Wow Liszt did a great job putting this one to piano. And Schubert is a great as always!

One of best interpretations I have heard. Bravo Boris!

Not only does Boris play notes, he understands the piece. The only performance I have heard so far, that contains all the passion, all the yearning, the longing for answers. The only performance that can move one to tears, while at the same time bringing solace to the troubled. If music does not make you cry because of it's sadness, or laugh because it is so joyous, what is it other than scales and exercises! Rubinstein admired the accuracy of young players but asked "When will they play music?"

John, I am thrilled that you feel this way too. In my opinion, Boris Bloch is unequalled in his performances of the Schubert-Liszt lieder. He is a giant of a musician, a true pianist's pianist. What deal would I not make with the devil to be able to play like this.

95superbad, If you had even a smattering of knowledge of music you would know that the Vamos version was not by Franz Liszt, Vamos had the music in front of him but he most definitely was not reading what was written, He was improvising (rather badly) or more probably playing his own shabby arrangement from memory. What's more, no self-respecting pianist would perform on a piano that was so out-of-tune!

Borretski Its a pity that whoever that moron, 9superbad may be, that he is likely no longer on KZread. I have a hunch it is the so-called pianist Peter Vamos himself, who is nothing more than a hack and a rank, thoroughly unmusical, and completely incompetent amateur. If not him, his defender is most certainly a friend or relative. There can be no other explanation for such ignorance. Whatever sordid version of Ave Maria that Vamos plays -- I could not even bear listening to it for more than a minute - it is most likely his own tacky, ill-conceived transcription. It is perfectly obvious that Vamos is cut from the pop music mode, and has no training, intelligence, or experience in the world of through composed music.

I wasted my time listening to the "better" version by Peter Vamos. I won't waste any more of my time by commenting on it. Well, just one word - TRAVESTY
