Scheme that welcomed thousand of Ukrainians to the UK after Russia’s invasion extended
Set up to respond to the public desire to help Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion, the government's Homes for Ukraine scheme saw as many as 115 thousand come to live with British families.
With the war very much still in progress, the initiative has now been extended.
Our communities editor Darshna Soni has been following the stories of some of the Ukrainians who've had to make a new life here.

They’ve come a very long way for asylum and I hope they’re gonna do the right thing when the war is over and go back to help rebuild their country because in the case of war asylum isn’t supposed to be a permanent thing. Sounds like just a good excuse to get into the UK.
