You need a 3 jaw gear puller mate. Slide straight off, save the fingers too lol. Would a stuffed cork in the clutch cone be the reason the blades dont turn when clutch is engaged? Even if the lever is engaged or not the clutch assembly turns, leading me to suspect the cork needs replacing. Wwould this in turn stop the drive to the rear roller? Went to use my scottie today and the clutch does nothing to the blades and the mower wont drive either. Edit... binge watching your videos they are very interesting.

It sounds like you may need to adjust the bolt on your clutch fork.. doing this will allow the clutch cone to make more (or less) contact with the clutch cork.. You’re correct in saying that the rear roller won’t work if your reel doesn’t spin..

Great stuff mate...breath of fresh air from some channels that seem to think overacting is going to keep attention. Bought a new Masport 500 a year ago after my 17" 45 just got too old and tired....flogged out shafts, clutch etc Not really convinced on the masport, and lucky I stored the old B&S under the house. With parts now seeming more accessible and affordable it is getting a makeover...so I'll be tapping into your videos. Just one question ...what video camera do you use... Regards

Thats greast to hear Greg, If you have any questions I'd be happy to try and help. As for the video camera, I just use my phone, Hence why my head gets cut off as I cannot see what i'm filming half the time. I've been looking at upgrading to the DJI Pocket 2 but I'm unsure.

Which new clutch option did you end up choosing to replace this?

I’ve decided on a Centrifugal clutch setup from mowpartsoz.com.au It worked out to be cheaper than buying all the parts needed to make this clutch work. I’ve never used/installed a centrifugal clutch and am looking forward to the process..

@@SBRenos Ah interesting. Keen to see your thoughts once installed. I need to replace the drive clutch on my resto and I’m unsure of which available new options to choose. One has a cottar pin the other uses grub screws. I’ve heard grubs are better but was hoping to glean some info from you on which you chose and why.

I personally think cotter pins are better.. I own a rover which has the two grub screws and they seem to loosen over time, I’m forever checking they are tight.. All my other mowers are cotter pins and none have ever become loose 🤷‍♂️
