Oh my gosh I used to live there! All my old relatives live near there somehow and there is barely any car traffic when I visit. From what I remember there is some pretty big, nice bike lanes but maybe they've always been scooter lanes?

I work at a campground and there is a man staying there that insists he needs his scooter to make his way around. The other day I walked outside our office and this man was popping a damn wheelie. I stopped him and said he couldn’t do that because it was a liability issue. He explained to me that he had someone install extra wheels on the back because he kept flipping. How you are immobile but able to pop wheelies with ease and live with the consequences of flipping on your back are beyond me.

I have a story of when i was working at a grocery store and i was tasked with helping an elderly woman who was using one of the grocery store scooters. My guess was that she was around 90 years old and she was obviously struggling with her ripe age. She could barely walk on her own and her speech was heavily impared. I helped her get and pay for her groceries and i offered to help her with getting to her car and she made a weird murmur sound which i took as a yes and began following her out of the store. In the front of the store we had wine cases stacked 3 boxes high as a display for the discounted wine. But as we leave she does a wide turn around one of the stacks and the back of the scooter clipped one of the boxes. She seemed to not notice because she just kept driving, tipping over all of the cases of wine and crashing them onto the floor. It was a huge mess because pretty much every bottle broke (id guess around 50 bottles). She then looked behind her and saw the mess that she had made and immediately started saying "i will pay i will pay" over and over again. At that point everyone in the store rushed up to the front to see what had happened. It was so sad. Prolly the biggest face palm moment for everyone in the store.

Worried about A.I. Taking over? Well the scooter people are the real threat that we need to take care of.
