Great video. A friend of mine bought a Spark less than a year ago and his shock lock-out keeps releasing on it's own. I assumed it would be covered under warranty (the lever system). They said it was a wearable part... What isn't a wearable part on a bike? The frame and handle bar? So, the bike really doesn't have any warranty! I've had issues with my Santa Cruz (seat post) and no questions asked (and no charge) it was replaced under warranty. These are not cheap Walmart bikes and Scott should do better at standing behind their product(s).

Half a year and you didnt check torque of your bike bolts?

Thanks for your comment. According to the bike manual, the maintenance has to be done twice a year. Thats why the manufacturer finally approved the warranty and changed the bike frame. Also, this bolt was supposed to be at an adjustment of 10 nm, BUT Scott recently changed the adjustment specification to 15 nm. So, I supposed that this change was done not because of my fault... Thanks again for your comment, because it allows me to give a more detailed explanation.

The torque specification change itself shows that Scott recocognized her fault mistightening the link bolt.

Sorry to see you having trouble. I had 4 Scott bikes, and the torque spec was always like written on the proprietary screw. I doubt they changed this. And that's why I left Scott, because of all those proprietary things... I bet for the stem cover they would have charged 30€ or so 😝

That's true... their profits should came for sales of accesories rather than the sales of bikes. That's ok for me, but the problem is that those accesories don't last as they should.

@@felipemlevy Same with Specialized. The aluminum frame screws quickly break. So that's unfortunately not a Scott problem. Anyway. What I forgot. Did you apply some light to medium Loctite on the shock screw? Vibrations caused by riding are crazy. They can easily loosen a 20 Nm tightened screw. So always use Loctite.

Thanks for your video. Unfortunately, I am having a squeak come from my bottom bracket area and after spending hundreds of dollars with the local bike shop who is a Scott dealer they still can’t find the problem. I spent $10,000 for this mount bike and I feel like I made a mistake.

I made a claim against the Scott's distributor in Peru (Southamerica), it is called "Tatoo". They refuse to apply the warranty, so i make a claim at the peruvian consumer agency protection, also made this video in english and spanish. At the end they 6 their opinion and recognized the warranty for my bike. Use this video to support your claim against the dealer in your city.

Same problem today! But with carbon frame, did they replace it under warranty?

Yes, they did it. BUT... only after i made a claim against them, at first they denied me the warranty, then i had to contact the government's consumer protection agency, and also made this video. This video also has a spanish version with more than 30k views. Hope that the Scott's distributor in your city take care of this problema faster than here. Because I had to wait almost 2 months for them to fix the bike.

My 2022 Scott spark RC team came new standard with a 15 Nm bolt. However making a terrible cracking/ticking sound from the headset (solved) and unknown location in the rear linkage.

what was the reason of this sound ? ( cracking/ticking sound from the headset ). Looks like i have the same and it's somehow related to lock-out cable

@@ilya_zimin We think the headset was not properly greased from factory, due to the design of the new cable routing we think the water can easily penetrate and stay, within a very short period the top bearings were extremely corroded.

Have you got your problem resolved? I am planning to purchase one.

Not yet resolved. Be cautious about this bike, maybe you wont have any problems at all. But if unfortunately you have any problem it is important that Scott as a brand will respond.

Maybe its just me, but i would have contacted Scott or at least tour local dealership before crafting a video essay flaming them. If you did so, ammend your original video post to include their response. I have seen 15k bikes with mechanical defects, so it there isn't really an Ivory tower brand that this "shouldn't happen with." Best of luck!

I was riding at some mountains near my house in Lima, Peru (Southamerica) and started to feel the bike a little weird. More like riding a horse because the rear shock wasnt absorbing anything. I don't make jumps.

I had this same thing happen on my carbon spark 22 rc. Luckily I noticed it after the bolt had pushed the rubber cover off, so was able to tighten it before it did any frame damage. But not a good look for Scott, and this should not happen.

Great to know that you could avoid this problem. Hope this video had helped in that. I suppose that Scott invested a lot in the design of the bike but too little in its functionality and durability

@@felipemlevy I don't think there are any issues with the bike. It will be more to do with their quality control - these bolts should have thread lock used on them and this would unlikely happen. So really it is an assembly issue, not a design issue. The bike is fantastic, but I would tell anyone who owns one to check the top suspension bolt regularly, and also the lower swing arm bolt is also prone to loosen. Again, Loctite and a regular check every couple of months or so should sort those issues.

Mine also just poppped out today. And cracked the carbon frame.

I was very lucky for finding it again. But the plastic parts (as the cockpit cover) are poorly disegned and also are cheaply made.

Probably assembled wrong, should have treadlock on those bolts as the manual recommend 🤔🤔

Wow, yeah the headsets are garbage. I have the same model in blue and my headset is already corroded. The ceiling mechanism is inadequate, and when the headset gets sand in it it makes a god awful, annoying sound. Finally getting that worked out with a little boot to cover the exposed areas. Hope I don't have problems with the rear like yours😢 The shock sucks too. Judy rock shocks used to be a reliable Ford but they have missed the mark.

scary how one tiny gone-wrong can ruin an entire bike frame

I was thinking of buying this bike but then my sponsor who was researching it further found this video and now were probably gonna move away from the Scott brand
