Hi Everyone! Landon here - the Writer/Director of “DRIFT.” So pumped we are able to share our film here on DUST! If you want to check out the “Behind the Scenes” on how we made this film, I have a Two-Part BTS out on my channel! I want to thank the cast and crew for going above and beyond on this. @@NarrativeSolace this is the type of short which makes me avoid Dust; they take the advertising money and do not spread it/ give any to writers (et al) to not write cliff hangers or explain how water can teleport people. Elements in this film are good. (don't want me 2 B all negative) A narriative of "can travel with H2O" is not ample. He could end up on a train track, which would make the short shorter. LOL It is sci-fi, not conceptual-fi. I take this back. There is a semi-ending enuf

Really liked how the protagonist's powers worked, and how they were utilized by the script to solve problems.

Brilliant short film. I at first was frustrated how he didn't check the backpack for the remaining water, but silly me. The hero knows he couldn't escape the desert with what is left and needed a different method. I look forward to the Netfilx series 🥰⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

More, MORE, MMMOOOOOOORRRRRRRREE!!!! Fascinating story line and I just want, wait for it, MORE!
Really enjoyed this. The script and action sequences are so tight. The audience is respected enough not to be spoon fed the plot. Although it's open ended you know he will go on to realise his full potential and rescue his family making this a satisfying ending. Congrats on an excellent sci fi short.

Not very original at all. I've been into Sci-Fi over 60 years. This was like a 15 minute snap shot of the middle of some movie.
Great premise. Great story built upon it

I must admit, Dust has never disappointed me, for which I am grateful. You always present to our attention only high quality content. For example, one cannot but rejoice here at the competent presentation of the story, the truthful acting and special effects. Thanks to you, there is always something to watch on KZread, and among other channels on similar topics, in my opinion, you have no equal. Thanks again 🤗
It felt like part of the Dune universe.

This has a lot of really cool elements that could be expanded into a feature length film. I'm envisioning the child being on the moon or even another planet entirely. There could be other abilities featured. Though I am a bit puzzled by the antagonist wanting a car if they have their own method of travel with whatever that red mist was. I guess the main antagonist lacks the ability to interface with travel powers. It's also conveyed that there was ties of family or friendship between the primary protagonist and his initial visitor/desert travel companion - perhaps after he succeeds in saving his son, he goes back to save him from the desert?
Beautifully done, but of course, there is so much more potential backstory here, this was a sort of glimpse into what that might be. With more support and funding this is definitely something that could be much further developed.

@@NarrativeSolace You're welcome! Yeah, limited powers really give him and the others room for creativity in how they use theirs! I mean, I had a feeling he'd use his old friend in some way, but not like THAT! Wow! The sheriff guy, I wondered why his hand shook as it did...what exactly his limitation was. It was so creepy because he's all calm, but his left hand is just quivering. So interesting!
@NarrativeSolace

@@jazzew thank you!! That’s awesome. Joshua has the ability of telekinesis but uses his arms to guide the ability. The weight of moving things with his mind is super taxing on his body so he has to have a mechanical device (mech arm) to help him handle the gravity of moving objects. The bigger the object or more people caught in his gravitational force the more weight it puts on him. Without the mech arm his bones shatter from the gravity. Would love to make a series or a feature length film and explore all their abilities and backgrounds!
I just wonder how much drifting he could do if he go much more brutal, use a bigger blade and use his enemies' blood to drift.
Really liked the acting and effects. Lots of potential here. But the lack of backstory made it a very frustrating watch.
Well done

Higher planes drifter😊
So many of these Dust projects seem to be CGI masterpieces, but of stories I see almost nothing. Strange hints at something without explanation. Drift has a hero who loves his, family? He has some unspecified ability to travel, somehow, and we were told that somehow water is his fuel? Who are the enemy? Why are they the enemy? What is this water-teleport ability? Why is he running? A little world-building, a basic story arc, and it could be something worth watching.

This is true but remember these are very short films, there is no time for full character development or story arc. Think of them as vignettes and let your imagination run free on the backstory.
I only have one problem with these and that is they are t short. You just start getting in to them and bang they are over
very good finale, although i half expected him to drink blood to transport 😅
👍👍👍👍👍 this one 🪨’s this one I’d like to see in a full length movie.

Unbelievably based by the current standards. A masculine white straight cis male protagonist? Taking charge in relationships? Besides his powers, is also willing to violently use weapons to protect himself and his family? A refreshing take.
That made absolutely no sense to me
This is like the movie “jumper”
NEVER PUT YOUR FINGER ON THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOU ARE ON TARGET AND HAVE MADE A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO FIRE! They definitely needed a consultant on this one.
Barbarella Update Synopsis A remake that both parodies and pays homage to the original movie. Barbarella, an astronaut from the 41st century, sets out to find and stop the evil scientist Durand Durand, whose Positronic Ray threatens to bring evil back into the galaxy.
This is just Jumper with extra steps.
