on to tell us. That was the shocking part Ill admit Golf Channel didnt have NOTHING until 1pm with a 3 minute video from Rex Hoggard and Rich Lerner on golf channel youtube. I echo what Smylie and Charlie said, our thoughts should go to that man's family that lost their loved one today (yesterday as I write this). I think Scottie may have been on the road when that text was sent at 539AM. Even before this happened, if you watched live from the players were saying its a logisticial nightmare at Vallaha. I know Will Zalatoris was saying his family wanted to visit he said dont cause its a nightmare getting there normally. Rickie said on a good day 30-40 min. Without seeing any body cam footage my first thought is that this is Barney Fyfe with a badge trying to take the attention away from the tragic accident. I wouldnt be surprise if Scottie got confused between who is helping out with the tournament and who was investigating the accident. Its a mind trip that this even happened to Scottie. I think the meme and the shirts that fans created were probably their way to cope with it. Like Smylie and Charlie said, Scottie is the VERY LAST person you would suspect would be charged with a felony, mistaemonors maybe cause of the confusion yes.

Kinda wack that you didn’t mention that Darlington said he saw the officer”attached himself to Scheffler’s car.” I think that significantly undermines the office’s account assertions.

I am not buying that the cops don’t know who chef is. They r working an event where chef is the star of the event. It’s a reverse St. George

Wow - you just never know what's going to happen. I find it hard to believe Scheffler would defy and INJURE police as described. There's been a horrible misunderstanding somewhere along the line here, i'd say. But if there wasn't, nobody is above the law.

You white folks just have toooo much respect for authority. You got 6 cops in missippi known as the goon squad getting 27 years for kidnapping torture, sexual assault. You got school teachers being convicted of raping under age middle school students. You got heroic military personal committing treason and yet you still find it nearly impossible to believe that a man with a badge would intentionally do anything wrong.
