I was just thinking the same thing. As soon as this video begins, I counted all who were involved and that is just one more reason why Tool is an amazing band, because four super talented individuals can generate such an enormous sound. Three holy musicians and a set of divine vocals equals eight students of the craft. An ambitious video for the students. Bravo.

I stumbled on this by pure accident. I was with my wife and we were both insisting that of any band and of any song, this would be an impossible cover. After looking at the comments, I see the obvious...the music is very well done. Drums, Bass and Guitar were all outstanding....however, I agree 💯%, the Vocals are so epic....for a minute I thought they were tracking in Maynard's voice. Simply unreal!

I think the vocalist tries to much to sound like Maynard James Keenan, rather then trying to put his own spin on the song, which i think is a shame as the vocalist do clearly have a good singing voice.

I was thinking the same until one specific drum part in the middle of the song where it became clear to me that the drummer just transmitted the same feeling to me with his drums as Danny Carey does. The way he uses the drums is the same as Danny. So drummer all the way.

That bass line is epic. And she pulled it off wonderfully. Bravo sis

I didn't see any props or kudos in the comments for the guys behind the sounds. the producer, the engineer or anyone in the control room. I've listened to this over and over in my noise canceling headphones and the sound is FUCKING INCREDIBLE!!! SO HERE'S TO YOU SOUND GUYS!!! You deserve just as much credit and glory for the OUTSTANDING work you did in the control room. i spent 5 years in the studio with my brother in law. i know how much work it is to get the sound you want. it's an art, and engineers never get the credit they deserve! AMAZING JOB PEOPLE!!! i am just as EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with the work you did as i am with the musicians. OUTSTANDING!!!

I love the way she moves with the music, like she really feels it. She's gonna be a great addition to any band that picks her up.

#1 - The bassist - she KILLED it, never missed once. A very close #2 - the drummer - on such a minimal kit he owned it, no showing off, just pure skill. And an even closer #3 - the vocalist - made it his own because he had to and absolutely convinced me. Fantastic performance by all.

You’ll be content with what you grew up with, not minding that the world will move on without your attention. Let the kids listen to what they will. Serious tool fan here, and damn guys, you nailed this so hard. Sure, technically it's not a 100 percent, but tool fans are looking for more than technical prowess. They don't want a perfect copy of the original, they are looking for a cover that captures the 'elan' of the original. This did it, perfectly.

EXACTLY. Covers are a subjective interpretaion of what this song means to the specific individuals responsible for pulling it off. I think it meant a LOT to them as their interpretation is NOT "100%" accurate. It's their salute to this song. I would be dissapointed if it was an attempt at a straight "photocopy". Kudos.

I think tool would be very impressed. They started where I live. My friend is one of the members cousin and helped them make the move to California and they arent pretentious whatsoever they're very humble and worked really hard to get to where they're at. I think they would really appreciate this and admire the kids and thier talent!!!! After all they were once right where those kids are now and can relate to the dedication and hard work it takes to get that good far more then we can!

I cant stop watching the blonde girl on bass. She is so beautiful and talented. Mesmerizing. I could watch her play for hours. Awesome drums, awesome guitars, and maybe even better vocals than the original. What an accomplishment to play something as difficult as this. Well done guys!

I share the sentiment that the vocals made me a tad nervous at the start but... holy shit! He killed it! Great job all around.

Wow. I love how everyone’s focus is on playing their part correctly, no histrionics or showmanship. But the inability to not groove, not feed off each other’s energy, shines through as the song builds. That is true presence, what it feels like to be in the pocket so to speak. One of the best feelings in the world. Thanks gang and thanks Tool.

The vocals were so-so (because no one can replicate Maynard) By biggest gripe is the two guys playing guitars (guessing one was playing at the same tempo but slightly behind for the delay/chorus). They make effect petals for that very reason.

Amazing! Tool isnt the most easy thing to play , its difficult and complex , and these youngsters nailed it!

This is what music is all about. Props to the bass player, you can tell she was jamming during the whole song. Drummer did a fantastic job, he was on point! Excellent cover and thank you for bringing us Tool.

Amazing job. The bass player cementing the groove during the high hat triplets was inspiring. That high hat wants to lead you away but she stayed on the path.

I never comment on KZread videos ... However, I MUST for this one! I played this while washing dishes (not watching); I thought it was the real song! These young adults have an AMAZING talent and are very FOCUSED to succeed in their musical capabilities!

I just saw the two new songs performed in Lincoln just the other day

4:30 that guitarist almost brought a tear was so powerful. The singer reminds me of Maynard in his Pucsifer persona singing a Tool song, so freaking cool.

Greatest song ever written.

Alright guys and gals! You know what the difference is between real musicians and YT show-offs? Well, let me explain! 1. Your bassist seriously nailed that! Using fingerstyle APPROVED! I SLAPPED like immediately! EPICO! 2. Overall, the sounds and instruments you used give the entire thing a way more rocky and rough sound which greatly serves the song and gives it your personal touch rather than just being a copy of the original. 3. Your singer put his own style in there, in a few very well selected spots and fantastically hit the entire and challenging scope that the vocals require. 4. Your drummer especially played this track on such a minimal kit and made it sound wonderful! That is the real art. Most people would just do a complete kit overkill and miss the point completely. Keep it coming!

My favorite Tool track, these kids are the real deal. Drums, base, guitar, vocals, all of it! Masterfully done.

One of the first vocal covers that compare to Maynard in regards to pitch alone. I love the other covers the kids do but this could be mistaken for a raw tool session and that’s absolutely incredible 🤙🏻 so nice to see young generation appreciate what tool offers

That kid's vocals are wild.

MJK has such a unique voice its almost impossible to sing in his style. But very well done young...all the band members here have a great future.

As student as a School of Rock student, I can tell you that they have molded many novices into great musicians.

Tool is a highly unconventional band. Nailing their song requires superhuman talent and effort. I legit had goosebumps listening to this. Also, hats off to the blonde bassist and the drummer. Absolutely fabulous!

Great contribution from keyboard players, they were swinging the first minute of the song. Essential.

Man, you have to have SERIOUS chops to keep up with Tool music. Very impressive! EDIT: Next... Ticks and Leeches!

This is amazing guys! I'm a forty one year old Tool fan from the UK and I admit I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to Tool covers. I would normally skip right past videos like this. Especially because this is my all-time favourite Tool song ever... But, you absolutely nailed it! Stunning work. Trust me, I've listened to this song so many times over the years, it would be impossible to count. I've heard it A LOT! .....And your version was nearly spot on! I LOVED IT!!! Keep up the good work, you are truelly brilliant. (Props to the sound engineer too! Clarity, balance, everything was perfect!) I'm listening to it again now...

This kid on drums is amazing.

The guy in the vocals nailed so much!!! Fantastic work, covering TOOL is the ultimate test!!! And the bassist is enjoying so much, who wouldn't??

Not one of those 4 parts is easy, Tool are each master class of their instruments and you guys crushed it. Blown away!

Great job, kids! Especially the bass player! Fingers, all fingers.... bravo!!!

Singing spot on. Not an easy song to embrace and he nailed it. Everyone in this rendition is a great musician. As a girl I absolutely loove the bassist and her energy.

I really liked the vocals, the kid has an unique voice. Hope he keeps working on it, he could be one hell of a singer.

Sounds like it could work for something like say Alter Bridge. Kid kind of sounds like Miles Kennedy at times IMHO.

That's how you know they will live on. It will be passed from generation to generation, like King Crimson was passed to me.

If these kids can learn & emulate Tool then there is a future for music

It's beautiful to see everyone playing with a focus to play the song perfectly. It is like a personal achievement. And I can say that you did a great job, congratulations, each of you must feel fulfilled. Thank you!

Bruno Bucci when I first clicked on this song, I figured it would be pretty good, but sloppy in parts bc how complex the song is. After watching it, I’m with you man. They each had a passion to master their part, and it blew my mind. Simply incredible!! I will be binge watching this 🤘

Oh my The hard aproach, TOOL. Credits for even trying it. All went well, but that bass player is already up the next level

I agree, he didn't have the power that Maynard brings, but he definitely has a good voice. I still like Samuel Hope's voice cover better.

Oh my god I was thinking the same thing... I think he may nail Layne's voice for sure! But either way these kids were pretty good... Tool is not easy to play by any means.. I fail miserably when I try
