So true sir. There are still dedicated musicians and songwriters out there that do the hard graft and small gigs. All they need is a break. But I think it's harder than ever to get through the commercial structure that's going on at the moment.

I heard this song in Wisconsin in 1966. I moved to California in 1973, and I've been here ever since.
The future of music is in good hands. The recording and mixing effort that went into this are also very commendable.

I love California. I was ten in '65. Been here my whole life. But it was better then. I was from NoCal, but live in SoCal too. The pics of the beach and the city skyline made me sad for days gone by. The Bay Area was beautiful.

@@albertbrighten5691, everyone uses Autotune in the studio. It's a given. I play 7 instruments and have been in bands that recorded demos. When the studio mixes them, they use Autotune to get the best sound they can. Believe it or not, it's not really that much of a change to the tone of the vocalist. If they are little flat or sharp, it will bring them back to pitch. These kids don't have much of a pitch problem, so it makes them sound that much better.

Lead singer has an amazingly strong beautiful voice 👍
As good as the vocals are on this cover, and they are fantastic, is the work of the players. The instrumentalists on this recording are absolutely superb...the guitars... the synth....drums...and that bass....the groove they're in is deep and rock solid. If I didn't know better, I would have no trouble believing these were highly talented studio musicians hired for their expertise in creating the perfect '60s vibe. It really is a beautiful piece of musical artistry.
I’m 66 so I’m old enough to have heard this song as it was originally performed. I’m totally impressed with this tribute. I always look forward to videos from The School of Rock. You always feature such amazing talents and this video is no exception.
It's almost hard to believe that these are teenage students. They sound more polished and professional than many professionals. The vocals are thrilling, the keyboards and guitars brilliant, and the drummer drives the song with impeccable timing and skill. And the "traveling" bassist is such a joy to watch. Besides laying down perfect rhythm in total synch with the drummer, she clearly is having the time of her life. Whether these kids choose music as a career or just a hobby, they have the goods to go far. Cheers!

great insightful comment. A shame the instrumental bridge was not as in the original, a real wind instrument. There is hope for the youth of this world in the arts. P.S. I call Kamryn, the bassist, a " boogie bass player ".

I am sure the recording people and director were not students. But also for a professional recording this one is at very high level in all kind of manors.
Standing thundering ovation for these amazing new musicians Bravo Proof that quality music education is so important for youth!!! Congratulations team
Probably the best version of this song since the original. These kids nailed it and are so enjoyable to watch. Sharing this with friends.

Exactly, perfect comment… lead vocalist is dynamite. Only thing they were missing was Cass and Michelle singing background.

You mean the version from Barry McGuire? Or the version from The Mama's & The Papa's. Because Barry's was the first recorded version of the song... (written by the papa's tho). Personally i like The Mama's & The Papa's version the most, after that the version from Barry McGuire. After those two i prefer the version from Melanie and the version from Scala & Kolacny Brothers. All are better than this one...
