Science facts || How do mosquitoes find their hosts' blood sources?

Carbon Dioxide Detection:
Mosquitoes are highly sensitive to the carbon dioxide (CO2) exhaled by animals, including humans. They can detect even small concentrations of CO2 from a considerable distance. When they sense an increase in CO2 levels, they know a potential host is nearby.
Body Heat Sensing:
Mosquitoes can also detect the warmth emitted by warm-blooded animals. They have specialized receptors that can detect infrared radiation, allowing them to hone in on sources of body heat. The difference in temperature between the surrounding environment and a warm-blooded host helps guide them towards potential feeding sites.
Chemical Signals:
Mosquitoes are attracted to certain chemicals emitted by the skin, such as lactic acid, uric acid, and ammonia. These chemicals, along with other volatile compounds produced by the human body, act as attractants for mosquitoes. They use their sensitive antennae to detect these chemical cues and follow them to find a host.
Visual and Optic Cues:
While not as significant as their other senses, mosquitoes are also capable of detecting visual cues such as movement and contrasting colors. In some cases, they may rely on visual cues to locate potential hosts, especially in close proximity.
Humidity and Moisture Sensing:
Mosquitoes are attracted to areas with high humidity and moisture, as these conditions are often associated with potential breeding sites and sources of water, which are essential for their survival. They may follow moisture gradients to find areas where hosts are likely to be present.
Sound Detection:
Some research suggests that mosquitoes can detect the sound of their hosts, such as the sound of human breathing or the beating of the heart. While the exact mechanisms are not fully understood, it's believed that they may use sound cues in combination with other sensory inputs to locate their hosts.
