My mind was running scenarios over and over throughout the whole film trying to understand her obsession, beyond mere curiosity. The ending was extremely well conceived and executed. I loved how so much exposition took place in this movie WITHOUT WORDS!!! At first I was unimpressed with the young woman's performance, but then the ending put everything into perspective and suddenly I realized that she was actually doing a supremely good acting job. The young man didn't have as meaty of a part, but his performance was equally as impressive. A very well done piece of art.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but I think the teleporter dude saved the factory workers in the fire news story that the woman was barely listening to on TV earlier and he was looking up their stories on the net later. It's said the factory workers had no idea how they all escaped the fire :-) Nice side story detail assuming its true. (Edit: also the light bulbs burn out when telleporter dude teleports nearby).

Unfortunately that what is considered "cool" now, especially with short films. You either have to start in the middle so that you don't show ANY plot setup, character development, etc. or you start at the beginning and end during the second act so you don't have to bother writing an ending. Then you just say that there is no ending because they wanted each viewer to choose how they wanted it to end. It's the epitome of lazy writing when you ask the view to do your job. If you are incapable of writing the 3 acts of any movie, conventional or short(beginning, middle, end), either write another story or just admit you are a shitty writing incapable of doing the job and give up. I have watched short movies here on YT for many years on channels like Dust and Alter. 99 out of 100 are garbage because they intentionally omit the first or third act. But I watch them because when that 1 out of 100 comes along it's a fantastic breath of fresh air. BTW, the best short on Dust is called "The Leap". It was actually posted a couple years before it was on Dust but it got more exposure on Dust so that is great for the people that made it. Great story and great job of picking the actor and actress.

Most shorts I watch while very good leave me short on understanding. This one however was excellent. Rarely is a full tale so well played that it is all played to completion. It is so very hard to cram a story into a short, and not leave readers/watchers wondering. I grew up on sci/fi shorts and of course stories and books. This was satisfaction I hardly get in short stories today. Some times it`s hard to try not to predict an outcome and just let it play for the sake of the tale. Young ones sitting enraptured in a tale, savoring the story as it evolves. Sure glad it wasn`t a cliff hanger. Bravo. Well done.

This is one of the best shorts I have seen on youtube. Audio was extremely well done. No dialog, which I like, so the film & acting had to show the story. All the camera angles were well done. Dots are all connected, even with the guy on the train who doesn't smile back - she doesn't belong in this world...however she finds another in the same situation. Very well paced, nothing extraneous, simple...had everything it needed to show the story, no more no less. Impact without hyperbole. Romantic, creative, artistic. Good emotional triggers, very good emotional take away...with a future to ponder. This is a film that will be remembered.

Love how the doll is also a stand in for the life of the lead as well. As in even when she "mends the broken doll", it just breaks even further. Until she finds something that "mends" her loneliness as well when she finds someone else like herself; or to express it better, when she lets go of her fear of being herself. :/ Now I wish mainstream media would take a page out of this, and make entertainment like this again. I kinda miss having stories with deeper meanings that are universal. :/

Now that was a story so much more believable and unique than any comic to movie superhero, mass-produced film I have ever seen. I can honestly hope that both the writer, David Thorpe and the director, Mark Smythe go on to do great things. Nothing is more believable than blending truth with fantasy (much in the same way people mix truth with lies), and that is why this is so much more captivating. No ridiculous costumes, no hyped up unrealistic two-dimensional story lines and personalities, and much more being said than was necessary to put into dialogue. Of course, the mystery and intrigue of this short lies in the fact that so little is known either in the beginning or the end, with the characters themselves ending in a beginning. And gratefully, this short didn't end in a cliffhanger; a cheap and too often used technique to end a story. Perhaps the first time that was done somewhere in time long ago, it was unique and effective. Now, it's just tired, and annoying. So, I am grateful for the twist at the end, just enough of a finish to call it an end without it actually being one.

Just when you think the age of Madison Avenue dictating feminine appearance is finally over, they sneak up from behind you and do it again. And to think, that one Kardashian; who is famous for no other reason than being rich, is the only woman that so many women are trying to look like. She comes to realize that in the aftermath of trauma or heartache, where she's terribly broken, she can pull herself back together. That when she falls down, she can get back up again. She's intrigued by her neighbor's ability to do all of this, and unwittingly he helps her discover her own power to do so as well. It's a wonderful short film of coping, surviving and discovery!

Not only because I actually believe there are people that have powers out there but this was super cool. That was absolutely splendid! Kelly was fearless, which is why she pursued him. She knew who he was. Brings to mind the "Hancock" movie! Great acting. Never seen a worried look like hers before. She did that really well. Those lil sound blips are great. I love those! Kelly was adventurous and fearless because she has the power. I loved this! This was no ordinary curiosity about a man, that's for damn sure!

👏👏👏 Brilliant 👏👏👏 I thought "Why doesn't she 'Take the leap of faith' and just go up to him/knock his door and say, look, I'm not a bad person, I saw what you did, and, if you let me, I would like to know more".. Then, If he did, he did, if he refused, ok, maybe, build up a friendship over time... But, on her reveal.. Ahhh I see lol... That 'Jump scare' where she flicks back tot he live record mode, very unexpected... VERY nice work from all of you involved, and especially very well played out by Leah Egan and Aron Hegarty... 👏👏👏 I look forward to more from you two.. Keep safe, stay well, and keep up the great work !!! 👍😎🇬🇧
