@@phatjopoulos As far as I am aware it is not from any opera but used in many; Otello, Faust and others. Composed by Schubert mid 1820's as a stand alone melody.

My soul comes alive with this glorious music.

El Ave María de Franz Schubert es uno de los cantos más sublimes y celestiales que jamás se hayan escrito. Yo lo escuché por primera vez siendo muy niño, diría que a los diez años por primera vez pude apreciarlo en toda su magnificencia, pero aquí con el coro se escucha todavía más grandioso y profundo. Hoy, a mis 64, me sigue cautivando y emocionando como cuando lo descubrí en la discoteca de mi padre, que siempre lo veía escuchando esta o cualquier obra clásica mientras leía, cada vez que yo regresaba del colegio.

There you find nowhere, that the mother of Jesus (not the mother of god), has yet risen from the dead, as is equally true for the millions before and after, even if they were strongly (until death as martyr) believing in the unadultered WORD OF GOD! The title is not about the Virgin Mary but the God man Jesus. Read the Scriptures St. Elizabeth said "Mother of my Lord" you are denying Lord Jesus being God.

I always thought Maria Callas' Ave Maria was my favourite. Until I heard this. No version has moved me to tears like this. Her voice is transcendent. And I know I wept because Ms. Kulman sings it like a prayer from her soul, and love like that is always returned manifold from the Divine...and it is this reciprocated love that floods my heart when I listen to her. She is so blessed ❤️

This rendition gave me chills! So sublime! I am the leader of a Christmas concert every year that takes place around the beginning of December. It occurred to me that the Virgin Mary does not receive a great number of accolades or acclaim in our general music culture during the Christmas season (save perhaps in our religious music). And it goes (almost) without saying that any thoughtful individual would have at least once considered that without the Virgin Mary, the celebration of Christ's birth may not have ever existed. The song will now be a part of my annual concert. Thank you so much for this wonderful post!

My dear Denny, sorry to inform you, that prayers for the dead are entirely unbiblical: christians do prayers only for themselves to praise the LORD JESUS as their SAVIOUR and to ask HIS grace for the LIVING members of your own family, children, relatives, neighbors and friends and the like! Once they have passed away, no prayer is asked nor accepted by HIM, because the living ones are called to repent and turn to HIM in confession with a broken heart about their own sins and unrighteousness (see 1. John 1, 9). According to the teaching of the WORD of GOD, there is no second chance (after death) to come to peace with HIM!

Henning Beinsen you may not believe in prayers to Jesus but Saint Paul prayed for the dead the New Testament echoes this notion in the second letter of Timothy when Paul prays for someone who died named Onesiphorus, saying: “May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day.”
