About time someone explained, Relais, Rectifier, Solenoid, Regulator are they all the same thing? 1 Question on here is my Scooter does not have this Solenoid but a Yellow Box with 4 Pins Starter Relais/ Solenoid or not.

does this apply to older honda mopeds,,my honda nu50,urban express wont start with the button push only the kickstart...can u help?

What if the starter button is defective?.. got the same problem on my scooter. It was sitting over the winter and when i tryed to crank it it does nothing. All lights and everything on the dashboard works but i can't hear the relais click, neither the fuel pump. I will now check the starter button, then the wireing to the relais and then the relais itself.

Hello I have a Peugeot Moped and I don't have that sort of starter solenoid. My solenoid is cube-shaped and has four metal "legs". How do I test such a solenoid?

do I have to have key in & key switch on ? New scooter try a figure out why my scooter won't start it was running fine one day then when I try to start it , trys to start then I try again and it make one click and like a very low kinda buzzin noise now engine won't catch and makeing noise still please help ?

Hi I have Piaggio Zip 100 and It won't start with Push button as well as in Kick Start. I check the Red Fuse near the Battery and it seems busted, my question is if i replace that Red fuse will my scooter start? Also, why is that I dont have power on Break lights and even in Kick start there is no sound at all? Thank you in advance for the answer.

I have a Tao Tao 2020 50cc. And have put new battery in, but electric start does nothing. The kick start seems to be ground out cause it won't kick start and sound horrible when you try to kick start it. I'm about to just take it to scrap yard. Plus the dash lights were super dim, which makes no sense seeing as battery is brand new. But hooked up charger for Less then 2 min now my lights are super bright like they should be. I'm just tired of working on it.

Hey I have 2004 honda scooter when I turn key on makes clicking and starts but now won't start less I cover intake to exsust runs but clicking still on and if not coving exsust dies out ..any ideas what it could be

Hi there, i tried doing this and there is a spark but still nothing happens. do you know what else it could be? put in a new spark plug, new battery, tried adjusting the valves, finally this but like i said it sparks just nothing happens

so the relay isn't working when connecting the two terminals starts it? and when yours was broken did the starter moter still work but not start the bike or was it just completely dead? thanks

Russell Morrison The starter motor will still work if you bypass the relay if the starter motor is fine.

Hi, Just checking, i have a chinese 4stroke 50cc scooter, when i self start, i get tick tick noise out from starter relay, what u think, is fault in relay, scooter starts normal using kick start, only issue is using electric starter..

+xTOA Xpert671 first try testing ur relay, then come to conclusion if that is faulty, switch ur power switch and join relay circuits using sny metal , then if it starts its ur relay faulty.

my taotao 50cc keeps trying to start but won't. I need a nail to put on the relay for it to start but when I do the variator moves then it start then stops, starts then stops. idk if that makes any sense

I'm a little lost here. my button won't do anything to start my scooter but if I use a screw driver on the thing you have in your video ( solenoid?) it will turn over but I haven't gotten the scooter to start yet... but since I can start it with that one thing using a screw driver, that means it's bad?? I thought you could always get a vehicle to turn over by doing that..

yeah, same here. Im not sure but I think shorting the terminals on the solenoid/relay just means it has power and good ground but anything before that could be bad; including solenoid, main switch, fuse, brake switch, start switch. did you figure out the problem?

Any selonoid can be jumped like this, .. As long as power is supplied. Totally does not mean its bad or good. Lol. All your doing is skipping the function of the switch.

My issue turned out the previous owner laid it over which i knew he did a few times and still rode it then the last time was dropped and messed the motor up internally.

My 150cc scooter starts with both starter solenoid and button? How is that? Isn't it the same exact thing as a 50?

ivan caminero This person doesn't seem to know what he is talking about. The switch basicly shorts that positive and negative/ground (the wire that goes to the starter. So your bike is working fine

I got a df fang 200 it won’t start battery new bike is brand new battery is charged as well

im having problems with my scooter it wont start or turn over the battery is fully charged but when i turn it on the lights flicker and when i hit the breaks everything goes off like im draining the battery help,

+Derek Hill Is the scooter cranking over or just making a clicking noise?

So my scooter wouldn’t start from the switch only kick start so I bought a battery then it still wouldn’t start from the switch with the new battery and now I think it’s the starter relay because it’s a new battery and it’s draining already and it’s brand new

The bike will still start (or attempt to start) when you short that relay...even if it's good.

Hi PATRICK, I have 1981 Honda passport and when I short, it starts and when I tap on solenoid, it started and works then don,t work. Kick start works perfect,y. Do I need a new solenoid? Thank you

doesn't matter what post they go back on lol

my scooter wont start either.batter is good. just clicks when i push the button. i put a screwdriver in between the solenoi leads and nothing happened. i ran a couple wires to the starter after i removed it and it spun so im at a standstill for now.

if bypass didn't work than than sth may be wrong with the fuse, have you check fuse on battery?

+David T yes it does all I hear is the starter relay sparking. and clicking last owners had 2 wires twisted. around it I guess to start it scooter was running all of a sudden it don't start

I'm having trouble starting 150cc velocity scooter

even if the starter relay is good if you jump the posts it will still attempt to start. The relay is just a signal switch when 12volts are applied to those small 2 wires that you can barely see in the video they energize a coil inside the relay that bridges the gap between the two posts and jumps it to make it start. A better test is to remove the relay and connect the tiny wire that most likely has the red stripe to positive on your battery and the one that has the green stripe to negative on your battery and listen to see if you can hear a click.....no click no good...….

Hi can anyone help ? I bypassed the starter relay but joining both posts with a screwdriver , I left it on a bit too long while I turned the key then I heard a tap and the scooter has no power now , no headlights , nothing ! I know I’ve probably blown a fuse or something , the battery is reading 12.80 so the battery is still fine ! What’s blown ?

Mark Zanetti it’s a cheap Chinese scooter and only has one fuse that I know of on the positive terminal and that is in tact

If it did crank, then it could be the carburetor is not getting gas or the jet is getting stuck. Reply ·

That means the solenoid is no good, you can just replace the solenoid.
