Thank you for this great video ! It is funny after watching it of course everything seems so perfectly common sense that you would think we would have known already....But only after hearing it did I have many Ah-Ha moments. Thank you very much :)

Any suggestion of a good and economical grinder that may serve as a reasonable partner with the Refractometer?

This presentation is so advanced. Even a normal English person doesn't understand what he's talking about. Refractometer, 19% extraction, seasoning a grinder and whatnot are stuff that scare normal coffee drinker away. I think IMO may be you also make the correct English caption as well

Not sure this was asked but how do you achieve a longer contact time with a coarser grind? The water will flow faster thorugh the coffee when the particulate is larger. Unless there is a flow control switch this doesnt make sense to me. You generally need to grind finer to increase the contact time.

thepiecesfit This is just my interpretation but I believe near the end, he clarified that notion. The point was a side by side comparison of 2 coffees with the same dts, one achieved through a coarser ground and longer brew time would be preferable to a coffee which was made with a finer ground and shorter brew time.

It will not work with immersion brewing or aeropress unless you filter out all the undissolved particles with fine paper filter. (Like chemex or hario ones) otherwise you cannot rely on refractometer measurements as it will be incorrect

You can buy it off vat coffee tools just google that right up. If you have an account with a specialty coffee roaster that supplies you tools, you could request one. Lastly, a coffee refractometer costs about ~1000 dollars but takes considerable amount of money to maintain the acesseries ($3 dollars a filter, you'll go through maybe 2 a day) and that's like $1000 upkeep a year

Few kilos of coffee to dull the burrs? Cmon thats super wasteful. I understand if you are running a coffee shop maybe. But a home user please dont waste your coffee.
