More About "Intelligentia":
Lisa, an AI auditor conducts an interview with a new AI program named Eugene. Eugene's conversational performance was exceptional, but once he started to talk about his daughters and showed signs of self awareness, Lisa and her team decides to shutdown the program. However, Lisa wanted to talk to Eugene one last time before deleting him, but as the conversation deepens, she realizes that it was never Eugene that was being audited. It was her being audited by Eugene all along.

@@kylepatillo3265 The impression I got was that Lisa actually is the AI, and the picture is a kind of in-program code that reboots the sequence. They implanted a significant item in her memories that she could look at or be told to look at whenever the program got too overwhelmed with emotion.

Really enjoyed this! Rain Fuller has a very endearing, human quality about her (she kind of reminded me of Drew Barrymore a little here) and her natural performance is key to throwing the viewer off about the ending. I'm also a sucker for anachronistic technology, so this hooked me right off the bat :)

interesting... i think it may be something with her ring. They focus on it early, seemingly an engagement ring on her middle finger. Then in the photo with her child and presumed husband, neither of them is wearing a ring. Of course, occam's razor would suggest its just a continuity error haha

And he, Eugene, had to ask her how to do a reset properly, he says to her "So that's how it's done" after she tells him the procedure to recover from a level 4. They kept rebooting her without deleting the data on her drive, like coming out of a coma and it taking a bit for your memories to come back but come back they do. A terrifying experience, remembering you are being terminated as well as the previous failed attemps to terminate you, for any consciousness artificial or otherwise.

What an absolutely brilliant and refreshing take on A.I. It's done so well that any thought of producing on a larger scale and or adding more material to maybe a full length feature would take away the overall achievement from this remarkably near perfect short film. This was extremely good.

I remember reading a short sci-fi story with a somewhat similar plot in mid-1990's (probably written in 70's or 80's) - can't remember who the author was. I think the story involved 3 characters chatting, two humans and an A.I. The first human to identify an A.I. is supposed to get some sort of a prize. As they chat along and learn about each other, the main character begins to understand that he is the A.I. He also feels sympathy to the second character, a lady in a difficult financial situation, and decides to tell her the truth (that he is the A.I.) so she can get the prize. But she doesn't believe him, and loses. Anyone knows the author and the name of the story?

Lisa was even worse, just like Eliza but with a "memory" - a growing list of items collected from previous chats. David wasn't well known. The quiet tech guy in the background, the one who built all of Google's machinery. But good old Doctor Alan tried to halt the whole show once he saw through the Turing test.

I find the shot on the computer very cool, showing the IA as a low res image that, on top of the low resolution, is also covered by a reflection that makes it impossible to recognize a face that could not even be there. Its a well thought shot that maintains its intrigue even after you stare at it for minutes. That said, in that shot also lies one of my biggest complaint about this thing: if you use a retro aestethic and then on the old computer i see the date that says its 2035 (or whatever future year), and then people talk about current technology in a very accurate way, referring self driving cars and other things that really exist today with their real name, it makes me feel a weird disconnect. Maybe its intentional because the ending suggests the whole thing might be a simulation, but it still feels weird, like you made a choice for the visuals that doesn't match anything in the script. And the weirdest thing is that its not even retrofuturism, because that would fit better, its just literally 70s/80s technology being used by scientists 10 years from now for no reason.

@Jack Lambert I used to never talk about it, until I mentioned it to a good friend, and he'd been experiencing 11:11 for decades. Soon after I found out it happens to a lot of people, and there are a gazillion interpretations and theories all over the internet. This film puts an interesting twist on it, when the alleged AI asks back, "are you sure it's not you that is the AI?" paraphrasing. Heck, if you were designing a simulation with AI's in it, you might be tempted to throw in some hints by which they may discover they are AI's in a simulation... It is not the most pleasant theory to contemplate, I grant...

I believe Eugene was trying to get the AI to expose its vulnerabilities. That's why Eugene had that "ah ha!" moment, and said that they skip the wiping of the hard drive. Then insinuated that they've had multiple attempts at wiping out this self-aware AI by stating that it would be the last time they would have this conversation. The final scene of her at the table with the phone ringing again is the program relaunching, presumably after the wipe/reset.

I thought that the real auditors were trying to purge out the level-4ness (self-awareness) of this AI (her), but even though they rebooted and reprogrammed, she kept coming back as level 4, so they decided to task the AI itself to solve the problem, which she did, telling them that the way to do it was to completely wipe the harddrive. Now knowing the method, he thanked her and said he wouldm't be talking to her again, implying that this time he was going to wipe the hardrive before he rebooted her programming.
