Scott's Gulf Wilderness State Park: Tennessee's Newest State Park
Spanning over 9,500 acres, Scott's Gulf Wilderness State Park is a wonderland located primarily in White County, Tennessee. The park is a blend of history and nature, offering visitors a chance to explore its diverse terrain and scenic beauty.
Visitors to the park can immerse themselves in a variety of natural features, from easily accessible places such as the panoramic Welch’s Point and subtly beautiful Lost Creek Falls, to the majestic Virgin Falls (which involves a strenuous hike to access). Besides the trails in the historic Dog Cove, the Park also manages access to the Caney Fork River at Mitchell Ford. While the park currently provides four primitive campgrounds and basic amenities, there are plans for improvements, including the addition of restrooms, a visitor center on Bon Air Mountain, future trails and overlooks, and additional primitive campgrounds. Scott's Gulf Wilderness State Park is not just a recreational area; it's a commitment to environmental stewardship and preservation, offering an escape into nature's embrace for those seeking tranquility and adventure alike.
The park’s development includes integrating existing public areas such as Virgin Falls State Natural Area, Lost Creek State Natural Area, Dog Cove Historic Area, and the Hardie Trailhead, which are all currently welcoming visitors.~~copied from the website

Hey Diana! It is a great place! There are so many places to explore in Tennessee :D
We hiked to Virgin Falls when we stayed at Floating Mills. It was incredible! Here is another for our list. Thanks. Lynn and Danny

I think you guys must have been at Floating Mill while we were in Ohio according to the flooding video you shared. I did not know you did Virgin Falls! The trail is a butt kicker, but totally worth it!

@@SL_BA I totally agree with the trail being a butt kicker. We thought we would not make it back. 😅😅
Really cool falls ! Done a good bit of spelunking back in the day but as I got older I realized I was claustrophobic 😵💫 so no more caves lol. Great video!

Hey Rick! This is a pretty wide open cave...neither one of us care for the small spaces either. Being in the dark, under all that rock squeezing through narrow slots...makes me shiver to think about it. Lol
When I was in high school a friend of mine family owned all that. Spent some fun times exploring there

Lucky you! We have a White County friend that was there before it was ever public land. Maybe the same friend? :D I (Malinda) am originally from White County, but I never explored here until an adult. Most of my family is from White Co., but not as curious as me and Scotty. I would loved to have known the area before it became a State Natural Area, and now a State Park.
I am so glad they are preserving it by making it an official state park. For those traveling, there's a little bakery in practically a shed on the way that's honor system. Marioochi's in Sparta is excellent for pizza if you're hungry after your hiking/caving adventure.

Yes! We love that we are getting more Tennessee State Parks :D We saw the little bakery on the way out, but we were headed to Marioochi's for pizza. It was our first time there. It was soooo good! Your after adventure eating recommendation is the best!
When I looked at the title, I thought it was the Gulf Wilderness State Park that was "Scottie's" favorite. I was wrong. lol. Checking out waterfalls never gets old...not so sure about the caves.

That is funny! It is a favorite of Scotty's...but not named after him :D This particular cave is pretty wide open, no small crevices to shimmy through...it is worth the effort to get back to the waterfalls.
