Highlights from this week's Imaginary Soundtracks stream on Twitch, where we composed a soundtrack for the Ex Machina trailer live, with no knowledge of the original score.
For the purpose of keeping things short during the stream I didn't spend time polishing details, we just wanted to get an idea "on paper" as a starting point, this was the main exercise.

Well done, it really fits the movie. I know that. Because by coincidence I watched the film this evening after a mixdown session in my studio!

Thank you so much! Really glad you think so : ) it was interesting going back to watch the original trailer afterwards and see what direction they had taken it in. Funny that you had just watched it! What did you think of the movie?

Ha ha, yeah it was just such an coincidence. I was down struggling with a mix. When going upstairs my wife and teenager was watching the film. So I went all smart "predicting" the movie... Btw, I really think it's a great way to stretch your creativity making soundtracks. I was asked by a local theatre director to make the music slash sounds for a play. Still really enjoy the outcome even though it wont make it to the radio as it lacks the 4onthefloor etc. ;-)

Ahh awesome. That sounds like a great project! It would be an interesting play if they did need 4x4 bangers 😅 always a fun exercise to try and write for something different I agree. I think I'll do another one of these next month so if you have any film suggestions please send them my way :D
