I had a log cabin in West Virginia built in 1935 by hunters on 2 acres of land. Original logs. Unfortunately I had to short sale it and moved to Florida. Somebody bought it and it’s been abandoned since 1998. I went back a few years ago and peeked inside. It was a haunting look into my past life as some of my stuff was still in there that I left hoping my Dad would take it but he never did. These videos make me think of life and how it gets left behind. I like your videos and the quiet comments giving us a chance to think.

Bear in mind a real restoration means taking the logs apart, tagging them, cleaning them, repairing the bad pieces, then reassembling them with new caulking and wire. It's not just about making the cabin pretty inside like Bob Timberlake. I know some Amish who travel to restore these old cabins, and/or take them down to sell and rebuild them on someone's property. They know what they are doing and can get it done quickly (as opposed to you and me and some amateur cabin people). Just bear in mind that cabins are very dark and gloomy inside unless you can bear to sheetrock over those lovely logs. Except for the road, this is a gorgeous piece of property with the dogwood and forsythia.

That was a really neat find. That little building has a million stories and several lives. I think you’re right in that someone discovered the logs and decided to renovate but quickly got overwhelmed. I think I would too. Love the signs of spring. How many old houses have forsythia and spring blooming trees and shrubs? Neat explore even if it was a bit disappointing to see paneling and makeshift bath and kitchen from 80s maybe? Then again, that’s part of the story too. Kind of looks like tobacco barn but the basement/foundation more like a house. Thanks as always. Check your Instagram dm. a great old home.
What a relic. Love the old cabins and barns. We rented a really small old farmhouse and lined the walls with salvaged barn wood, keeping the rustic look we love so much. Eventually it was torn down when the owner died. History being removed.
Again, you've found us a good one. It's so sad how neglected and abused (that paneling!) it's been. The fact that it's still standing is a testament to the craftsmanship of the people who built it. Thanks for sharing these great places with us each week. It truly is a bright spot in my week.
Very cool
What an adorable cabin! Loved the outside porch posts...very ornate for a cabin. The inside was so cut up...but if it could be rescued, I'd try to go for an open concept downstairs, turn the upstairs into an open loft. Beautiful place its located on too.
Interesting little place where they probably had a kid or two (or more). I was intrigued by that gate-leg table on the second floor, as I don't remember seeing one before (not that there weren't any, just that I don't *remember)* and never one with only one drop leaf. Nice find, Kappy, as usual.
Love the detail in the porch columns. Those are gorgeous. The notebook was interesting. From 2009. Wonder if someone lived in it then.

Yes, I thought so too: probably a later addition, but well before electric and water installed, I think. Unheated places go to hell in a hurry. Even just two or three years can make a big difference.
Antique glass in the bathroom window, awesome.

Blown glass is what we've been told by the historical society here. It's great it's not broken. If any building old enough to have it is set for demolition or changing to modern replacement windows we have many people who seek permission to salvage the windows for this glass. It's always great to see good timbers and elements such as that.

Jestin Kase It's actually called cylinder glass. My old farm house was built in 1850, we restored the windows using period glass. Crown glass is also wavy but was replaced with cylinder glass so that stuff is very hard to find. Cylinder glass was the first sheet glass.

Loved how the wavy paneling matched the wavy glass . They both must have been installed at the same time.
The bins in the basement were for keeping vegetables in sand, years ago little ability to keep things cool, basement was the best! Very well made cabin, think of the changes that house has seen! Amazing thanks and stay safe!
Beautiful!! Wish it could be restored!! You were brave to go downstairs!! LOL
Love the flowering trees outside the quaint cabin. Thanks for sharing. I like the pipe stair rail handle. Don't see those often.
An old 1800's cabin, with a Victorian porch added at some point along with the asbestos siding...and a 1970's interior redo. Just needs to be cleaned and gutted down to the old timber, re-mortared with chinking material and it will look brand new again.
In this age of tiny houses, one would think that someone wanting to really downsize would love to flip this house and update it to be more livable. It's as cute as it can be and wouldn't take that much to upgrade. Nice video, Kappy!
What a pretty place! I loved that cabin. I bet people were happy there it has a nice sweet, homely atmosphere to it. Thankyou for filming it to show us. It made me feel happy to see it.
Oh just wow! Kappy you sure can find them.. and with a sweet porch. You’ve definitely discovered your vocation! ALWAYS love your vids! ❤️ OLD OLD WINDOW/bath.
This is so quaint! I LOVE it! Such history! Thanks so very Kappy for another beautiful find! Your videos never disappoint. Wishing you a very wonderful Saturday. 😊

What a darling little cabin at some time. Whoever remodeled it however wasn't at all a certified flipper. It was a horrible remodel for such what was once an adorable little cute cabin. The property outdoors was majestic. I'd just set up a tent and live outdoors. Thanks for sharing, awesome video. My dream home at one time.
Kappy, you are one of my favorite explorers. Your finds are AWESOME! Great work my friend. 💖💜💖💜💖💜💖
Simply beautiful: deserves to get restored to its former glory!
What a pretty cabin and such character on the outside!! Thank you for bringing this to us!!
Looked a lot bigger inside than it looks from outside.

Yeah its so weird! At 5:05 it looks quite spacious inside with a sizeable second floor. But at 10:04, the profile of the house seems so small. Might be an optical illusion with having such large "Hand hewn logs" making it look smaller than it is.
I love the outside. And the down stairs with a little TLC would still be livable. Thanks
Cool old cabin! It’s stood the test of time. Probably built in early 1800s.

Man, Kappy! When you went into the basement ... you are brave! I didn’t expect it to be that big though. You never say never! Very interesting house.
It's still a cozy little place, I bet those original timbers were 100 years old, when they were used to build this little 'Doll House' Another great video Kappy, you sure caught the flowers at the right time!

Thank you very much for watching! And agreed I love spring!
This was definitely renovated in the 1970s because of the yellow bathroom and paneling.
That was phenomenal!!! To think the logs have survived over a hundred years! Its beautiful outside! It should be restored back to irs original beauty and kept as a monument of the era.
I Love Everything about this Adorable cabin and the location is Beautiful..
What an adorable house! It’s such a shame that it isn’t being brought back to its original state and preserved. There are so few left. I’m so glad you did this video😊
What a lil gem!! Thanx Kappy😀😀
Great to see old houses ,out buildings and barns I would love to own a 100 of them just to put in original condition great video thanks
Bet that this tiny cabin was cute back in its day! The forsythia is beautiful ~thanks for yet another awesome explore, Kappy & Happy Easter🙂
that really was a cute little cabin, & it wouldn't take much to get it back on it's feet....ty for the video kappy!

Right on! That property seemed awesome, too! Can be made back 2 nice on the inside, it's worth it! I wonder where this is located at?
Beauty on the outside. I'd like to be able to fix it up. It could be a great place to live.

It would take a lot more work than you realize.
The doorknob that you showed first. It is an antique you had to. Have a skeleton key to lock and unlock it. Most of the time locks was not locked. Would loved to seen this cabin. Restored to its original Beauty. Thank you for sharing your video. Have a great day.

The doors and locks and knobs are from the 1920's.
I loved this one it was so quirky the walls were so thick. When you were looking out the window that looks like a sidewalk you would see in any neighborhood. The outside looks like it is straight out of a storybook 👍❤
What a treat! That place is worth saving, imo. It would have to be almost completely rebuilt though.

Not completely. They should save the bathroom.
oh my goodness a log house. I have always wanted to live in a log house. those logs are really wide, I can;t imagine having to work to get those logs there and hewened out laid on top of each other. wow an fantastic find. pretty on the outside and peaceful with the birds singing thanks for letting me tag along.
My husband showed me and old cemetery and lodge (?) and I shared a few pics. Happy hunting and be safe. ❤️

awesome another good find take care have a happy easter bud great place
As usual a very good explore. Really look forward to these!
I love the front porch! What a great find! Thanks Kappy!
I've always wanted a cabin in the woods! I have the land, just need to build! This one is awesome!!
That is definitely old windows the way the glass rippled. That would have made a great little getaway cabin at one time. The basement has a bit of a creepy vibe. Great video, how do you find such great places to explore? Looking forward to the next video, as always be careful and be safe.
Outside is so cute. Thanks for showing.
What a Fantastic Cabin! Like so many houses, that started as a Log Cabin, at some point the outside was covered with siding! It looks like the last person there took off most of the siding. I have seen some great places where they had the outside as a Log cabin, and the inside as a combination of finished walls and logs being seen. I bet there was old brick and fire places also! I hope someone jumps in and tackles that project!! Great Video Kappy!
Ive heard that glass is actually a liquid, but it moves so slow, we can’t see it. That’s what causes ancient windows to have that rippled appearance. You’re seeing the glass flow, from a long time ago. That place is a lot bigger inside than it appears!

What's wrong with you?
Wow, wish I could salvage those logs, just look and the hand tooled marks. Another great find Kappy thank you!
I want that "cute door knob" I make rustic crafts out of old knobs and pieces of the original door..I make rustic board signs...seeing old knobs, window panes, etc. Stuff like that is like finding gold...for me! Great video, thank you, from Ontario, Canada
How sweet and peaceful that place must have been before the road was added. I love this cute little cabin. Could still be refinished. It's solid. The paneling that's covering the wood beans, that's a true shame. I would keep those beans exposed. The way I must have looked like brand new..... Wow, beautiful I'm sure.
Absolutely love this little cabin home. Thanks for uploading this, love your channel.
Es ist interessant zu sehen, wie man ganz früher in the early 1800 baute und wie die nachfolgenden Generationen ein bisschen Modernisierung gewagt haben. Historisch sehr interessant. Thank you from germany
What a beautiful place. Not too much wrong , looks like it’s in half decent shape. Those columns are gorgeous, the Corinthian style is amazing.
It is so sad that a wonderful little home like this is rotting away. It could be so cute and cozy.
The house small but beautiful, and very comfortable and completed room, nice kitchen, nice bathroom, nice bedroom, nice basement,ia not creepy.nice terrace,so I hope the new owner to renovation this houses is very an antiques.
Awesome place!
👍 Nice find once again Kappy!... Was an Abe Lincoln childhood dream!... So sad it had to wind up like this... 😢
Loved it! Thank you! It sounded like it was close to a highway vs back in the woods. I thought I saw a lake in the background in the beginning.
I picture this cabin with exposed log walls, a leather love seat, some polished antiques including an old spinning wheel. A quaint fireplace and some interesting old books to read. Please, take away that cheap paneling. Was that really a black widow spider? that would be the 1st thing to go! The place could have been fabulous if done right. So much potential. You find the best places.
In our society today, we want everything new and do not appreciate the old. These beautiful homes need to be saved!
Some years ago this little house was pictured in a magazine. It looked so cute. Nothing like it looks now!
Awesome video! Good find! Great job!
Such a charming old log house. Looks as though there were some attempts on upgrading. It would be a fabulous place to live if all restored and remodeled inside.
What beautifull
Such a cool old cabin! I can only imagine the smell! Thanks for sharing and Happy Easter!
Quaint!
What a cute cabin. It was still a little creepy but I loved this explore! Thank you!
Love the look of the outside of this cabin. I was surprised it had such a nice bathroom for such a small cabin. Shared on my fb Kappy.
Amazing old cabin. What were we thinking back in the 70s though? How anyone thought faux paneling was beautiful is beyond me.
Another great find thank's 👍
A very nice old place built too last forever.
Nice cabin Thank you for sharing the video Have a great day.
How quaint and adorable from the outside. Wonder what the inside will be like?? How sad that the remodel wasn’t finished, it would be a good getaway little house for vacations ! Overwhelmed for sure!!
enjoyed, good 1
Beautiful little place in it's own time.
The first residents must have had a good life there. Needs to be saved and restored.
Beautiful, Wonderful Americana..Love it!
I loved that place. If it was in better shape, I'd live there. Thanks for another great explore, Kappy.
It looked so cute on the outside but get inside and it's a pit from a nightmare lol!!
Hi, such a cool old building, they should try and save it for historical reasons. Thanks for sharing. x
I really enjoyed this old home.
If walls could talk. I can only imagine what they would say.
Thanks..I love this. Wish I could fix it back to it's beginning.
I love this old place great video
WOW !!!! Fantastic !!! :)
I love old buildings like this.
What an adorable little place. So sad to see it in such decay. I was so surprised there was an upstairs, it looked too small. I really love the porch, it adds so much character and charm to this little place. Great find Kappy, thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend :o)
