Scorpion ASLs Collecting Heavy Apartment Recycling

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I finally managed to film a halfway comprehensive video of this insanely dense and heavy area of apartments a few months ago. These recycling 300s are collected triweekly Mon/Wed/Fri and even that doesn't seem to be enough as seen in the video. It only takes just upward of an hour to densely pack this 24ish Yd. body to the max (about 5-6 tons). Also seen in the video is another Crane Carrier and an Autocar on two other, slightly less-heavy routes that are collected weekly. Thanks to the friendly drivers. Expect to see some Scorpion hopper video from both me and SoCalGarbageTrucks in the coming days.

That's crazy that those containers are collected three times a week and are that overfilled! There were some awesome angles throughout the video. Great job to you and the drivers!!

Excellent video Tony! Congratulations on 7 years, time flies man. Very interesting video to watch, puts these units to the test for heavy recycle and man the video didn't disappoint. Irks the hell out of me these operators are revving the packer in drive gear, should be on the packer page running the functions manually in neutral, much faster to clear the hopper that way. For the payloads on these things, this unit as all Santa Monica's units and Claremont's are around 24 cubic yards. For a completely packed out unit, it'd say at least 4 - 4.5 tons. If you really want to pack these things out, 5 tons is really pushing it but these can do it. Also impressed with the consistent double dumping too, wish it was more common out here. Looking forward to the hopper footage!

thanks! According to the drivers the packer is inoperable while the truck is in neutral which is why they rev while in gear-so it's actually possible to run them while in neutral if you're not using the regular auto pack? I'll have to ask for a tonnage number but I know they can get 8 tons of greenwaste (consisting largely of leaves, dead plants, and palm fronds) pretty easy (or so I've been told). haha yeah, most drivers here like to double and one even experiments with triple dumping lol

Yes the auto-pack function is disabled in neutral for safety reasons but the operator can run the 4 separate functions, Up, Down, Backwards, and Forwards on the packer page in neutral. Wow 8 tons huh, very impressive for green waste!

Damn I can't believe the recycling goes three times a week! It looks relatively clean, too. How often for trash? 5-6 tons is great, these things can really pack if you know how to do it. I'd argue that newer Wayne's *may or *may not have the upper hand - I've seen one guy force pack nearly an entire route onto a regular size Curbtender.

Wow triweekly recycling! Everyone must really care about recycling there! Is there a reason why they have 300s instead of dumpsters? Seems like a dumpster would be more practical. And congratulations on 7 years on KZread! I've enjoyed watching many of your videos especially the LABOS broken carts videos

LABOS would definetly do good by buying these, and modify them to have amrep arms. Also happy seven years on YT! Cannot wait to see the hopper footage. What do you think of the scorpion?

maybe 5 tons lol. 7-8 sounds a bit heavy... heaviest recycle routes ive done are 6 tons on a 28yd RR, and pulled 8 tons packing a 30yd curotto out (light day on a 2 load route)..

sounds crazy, I know, but these things pack an insanely dense payload better than any other truck I've seen. I'll have to ask though what the actual number is

I’m a year late but I dont care. There’s a lot of recycle on this route, but not on the other route that pure trash 300s that Eli filmed?
