I don't watch Tik Tok, but YT has it's own bunch of crazies. Glad there are people like you that actually provide good advice.

Agreed, these are much more reasonable than so many of the other videos that end up in our feed
If you want to branch out and increase your reach, who am I to judge you, but please do not decrease your attention to youtube; we really need you here
I don't use TicTok and likely never will. But from what I've heard about it, your style of thoughtful and rational analysis is sorely needed there, so maybe doing both is a good idea.

Do both YT and TikTok. So you can reach more people!
As someone with Crohns disease, I completely agree with you on fiber. Initially I had to go on a low fiber diet to get the inflammation down, once I did that, I could slowly introduce higher fiber foods.

There are rarely any 'nutrition rules' that apply to all people all the time. You are the expert of your body, you have to apply the relevant rules and leave the other ones behind!
Stay on KZread please I'm not on Tik Tok and I need your sensible advice
Make all the Tik Tok content you want. But I’ll never see it. Love your channel and I recommend it to all my friends.
Thanks Gill, I really appreciate your no nonsense presentation. I’ve learned a lot about health from your videos, but probably even more importantly, your videos have helped improve my critical thinking about the whole domain. Thanks for the great content.

I noticed that too. Maybe Gil is onto something when he talks about energy because scientists are kinda more low energy people ahahahaha
I don't plan to watch TikTok, but if you upload short videos in both KZread and Tiktok, definitively I would watch them in KZread.
I hope you stay on KZread. I'm dealing with being 74 years old and have been watching a lot of health-related videos. I like your stuff, and I have never watched TikTok videos. Of course, I'm interested in videos tailored for senior citizens. Lots of younger folks on TikTok
Please stay here, my wife and I don't use TikTok.
It's good advice to reduce intake of bad Tik Tok minutes and increase intake of good KZread minutes while also getting plenty of sleep 😂.

I heard tiktok causes depression.
You should be on both platforms since each one has different profiles of people. Your content is amazing we need you everywhere ❤
KZread is for people with longer attention spans. You could edit the longer videos into bite sized bits for X...
Thank you SO much for the captions! ❤ Your hard of hearing fans appreciate the work.
I will die before I go to tiktok.
Adding TT would expand your audience. There is just as much “crazies” on TT as UT. Same goes for useful content.
As for TikTok, the dosage makes the poison. At first, you get lulled into content which seems reasonable. Over time…if one is not very very careful…the algorithms may include results that move you closer to a rabbit hole. Many times, you are interacting with a bot. The average user wouldn’t know how to administer the Turing test. Remember: If you’re not being charged a fee to use a website or App, it’s because you and your data are the product that is being sold.
Post same videos that you would on KZread to TikTok please. While I personally don’t watch tiktok, your type of content deserves more recognition and there are people who need it. Much love!
I think it would be great to see you on TikTok! Maybe something like highlights from your long form videos? I really, really love your long form videos, so I just hope it won't take away from that.
Hi Doctor, Pls continue using KZread where you can provide adequate information with data, facts and research based evidence easily. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge to the world. 🙏🙏
Some may recall the 'tide pod' challenge. I maintained from that day on, tiktok is a social media cesspool where intelligence goes to die.
Love your channel man. You’re my go to guy for nutrition insights based on unbiased research. Fun to see you do a more casual format like this too.
Yay, a new shirt! I'm writing this on the calendar. Appreciate everything you do for “the cause” (science- and evidence-based nutrition).
Please stay on KZread. We need people who are objective, logical and knowledgeable like you. And you’re funny too ❤
Thank you for doing these videos.
I like these react vids. Yours is unusually wholesome.
Excellent video! Thanks! 👍
4:52 had to 😅😂
I'd expect that the issue isn't the platform (e.g. TikTok or KZread) or what the top items are on that platform, it's how the platform responds as you click on items with questionable content. If it is able to identify that you were attracted to that content and able to identify (via what other people like) similar content, then it can send you down a self-reinforcing rabbit hole.
I hope you concentrate on KZread. KZread shorts are the same thing TikTok is. Posting in both places would seem to be helpful. You are certainly helping thousands of strangers in the world. I think it’s great to add a few more thousand. If you do that, and it doesn’t take away from your work.👏👏👏👏👏
You’re making such good content, thanks, Gil, obrigada!
As long as you’re still on KZread! Love your content Dr. Gil!
Thx doc u should do both cause u will reach more people and some might steal your ideas and spread more real science
Great info, thanks...
There’s SO much quackery on TikTok 😂 I think you got lucky.

So everything written in caps lock 🤔
It's not so much the stuff you search for, but the stuff that ends up in your feed after. For someone that knows the difference between good information and bad information, this is not an issue. Another youtuber, Ryan McBeth, also has some input on the issues with TikTok, which go beyond the general videos on the platform.
I vote KZread! Thanks again, Dr. Gil. This was very entertaining. ❤ Your videos are not only informative, but give me hope.
I don't use Tik Tok and don't plan to. And yes, you lucked out on that dive. ☺️
Hey Dr. Gil. I'm very happy I came across your YT channel because unlike most other social media doctors or "health experts" you provide the latest SCIENTIFIC evidence available to make your illustrate the subject matter. Some of the "experts" you fact checked, I follow on YT and kind of took their advice as being gospel. However, you point out that some of these "experts" make claims about X, Y and Z without providing references. I think why people gravitate towards those videos is because they speak so confidently about exactly what kind of diet we should be on and what kind of fasting routine. I guess people just like being told what to do. Having said that I think it would be cool if you told us about your PERSONAL dietary choices. I know you're not a fan of anecdotal "evidence" but I think your subscribers trust your opinion and could potentially gain some good dietary habits. Just my opinion, awesome channel and keep up the good work!
Tik Tok is not for me. Stay with KZread.
I’ll add to the group. Please don’t leave YT. Be on both to spread scientific knowledge. BTW, I’m thinking of playing clips of your videos to my college students. Thanks!
More of this series!
Excellent video 👏. In my experience the main problem isn't educating people regarding a healthy diet, it's actually getting them to do it. Knowing and doing are very different things, and doing is incredibly challenging for many people.
It depends what your mission is in life. Do you want to reach and help as many people as possible with sound advice? Or do you want to stay sedentary on one platform and grow your YT channel organically (albeit somewhat slower) on it's own? You can accomplish the former by being on T.T. and at the same time grow Y.T. quicker by redirecting viewers back to Y.T.
Stay with youtube. Also please cover the benefits of fermented food. Thanks for the great channel!
KZread. I don’t and won’t be going on ticktock. Maybe you could do both?
Liked even before watching. Gil is super based
Looking good with that shirt
The most viral ones are the most inaccurate
Hi. Dr. As usual, very measured, balanced, checking facts with no prejudice. Very well done, sir, a good lesson. Thank you so much. ❤ anyway I am not going on Tik Tok because I like longer explanations.
I think your style fits better on KZread because you’re more in-depth in your approach while TickTock is mostly short bite size clips.
You are too good for Tik Tok!
Don't leave KZread, but do post on TikTok as well. You deserve a wider audience.
I'm not on Tik Tok and, though doubtful, it may be banned in the U.S. soon. I doubt it, but ...
I got to say, watching tik tok on KZread is something else lol
Stay with KZread! Longer videos that explain or look into issues not quick sound bites.
Definitely stay on KZread because not every country allows TikTok 😊🙏🏼
I never watch ticktock.
Yes even doctors need to follow what there young patients are into. Influencers are sometimes dangerous. Factchecks!
Made me do the math for 32kg, im about 3 lbs away from that at 98 days 😳. As far as Tik Tok, many people these days prefer the short format videos, unfortunately that also means that many miss out on good information or can hear more information in a shorter period of time that may be completely contradictory of something you watched 5 minutes ago. I prefer to watch an in depth video, but there are a lot of people that won't. I will say though, I believe that Tik Tok is definitely one of the things destroying people's attention spans
It will be hard to pack much science into TikTok format.
Most of the nutrition nuts on social media are talking about PROTEIN and meat.
Thirst traps, meet Gil. Gil....meet the thirst traps
I was never lead astray taking health and nutrition advice from hot girls on TikTok. 😅
Stay focused on KZread
Someone has to compile a selection of controversial tik-toks for you, it will be much more interesting and informative:)
Tik Tok needs you
No TicToc -- unless you have important and *different* content than what's already there.
I think you should play the lottery now before your luck runs out.
Don't give up KZread, but it would be great to see TikTok and KZread Shorts from you, there's lots of topics that don't need 10+ minutes that would be great.
I prefer longer form content so I’m not a big fan of tiktok but i think it’s worth having a go at it - as long as you keep making KZread content! 😅
It's like my son says when I refer to social media "epiphanies:" "Mom, some people need the info."
No need to choose, man. Both platforms are extremely popular. Spread your no-nonsense, evidence based approach far and wide.
US News and World Report routinely ranks the Mediterranean Diet as the best so no real surprise there.
wow. tik tok shows me the craziest most annoying diet trends because it knows ill lose myself and engage on some level, even though I always say "not interested"
Screw TicTok and their stupid video format. At least you showed it without the blurred side panels. Hate thier video format.
React to more clips in general, but stay on youtube as you do it!
Thanks for the video! Always appreciate your content! Can you do a video about two youtubers "Flavcity", and "FoodScienceBabe?" I'm curious to hear your input on both because they are in complete opposition to each other! Thanks Dr. Gil!!
I've found from experimentation that I need to eat cooked vegetables. If I don't, I get diarrhea. Even salad.
Hey Gil, I'd say do both. Make your regular, more in-depth videos here and if you want, you can maybe chop up some of your content to use on TikTok, or just make short and snappy videos on the same topics for TikTok. I haven't used TikTok much, but it's a vibe you have to learn, I think, if you want to reach people on there. Perhaps you can do more informal videos there, eg response videos to content on there, rather than deep dives on topics. Good luck!
Your TikTok algorithm is going to be better than other user’s algorithms

Thank you for stating that ppl with inflammatory bowel conditions like Crohns’ and Ulcerative Colitis should avoid fiber.
@NutritionMadeSimple

hi, please bear in mind that's not quite what the video states. Elimination diets are usually a temporary approach and are personalized and continuously tweaked to avoid trigger foods while still designing a dietary pattern that is sustainable and supports both short term and long term health. This will rarely boil down to simply "avoiding fiber". Also consider that the intolerances in these GI conditions are often conditional and can in some cases be reversed, see our content on IBS and other gut conditions. Ideally work with a qualified GI health professional and thank you for your interest.
I wonder if your previous searches on other apps/engines has filtered the type of videos that popped up for you. I often have to ask clients where they get their creative information from because based on my searches they don't pop for me either.
"Your body doesn't make anything bad". She wouldn't be saying that if she ate at Taco Bell.
KZread preferred!
please continue with KZread as for many of us its more accessible. on the other hand, you have important messaging and if you feel you can potentially reach a wider audience, why not tailor some of your work for tik tok? does not need to be one or the other. tik tok has a younger audience who need education as well. thank you for your excellent analyses.
The algorithm do a good jobs feeding the contents the user want to watch, it enforces confirmation bias.
I appreciate your more in depth 30-15 min videos, please don't switch to tik tok
The thing with algorithmic content though is that it typically starts more rational and trustworthy. As you engage in scrolling, the intensity of the content has to eventually increase in order to continue eliciting engagement. Intensity is often introduced in the form of shock, controversy, sexual content, etc. So you’d have to engage for a while to see the real zingers out there.
The more people you reach, the better, imho. I'll stick with you on KZread, personally
