Yes, Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche often teaches his students about "obstacles becoming allies", just as you say in this video about it being one of Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava's central teachings. I was actually able to quit smoking tobacco due to a terrible tooth ache. It really works!
