beautiful, nice arrangement and instrumentation

The oboe sound is too heavy and not in tune. Very mediocre. American oboe playing these days is an embarrassment.

Because nothing is more in tune than bright, nasty, and super sharp European oboe.

Michael Banks at least the Europeans know how to sing through the oboe, which this does not.

This is the equivalent of calling out Tabuteau, Goossens, and up to a degree maybe even Holliger, for having "bad tone". The audio "back in the day" was horribly distorted, and obviously, musicians back then couldn't record as well as musicians today can. While obviously isn't as bad in this video, this video was recorded with subpar recording equipment. In other words, equipment matters. In fact, a lot. I notice that there is a huge difference even between my phone's audio recorder and a $100 portable audio recorder, as far as tone, and even pitch, go.
