I completely agree with you,we were robbed by the ref that shove on Watkins was a joke,I already mentioned archer forgot villa have that buyback option,but whilst unai is here the way he celebrated he ain't coming back.merry xmas.

Refereeing and VAR was shambolic in this game. We weren't at our best but did enough to win the game easily. Perspective is definitely key, 2nd in the league is incredible. C'mon Zaniolo 👏

Don't understand how they gave that a foul on the keeper but not the push on Watkins. Make it make sense VAR 🤦‍♂

As a neutral who really loves Villa's style this campaign, I also have to say I'm so happy for Zaniolo. Loved him at Roma and that ended poorly.

We're struggling against teams that park the bus need to run at them to take players out of position which frees up space other than that excellent. Up the villa✌️

The premier league couldn’t handle a team outside the ‘traditional’ top 6 being top at Christmas. They have to protect their babies and that’s why we were robbed.

The longer the game went on , the more mistakes the ref made !

You're right Max, we probably weren't at our best tonight, but i felt we did enough to win the game. There was nothing wrong with Baileys goal and we should have had at least 2 penalties, if not more. VAR is just a way of results getting fixed, and its ruining the game. Just need to put it to bed now and get prepared for our trip to Manchester on Boxing day. UTV

The dissalowed Goal Ramsey was being fouled before he grabbed the keepers arm. Goal should of stood . And as for the push on watkins and the Hamdball it was an utter disgrace we have been Robbed of 16 straight home wins.. fairplay to the lads fof sticking at it and getting something out the game

Frustrating night.. It was the VAR show, definitely wasn't our best performance this season at home but needed more at times to break through these parked bus teams. UTV and bring on UTD Tuesday...

I was all set to go n watch that game as i was working in Brum, but thanks to some Thieving b/stard on Thursday night my work van got broken into n some of my tools stolen and making my van insecure, hence i couldn't leave my van unattended! Drove home 3 hrs to hear that Game, absolutely shocked that we didn't win that match. And for Cam to rub salt further into the wounds! Well ive had a shit week! We were robbed. I agree with what you’re saying, we weren’t good enough. It wasn’t clicking with the final touch/shot. Going onto the decisions: 1. Watkins push- thought it was a foul. For once he had hold of his shirt as well as the push. We’ve seen those decisions given in the prem. Can’t see how that one is different. 2. Handball- I didn’t have a good view of this as I was sat in upper trinity. However, looking back over it. He does make movement towards the ball. I think it would of been soft as I think it’s hit like his armpit. 3. Disallowed goal- no doubt its a foul on the goalkeeper. Ramsey has gotten hold of his arm. However, the only reason he’s got his arm around him is because, he was getting fouled with his shirt being pulled. I completely agree with you, it’s a new phase of play. I was shouting at the top of my lungs “it’s a new phase of play”. Question is how many touches is it now to make it a new phase of play. Who knows? It bloody changes every single week. However, still take being unbeaten at home. UTV💜💙

Agreed with your assessment. Also think we need to counter the 'park the bus' approach from the opposition. Other teams will do this against us too, as they'll see how effective it is. The ref/VAR weren't on it either. Definite push on Ollie, nailed on penalty. The foul on the keeper- there's always pushing and shoving in the area and goalies do their share, but it seemed Jacob Ramsey himself was being held, yet that didn't seem to count for anything. It's almost tempting to think, like another comment on here, that there was a 'conspiracy' to prevent Villa being top. Having said that, we really should have got the job done. Real mixed bag of feelings for me - so frustrated after the disallowed Bailey goal, I broke a pen, disbelieving when we went to sleep and let Archer score (can I still like him or is he now a bit of a turncoat?) and sheer relief when Nicola Zaniolo levelled with his first PL goal. I'm very happy for him! We've got to keep banging away at it (as Jeff Beck used to put it) so we can at least get top 4 and Champs Lge and attract and retain top players. Greetings from Indonesia Max! Well, it was disappointing, but as many has said, 'they' didn't want Villa top of the PL, so a 'job' was done. We wasn't at our best, but even so, with a fair share of the 'rub of the green' and we would of done. Anyway, we go again. We do take an age to move the ball out from the back. Should mix it up a bit more. Too often we face packed defences because we walk the ball forwards.

It's not a surprise that Ref Taylor was demoted to Championship this season for poor corrupt decisions. Unfortunately Villa suffered through his pathetic officiating again. Villa were poor though & didn't help themselves. All that possession yet one shot at goal in first 60 mins!! It would have been a totally different game though if VAR and that cretin Ref wouldn't have been so corrupt. At least it helps clearing the way for their media glamour clubs at the top. Let's hope we stick it up them & give all the chosen few a good run at it. Up the Villa!!!

2 of out the 3 big VAR calls I think they got wrong, but I guess Sheffield will feel like this is a bit of revenge for the Nyland incident. These things have a way of levelling out in the end. iFAB Law 12 clearly states that if a ball hits the upper or lower arm it's handball. Baldock clearly used his upper arm (bicep). PENALTY TO VILLA. Goalkeeper was fouled so that goal had to be ruled out IF Sheffield were not in a position to "reset". The decision is subjective due to time allowed not a law. Sheffield had time to reset in my opinion because they had played out with over two passes then gave the ball away to us and we scored. WE WE'RE ROBBED.Villa won! They got away with one there. Goal for the Villa. Foul or not on the keeper. We were robbed. I don't like teams that park the coach. That in my opinion is easy to do. It was our job to break Sheffield down. We did but it was too late for the win due to VAR. Matty Cash is NOT Unai standard and hasn't been for over 6 months. He has had inconsistent play. Unai knows this. Watch a new right back winger come in, in the shape of Tajon Buchannon and Waldermar Anton. Also keep your eye on Oscar Gloukh. I say that Mcginn and co had run out of ideas and expected to be able to do the usual and by pass the opposition with not so much work. We ran out of ideas and 6 times Matty Cash ( not for the 1st time) created confidence for the opposition by either giving the ball away or not using peripheral vision enough and being aware and not so passive, commiting to the hard press to force the error to the byline. Not good enough and Unai knows it. If Matty Cash has no confidence it's because he's aware of his own short comings. It should either make a player stronger and say I'm going to become better, or....they fade. Cashy is fading. His personality is weak. Sideways football is not in Unai's remit. He knows who's coming in the January transfer window and should I say who's leaving. Their cards have been marked. Title contenders? of course. But only with a new right back or two and other additions.

Think all of the VAR interpretations were poor and I feel it was the frustration of the disallowed goal that led to us getting sloppy and ultimately conceding. Just glad we managed to stay unbeaten.

Embarrassing decision.

We missed Tielemens big time, he would have found pockets and unlocked there banks of 5 and 4. Moved the ball too slowly and I can't understand Bailey being subbed, he was looking the one who would turn the game around. McGinn can be forgiven for having a poor game, as he's been huge this season. Every VAR decision going against us, Bailey goal went through at least two more phases before they went back to a very weak overturned VAR look, Taylor no backbone to say not clear and obvious...Watkins clearly pulled down first half too. Still don't get some leaving early, it's mad, goals come late all the time at VP. Very disappointing but could have lost all 3 points, so well done Zaniolo 👏

Realistically we won't win the league we have done brilliantly well to be anywhere near the top. It was going to happen that we dropped points when perhaps we expected not to the players look tried we need to get some more in January. We may not have been at our best in that 90 mins but if the officials do their job properly, we get an early pen and score and we all know that completely changes the game. VAR is atrocious for everyone, but last night was just scandalous.

Officiating was the usual random nonsense. However, the consistent problem is Villa's difficulty in breaking down eleven men defenses. We simply can't move the ball quick enough to take advantage of any space that we create in their box. It's all too one-paced and plodding. Sort that out and we'll stop dropping points regardless of how crap the officials are. UTV

It's really hard to play against 10 men in a penalty box, you can't create opportunities when a team is so defensive and anti football. If VAR had been doing it's job we would have won 2-3 nil easy and be looking forward to Man U. It seems the opposition give us more credit to our ability than the so-called "pundits"

My prediction was 0-1 a Sheffield Utd win. Cameron Archer to score. How close was I? Anyone with an ounce of sense would have known Archer would score. How many times do we see it happen when an ex player scores against his old club. I'm glad I got the score wrong. Burnley will play the same way. Come on lads! Learn.

I think we have to look at it completely rationally and say we weren't "done over" by anything tonight. It is a foul on the keeper for the goal and I thought it was a different phase of play at the time but if you look at the guidance for phases of play, it is subjective and Sheffield United can argue that their defence wasn't reset so the phase is still ongoing. The hand ball is above the t shirt line so fair enough decision and the Watkins one didn't look a penalty at the time so I can see why that wasn't overturned. We got a point, it could have been better but this is all going really well so I'm happy overall
