Hello from Australia. Just a few random comments on the items you saw. The 'scoop things' in the bag look to be Japanese and can be quite valuable as there are only a few craftsmen in Kyoto still making them by hand. The set of black coasters were also Japanese and can have a good resale value. I couldn't tell if they were plastic or lacquer as they only appeared briefly. Sometimes it is hard to tell. I smashed the lid of tea container I purchased at my local flea market in Tokyo thinking it was plastic only to find it was wood. If they are scuffed up I find using a little bit wax works well to revive them. Finally, in the past you have looked at ceramic items from Staffordshire. The 'shire' is actually pronounced as 'sheer' which is often the case when it is part of a place name.

Nice to see a western Canadian thrifter. Unfortunately, I never go into Value Village. I don't like how they try to fool people into thinking they're a charity when they won't even tell you what percentage they are supposedly giving or even what charity it is the are claiming to support.
