Thanks Joe for another fine video. I bought one of the Schaaf diamond stones about two years ago and have since used it on literal hundreds of edged tools from axes, adzes, drawknives, spokeshaves, plane blades, chisels, and carving tools, The weight and thickness of the plate keeps it flat and helps when using the stone in hand when sharpening off of the bench, I own and use other sharpening stones such as oil stones, water stones, ceramic and slip stones but have found my Schaaf stone to consistintly to be the best option for exterior curved and flat bevels and for flattening flat backs of tools. I also love the stone holder. for keeping the stone still on the work surface, raising the stone above the bench, and the ease of cleanup. I have also used it to hold some of my similar size stones. I look forward to watching your future videos.

Hi mr Joe Dillet!! First off I want to thank you for your superb videos they are very helpful, and I’m glad you now open the comments section!!!👌🏾, I have a question if you know how to sharpen a “macaroni “ gauges or chisel?? Do you own one, or where I can buy one!? , I was watching one of mr. Rick Butz carving videos, and he used one but the videos are old and what I heard he’s retired from doing videos on “ how to carve” , so if you know I would appreciate your feedback!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾thank you so much!!! N blessings!

Thank you for your kind words about my video. I believe the Swiss brand, still makes a Macaroni chisel. About 35 years ago they sent me one. I never really used it. It is sharpened much the same as the V-tool, except it has three straight sides.

Are Schaaf tools made in China?

They are made in China but are of high quality. With just a little TLC that are among the best I have ever tried, and I have tried most of the expensive brands. Considering what the other serious tool manufacturers charge these are a great way to get some quality tools. Have fun.
