When Lois Wilson was asked what she did in a moment of silence, she said, "I invite God to the meeting." It's not that I don't believe God's here, I do believe that but I get a special gift when I stop and honor that presence."

I cannot afford to flippantly look at the hurts and un met needs of my formative years as somehow being selfish. In there is deep subconscious make up of my defects. I owe myself an amends. These defects propounded upon me separate me from god and life. If I’m not cognisent of these weaknesses I’ll get to step 10 doing the same fears and depression over n over. I can’t use sponcees as an emotional band aid. I need to be free of my neediness and dependence on others. Then I can love myself. Subsequently them.

I don’t like that AA people in general downplay these root causes of our character defects. They’re complicated and hard to deal with but it’s worthwhile work.

Passed right over the crux of this step . If ......I DO NOT resolutely look for my own “ mistakes “ ? Where had I been Selfish dishonest self seeking and frightened “ then ALL the prayer in the world will not help . I must find and see my mistakes . I admitted my faults ( mistakes ) and placed them before me in black and white. This is about changing my behavior . If I don’t know it can’t see my mistakes . I am doomed to repeat them over and over . Geez. I DID see my mistakes . Knew damn well what they were and continued to make the same mistakes well into sobriety . It’s a good talk . Probably an oversight . AA I OU
