To be fair mr bruz isn't the most intimidating foe. In any fair public trial he loses to my understanding. The "worst" thing not so friendly jordies has done to him is be a fairly brief nuisance at a dining venue. Everything else has been either reasonable or completely ok. At least it should be in the modern western democracy we claim to be. Public figures don't have the same level of privacy as ordinary civilians. It's supposed to be one of the counterbalances to the job perks. It makes a politician look weak if he can't at least emotionally distance himself from low brow verbal attacks.

"fun" Hillsong story from the depths of my subconscious. When I was a teen, HS was doing an event in Melbournes so the Church I was part of wanted to send us kids to as a "spiritual" experience. The church organised some donations (which was fine) but also said that we (the kids) should bring some cash along too for food or merch. Again, all G until we got there. Our group leaders broke us into small groups and took us to the merch stands before the concert and basically pressured us into spending our cash. I got one of those WWJD rubber bracelets and some other crap. Then the leaders brought us all together and we had to show each other how much we spent, those who spent the most was praised for "showing real devotion"...good times Edit: don't feed the trolls

I just call the church system a tax avoiding corporate business ! . Paying op - shop managers $70,000 a year , area managers ,$100,000 , while using forced unemployed labour , the elderly , who do the real work ! .One well paid church Minister was illegally using the unemployed to do his house gardening ! The participants were only meant to be on the church site five K sway ! Well it backfired as while the dole workers did his gardening ( Also not insured against injury unless at the church ) A local person in the minister's street asked if they were gardeners and would they be interested in a quick $50 ! 😀♥️👍 So therse guys used church petrol , mower , equipment to make a quick buck for themselves ! ..

When I was a kid we had a similar event. It was sold to us as a pizza night and when we got there it was all weird home made pizza from the old ladies in the church (pizza with peas and carrots!) so when we tried to leave they locked the doors and wouldn't let any of the kids out until they had given their speeches and tried to get commitments to go into the the church when we finished school.

Charity money getting wasted or diverted is a scandal and nobody cares, that's the ones that don't just plain use their money to push the interests of a group or church.

Hillsong is actually terrifying. I've only been there once as I was working easter with my client with a disability. We were blind-folded and lead into a dark hall. The whole thing was fucking terrifying. Quite honestly I feel like they take full advantage of those who don't understand faith like those with disability and milk them for cash and if you don't donate to them you're seen as sinful and demonic. I'm not kidding this actually happened. I've got nothing against christians/catholics or anyone of any faith but if you belittle people because they can't afford to donate to you then you sure as heck aren't pushing the right message. And for anyone wondering I'm an agnostic.

First thing that came to my mind was the apology of sexual child abuse Scomo made in 2018, where he basically uses the misfortune of every single victim in Australia for his own purposes, only to turn his back on them years later by offering assistance to people who have protected accused pedophiles.

Slowmo should be charged with gross negligence causing death (of both life and economy) as you said quarantine falls under federal jurisdiction yet he has spooned it off to states to deal with it in their own way. Hes repeated what he did during the fires again. He's turned his back on the people of Australia hoping that someone else will deal with it. Heres a basic common sense question; what do you associate more with the word "pandemic"? A) hotels B) quarantine centres. Every covid case could have been prevented in this country if any form of half decent quarantine procedures were put in place at the start of all this.

Turns out Catholic priests became a meme due to all the media about it, when in fact teachers abuse more than priests. Also, there's no link between celibacy and child molestation. Pell lent his stature and status to cases where his church did what any business does: post the offender away somewhere and threaten complainants with years of legal wrangles. A supposedly autistic boy mistakenly thought my son had broken a stick he was playing with. That boy tripped my son on concrete stairs and my son's arm was broken. Lucky it wasn't his head, huh? I went to the school, enraged that the kid was allowed to be there at all. My son's teacher, in a talk with him where I wasn't present, had said "What are we going to do to punish [the autistic kid]?" That admission of guilt got that teacher transferred to another school where he's now principal. In a meeting with my son's principal, it was explained to me that the offender was autistic and didn't know the consequences of his actions. I pointed out how he'd burst into tears when he found out he was in trouble, and autism doesn't mean sociopathy. It was then explained to me they could do nothing and if I wanted to take it further i'd have to go to the board of education or the ombudsman. Corporate, arse-covering expediency. If my son had died they'd be just as responsible and just as smooth. Narcissism, money and expediency rule this country, as long as we're materially comfy we don't REALLY give a shit. It's making us hollow smart-arses.

He absolutely nails it on Hillsong. Hillsong attracts Christians at both extreme ends of the spectrum - the vacuous, narcissistic types who care less about helping their fellow man than being part of the scene and going along for the free rock concert every week, and those with limited critical thinking skills who view everything through a spiritual lens where everything is part of a metanarrative about persecution of the church. It's how snakes like Houston can operate for so long - half the congregation don't care so long as the lights and smoke machines still function, and the other half literally think the police going after Houston is Satan persecuting the church by attacking a holy man of God.

It is incredible that Scott Morrison's association with Hillsong has not been the subject of more scrutiny. These people are different - particularly in the Australian context. They adhere to the prosperity doctrine and are as fundamental in their beliefs as any Iranian cleric. It amazes me that Scott Morrison believes there is political mileage in promoting his Christian values by emphasising his membership of Hillsong. They are far less representative of the "true blue aussie values" held by the average Australian bloke of the type Scott seems to see as his natural peer. How mistaken he is. He has more in common with the rabid religious nuts inhabiting the more inbred parts of the American deep south than with anything that can be more familiar to Australian society. He is a nut who associates with nuts and uses his influence to promote their agendas. Why no one asks him directly about his beliefs, the literal interpretation of the Bible, the prosperity doctrine -a major characteristic of his 'church' is beyond me. He is not one of us. He is something completely other. An alien in our guts - but he's our prime minister. HOW?

They'll palm off saying that they do all this charity work but really they just line the pockets of the leaders. It's not actually caring if you're doing it for show, just like everyone who takes a video of themselves giving money to a homeless person for clout.

I’m Christian myself. I absolutely avoid Hillsong like a plague. It’s more like a theatrical show with a quick “Jesus” name drop to keep money flowing in. The Bible teaches us to have a gentle and quiet spirit. Being flashy and dolled up for “Church” really goes against the values of the Bible. They had a Christmas special event that was scrubbed from the internet due to being so controversial even it’s own members found it disrespectful. The only reason it’s a church is because they randomly throw in God’s name once in a while to keep the boomers pleased and the millennials feeling self righteous. Regardless of if you agree, disagree, like or dislike Christianity, it’s so blatantly a money hungry group who serves to execute a sham of a church and preaches weird, vaguely Christian songs about slow dancing with Jesus. Yeah. Not getting into that one. Please don’t argue about how Christianity is evil brainwashing or the superior religion. That was never the point of this.

@Politics Fan I would not describe my abuse by the parish priest as ritualized. There could be many like myself who lived within a family who saw the sun shine out of the parish priest. The abuse was random with no witnesses and always occurred within a "sacred space". We will never know how many victims, many have passed, some because of perceptions of guilt, alcoholism, drugs, depression and more. Abuse is abuse. The Catholic church not only wants to save face, but also save money in how they respond. Their first response is usually denial, the next is lack of evidence.

As soon as I found out who I was setting gigs up for and what they were about, I promptly never accepted work from them again. I don't give a shit what clothes he wears and I resent even spending time here writing this because it's a vain discussion to have in the first place, and here you've been self important enough to support your opinion with mine despite having no intention to check if you're even right. Talk about unimportant rubbish all you want, just leave me the hell out of it. Thanks 💋

I worked as a volunteer for hillsong church for many years and was very good with many of the church leaders, i worked in many different parts of the church and got to know a LOT of people. I even know where the secret security room is (as a kid mind you. 7yo - 15yo) Kids church - where the kids go after leaving the Main Auditorium to learn about god in kid kind of ways, run by volunteers who preach on stage and lighting and sound is also done by volunteers. The system in kids church works quiet well, ive never seen anything dodgy or questionable in my time working there. Probably because 5 year old kids dont have money to spend Security room - a small room with access to 500+ cameras since 2015, 200 micro cameras are hidden in walls surrounding the church (size of your thumb nail (you will never find the security room it unless security tells you where it is. I have been shown one of these tiny cameras in a wall by a good friend in security when i told him i dont believe him, hidden cameras are 100% legit Main entrance - the main entrance always bothered me, a bookstore, cafe, pizza stand as soon as you get to the entrance. Maybe its just me but it seems a bit off to have all your stores where about 70% of the people enter As for Brian, i only met him once. Extremely busy and doesnt like to sit in one place for long unless his security is near him. I attempted to say hello to my security friend as one of the church services were happening, i walked down the stairs in the main Auditorium and was quickly approached by a new security guard to stopped me at the steps and questioned me. Nothing wrong with that but it should be noted that security is always on high alert for Brian, i was there when someone brought a bomb in their backpack. If you ever see police out the front with thier vehicle, its for one of two reasons usually, either to get protesters to go away or to covertly take a terrorist threat to the police station. They will never tell you this because they dont want to lose customers/believers but the terrorist threat is seriously high and without them 30 security guards that place would be a hole with a crater in it. The church service itself - what also bothers me is their services always go back to why its good to tithe. God died on the cross = tithe Adam and eve made sins = tithe Noah built an ark = tithe I belive they have run out of bible stories because you will notice the Pastors tend to just tell stories about how their week was and guess how the stories end = tithe Conference - Hillsong Conference is a massive event held by Hillsong once a year at Sydney Olympic Park, it is MASSIVE and another thing that is massive considering the people that attend is the price tag for a ticket. I havent seen an actual reason to hold a conference of this proportion due to there being a hillsong church everywhere, these people from all the different hillsong churches are paying to all meet up in "one big church". Hillsong Summer Camp - this is either going to be a great experience or ironically hell on earth. I have friends who found god at Summer Camp and i have friends who lost all faith at Summer Camp, ive seen adult volunteers punch teenagers in the face for talking back, ive seen people dragged on the ground out of these events, ive seen full scale riots at these events held by Islanders, this 1 week event is seperated by sleeping arrangements as the girls tents are a long way away from the boys tents, separated by a temporary fence, that on the last night had about 50+ Tongans scale the fence and push it over all to raid the girls tents. This was met with punch ons with security and volunteers. If your not a Christian and just want to start a riot this is the place for you I have become detached from Hillsong and have chosen to follow my beliefs from the comfort of my own home. Happy to try and answer any questions i have the answer to unless its regarding the security room. I promised i would never tell where it is
